We are headed out in May to the ABC  islands cruise ( 8 day) We have diamond status on Royal and all that that entails. We don't expect too much, but hope to be surprised by Celebrity. What should we plan on  for first timers?

We also moved from RC to Celebrity late last year and cruised on Summit in November.  There were a few things that we loved and the first was that the hallways are open for you to drop off anything in your room.  There is a note that they are still working on the rooms but you're welcome to drop off items and then return later.

There were children but they were so well behaved that there was no running in the halls or around the pool areas.  The food is so much better and they even serve hand scooped ice cream in the Buffet.  We found that so many people used the stairs and this cruise had the most fit people we have ever cruised with.  So many other cruisers were polite and saying excuse me, thank you.

We received a mid trip review card to fill out and drop off at guest services.  Very nice to know if there are any problems while in the middle of a cruise they want to fix them. We loved our cruise and have booked several more with Celebrity since we came home.

The only con we have is being Diamond on RC gives us Elite but the free drinks are only for a few hours.  The first day of the cruise doesn't include any free drinks.

Forget about the free drinks, just enjoy the cruise.

We first started on Royal and loved the ships and atmosphere.  A big  difference we noticed included a lower energy level on Celebrity.  Less participants in dance parties and more late night activities.  Shows tended to be much better on Royal.   Celebrity does  have better food and many fewer children on the ships.  You will also find an older cruiser population on Celebrity.

@mwne2nks

Be sure to inform your Diamond Royal status to Celebrity's Captain's Club because it's not automatic. There are different membership numbers for each line. You will have Elite status on your May cruise

Elite status on Celebrity will entitle you to one free bag of laundry. There will be a bag in your stateroom (closet most likely, but ask your stateroom attendant if you can’t find it). It’s for up to 30 items, and they will be returned washed and folded in about 2 days. You need to tally your items on the laundry slip (4 tee shirts, 2 shorts, 2 pairs socks etc.) then write Elite Free Wash and Fold on the slip.  It’s a nice perk, as I can get my travel clothes freshened up for my return home.

There’s a gelato counter near Cafe Al Bacio, and you’re entitled to a free scoop once per cruise.

More than you expect. You will get reciprocal status to Elite from your Diamond status (not the points, the status)
