So now that I refuse to give that info to a 3rd party, it will not let me order my Medallions (I know we can get them when checking in but supposedly that is a perk of having it shipped since I have Princess Plus).  All this means I have not completed my check -in!  As a long time cruiser on Princess, this is really ticking me off! 😠😠

Advice to you and others to "beat the system".  You need to think like James T Kirk in these situations.

So, the upload or transfer to this 3rd party is not likely real-time live.

Step 1:  Add the card for Shoreside.  Use some extra card you have that you don't really use much at all.  Who knows - you might even be able to trick the system temporarily with an old expired card number.

Step 2:  Immediate order Medallions.

Step 3.  Quickly go back and delete the Shoreside credit card.  I'll bet a buck or two your card number never gets to the 3rd party as it is likely a nightly upload.

Step 4:  Check status of Medallion order.  I will wager another buck or two that your order is still there and active.

For all we know, PCL may not bother to upload the card info until close to sail date.  Would be nice to be able to ask their IT team.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I'd figure that PCL is acting as a Credit Card clearing house / transaction processor, no CC numbers or PII are given out to merchants.  They charge shoreside merchants a transaction fee.  The only way they could do that was if they were processing the transactions themselves, not your CC company.

ETA:  Shoreside Medallion charges go to your onboard account, not your CC.

Yep, which is why I'm concerned I won't have the boarding pass as I can't find that on the old app or website like I did the luggage tags.

Also anyone else notice how on the shoreside page it says items with * are required but only the zipcode has a *. Obviously not true and so weird.Screenshot_20231230_162256_Princess.thumb.jpg.c48f228ff903847174e7c7dd8475ca0b.jpg

I thought the same thing.  (Like Apple Pay) but the above post makes it seem otherwise.

I believe you are right - the 3rd party is this Radiqal LLC outfit.  At least CC info is going to them and not every merchant out there.

I NEVER selected a shoreside payment on the old app. Downloaded the new app and it has my credit card info also under shoreside with the “complete” button highlighted. All green for everything. How do I unselect the shoreside credit card without screwing everything up??

Same here.  Never selected shoreside payment but it’s there.

That might be the issue we are having seeing some guests with different prices in their SD.

If so, the pricing is mixed with SD and AUS.  How the loaded it that way, really baffles me.

What about your SD, is that USD?

SD bookings showing as AUD$ at my end.

Current pricing is showing as $53 for catch by Rudi and Harmony, and $63 for Crown grill. Did another booking and was charged in AUD$ to my card as per prices above.

Hey all -- not just this poster -  Princess announced earlier this year that BP's would appear about 11 days out from boarding date.  Cannot speak to luggage tags as they have always been in Personalizer before and are only useful when printed to hardcopy, so IDK if that is an easy thing for many people to do from a phone.  Luggage tags used to be 75 days out (which is of course way sooner than necessary).

With regards to luggage tags, choosing that tab takes you to the web page of your Princess.com online reservation, so the steps for printing them out haven't changed.  That's the same thing as choosing the Excursions tab from the app, you're redirected to the online reservation to complete that task there as well.  As far as the timing of when that tab becomes available, I can tell you it's there for my cruise in four days, but not for the cruise in 132 days.

Interesting... noticed I was "Ready to Sail" for the cruise that's 132 days out so I dug a little deeper into that and discovered that my credit card has been authorized (not by me) for Shoreside Transactions.  So, I tried Steelers36's suggestion of removing the credit card from Shoreside Transactions.  The card is still listed for my Onboard Transactions, but I am no longer ready to sail as only 6 out of 7 items have been completed.  When I looked at DH's reservation, there are no separate tabs for online or shoreside, and the card data appears as the default under his Payment Methods, so he's still set to sail.  And, his Elite status is showing correctly.

Continuing my beta testing quest, I logged out of my profile, relogged in using my next cruise booking number, and sure enough, I am no longer "Ready to Sail" in 4 days as I now need to provide the credit card information for shoreside transactions.  (Not happenin'!)

Good thing I was already quite happy to be in the Blue Lane anyway.  🤣

Thanks for the feedback. Yours looks correct in AUD.  Some of us in the US and sailing from the US have wrong prices loaded.

They’ve mixed up US/AUD currencies.  The work around right now, order off the old App  or the website version of the App.

This Shoreside Transactions have been around since last year and with all the complaints, Princess hasn’t change it and I don’t expect they will.

Oh.. why they are a TRUSTED partner of PCL!  Why ever should we mere guests question such things?  What could possibly go wrong?

LOL. Just for kicks I did a little research on Radiqal LLC. They're a company supposedly from a town in PA however, when you dig deeper you discover they are from India. All their development is done out of India. No doubt, the company in PA is nothing more than a shell company for the real location, India, where s/w developers work for a fraction of what they'd get in the US. I work in the IT industry and have for over 25 years, my experience is that you get what you pay for when it comes to IT.

The company website is amateurish to say the least and the "Meet the Team" section consists of 3 people all from India with their pictures not shown, just an icon. I did a cursory check on LinkedIN and discovered very little about this company. I can only find 3 employees, all from India. There must be more, but I can't find them.

As for what this company does for Carnival - they provide Casino and Accounting Management. Why would they need my info?

Regarding the information they get from you if you use their services - you can get this from their site: Payment Intent token, name on your CC, ship you are sailing on, your photo, email, phone number birth-date, preferences, reviews and feedback. What could possibly go wrong handing all that over to a company in India?

So I find myself asking a question: If my information gets stolen because of this company, what's the chances that Carnival Corp will step up and take ownership? I think we all know the answer to that one.

So yeah, think I'll pass on sending all that info over to this company. I'll do what I always do when I step off a ship - cash is king.

Actually, there has been a change:  the team decided to "improve" the Shoreside Transactions aspect in the new app - they have added a whole list of vendors who participate in MedallionPay.  Surely that information would be way more important to me to have ready access to in the app rather than a list of my upcoming cruises.  😝

Maybe this has been answered before but I could only login to the new app with my booking number.  It didn't like my princess.com password.  I have the old app which I am logged into.  Did I have to provide a different login for that app and I forgot to write it down somewhere and that is what my login on the new app should be?

That information is useless to me. 😜

Because it’s a mandatory field what should we do?  Not provide are cc information in the App. At Port, are they going to make it mandatory and then what?

Good question! I hope that we’ll hear reports from cruisers who didn’t enter credit card info for Shoreside.  It would be good to know if they will require us to authorize our credit card for shoreside at check in.

You stay in the Blue Lane if you don't fill it out. No big deal.

And at Port, you may have to provide your cc information for Shoreside Transactions or you don’t get on the ship (?). We have to wait and see. Someone will report back to us that has experienced this.

I have the same issues with not being able to book The Catch by Rudi on the 4/3 cruise by trying every way possible. It’s very frustrating not being able to book this popular restaurant & having to hope for availability when boarding.

I’ve had no issue with booking reservations for that very cruise.  Perhaps try booking it in the old app, take a screen so you at least have a reservation.   If all fails, we have two reservations for the Catch for 5:20 PM and will give one up if you would like that snag that time frame.

BTW, I just checked on the old app and there are a myriad of times available for booking for the Catch.  I have an assumption that many of the tables are left open to make onboard.  Too many times in the past, large groups have booked up all the tables and those with premier packages couldn’t get a reservation once onboard.

From experience, there may be a wrinkle other than being in the Blue Lane when choosing to withhold your credit card information from Shoreside Transactions section to be aware of.  We did not find out until after disembarking that choosing to uncheck the box for Radiqal meant our onboard accounts were not linked.  Even though each account was settled to the same credit card we had registered when we checked in at the pier, because they were not linked, the non-refundable OBC in DH's account was not applied to offset my charges.  We did finally get resolution over a year later, but it was a nuisance, and ever since I have gone to Guest Services to be sure that the accounts were linked.  Just thought worth mentioning if it helps someone else avoid the same pitfall.

When I click on the all set the app displays the travel information page and this says that once every thing is completed the boarding pass will become available 11 days prior to your journey.

I hopes this helps

I do believe mine is showing the green lane and even shows a QR code in the next screen because I am so close to my sail date.  That’s pretty much how it worked in the old app as well … at least in the later versions.

So true and great info

Whichever line we sail we always use one card and always have folios linked

2 Weeks ago on SKY, noticed on Day 2 that my partner was not able to see my transactions and vice versa, quick trip to GS and got both on my card.

The account with NO card entered for Shoreside 👍🏻

Nancy

Nice that you spotted it when you did! 😊
