Finally some upbeat news from me!

 

DH's right hip-heel pain has been greatly alleviated by the epidural injection he had a few weeks ago. His right foot fall hasn't improved but, with that leg's pain relieved and a right foot brace, he is more able to use his walker.

 

With his right side stabilized, DH's pain doctor has recommended a gel type injection into his left knee. An eons ago ski injury and arthritis gives DH extreme bone on bone pain that his left knee brace only partially relieves. The injection was set for February but a cancellation put him on tomorrow's schedule!

 

And, in the final bit of upbeat news, it appears I have found the fix for our washer. It had been stalling mid-cycle not filling or spinning properly. Before I called repair, I found a report on-line that our model's electronics can get confused. It suggested unplugging the washer for 20 minutes to let its brain reset. What the heck? I figured it was worth a try. And, the washer is now working like brand new!

@ger_77Low on oxygen doesn't sound good.  I'm with @smitty34877 call the ER if he is not doing better this morning.  

 

I have no room to myself, unless i get up early and come to the Daily.  Once DH is up, we share everything all day long. At work in the living room, watching the TV, sleeping, eating, I know I should not complain, but everyone needs some alone time.  I need to get that shirt that says "Am I working from home, or living at work".

 

Speaking of shirts, @cat shepard where did you find that great picture of the cat aviator?  It must exist somewhere and I would love to get it for DH (air force). 

 

Thank you @aliaschieffor the pictures of Easter Island.  I have always been fascinated by the stone "gods" and have wanted to go.  Unless I buy a lottery ticket, and win, I will never get to go.  

 

@MISTER 67I too am a fan of Vera, Shetland, Foyles War, and Death in Paradise.  Midsumer Murders is my happy place.  Put it this way, if it's on Britbox, it will get watched.  I wish Midsumer was back on britbox, i'm currently having to watch commercials (OMG) while watching it on Roku.  The only show that I enjoy with American tv is Ghosts.

Herbed roasted chicken is always available in our dining rooms, and always good. The drink sounds good for me, and we used to always have a Korbel Brut in the fridge!  
 

Light rain after a drizzly drive yesterday. I think some of the salt got washed off the car, it needed a downpour! But the mirrors are coated with something, and it was a problem for me especially making the last merge from the interstate to the local highway coming off the cloverleaf as it was just dark out. Next time I may have to take the exit southbound to the next “jughandle” u-turn for a safer approach!  I kept re-living parts of the last two days instead of sleeping last night. I expect that will wear off soon.  It’s been a lot to absorb. 
 

DH remembered to tape his protective patch on last night for sleeping- I was a zombie. We have a few days to recover, Monday we check in with the NJ eye doctor. It’s supposed to snow, ugh!  The procedure was a tricky one, but the healing process is trickier. They created a new drainage path (to lower the eye pressure), sutured it to let it heal up but they will somehow guide the healing process so that the pressure stays in the right range without the eye drops…. that’s the plan! We may be going back to Maryland for some suture removal work in 3-4 weeks. Depends what both doctors decide. Whatever it takes!   Until the healing process completes, we have 2 different eye drop regimes to implement-old plan for one eye, new plan for the surgical eye, and that regime will keep changing, tapering. He’s scheduled for late April for surgery on the other eye when we do this all again. We’re at the beginning, heading down a new road!  Grateful for the amazing things they can do!  
 

I’m lifting up prayers for Roy and Maurice and Gerry. And Vanessa’s schedule.

@rafinmdRoy, my DH was prescribed an oral med prior to his radiation treatments to drop the psa.. hoping you get the needed results!  
@ger_77Gerry, you must be beside yourself!  Let somebody know what’s going on today!  Today!  Maybe a change in medication would help. Or a change in the schedule!  🙏 Please do not wait!

It stems from an essay of that title by Virginia Woolf, based on lectures that she had given at Newnham College and Girton College, two women's colleges at the University of Cambridge, in 1928. I would enjoy some herb-roasted chicken, but not the garlic one since garlic is one of the things I have to avoid for the time being. I wouldn't mind a screwdriver cocktail, either, but I'm exhausted by the never-ending arguments on social media about which type of screw head. Exactly what I think about the people perpetuating the arguments cannot be posted. Korbel Extra Dry was my go-to for a long time, although I never managed to persuade my doctor to diagnose me with a champagne deficiency. I haven't been to the Seychelles.

Good morning from a cloudy and chilly Quartzsite.  It is 53F and we should reach 65F this afternoon.  The clouds are supposed to disappear this afternoon beginning about 2 pm.  

 

Sometimes a room of one's own is nice.  I always try to not have clashing clothes on.  I will honor those astronauts who died in furthering our knowledge of space.

 

The quote is sometimes true.

 

Today is a red letter day in the F&B department.  We like the meal, drink and wine.  However, I won't be roasting a chicken until after our cruise.

 

We visited the Seychelles in 2000 on P&O Oriana's world cruise.  Pictures to come shortly.  We also celebrated Burns Night while on Oriana including the Presentation of the Haggis at dinner.  And, no we did not eat any haggis.

 

A good day in history for Sao Paulo and for Antarctica.

 

@rafinmd  Roy, I like your additions to the maps.  On the computer, the green is easy to see.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, your DD's tree is elegant.

@seagarsmoker  Congratulations on passing the background check and drug test.  There was never any doubt here.

@ger_77  Gerry, I'm sorry your DH's condition is getting worse so quickly.   I  hope the cardiologist will get him help asap.  If not, then  calling the ambulance might be your best choice.

@RMLincoln  Maureen, sending positive thoughts your way for a smooth healing process for your DH.

@kochleffel  Paul, thanks for the explanation of A Room of Your Own.  An interesting thing about the Korbel.  When our DD and DSIL were married on a Princess ship, we ordered a good champagne for the reception.  After the first round, DSIL's aunt who had been a bartender, told DH to switch to Korbel as it was just as good, less expensive, and no one would know the difference.

We were in Victoria, Mahe, Seychelles, on the Ides of March in 2000.  I have a few pictures that DH took with his new digital camera, but since he was driving the rental car, the pictures are from a couple of stops along the road.  I'll check to see if any of my old fashioned pictures are worth scanning.  In the meantime, here are some of DH's pictures.

 

We walked into town before deciding to rent a car.

 

A nice looking beach.  We were looking for a place to go snorkeling, but did not find one where we could park the car for a while and go in the water.  There is a nearby island with good snorkeling, that several people we knew took the ferry to and spent the day at the beach.

 

We stopped at a hotel for something to drink and to look around.  There was an enclosure where we found these guys.  They loved to have the underside of their necks rubbed and scratched.  One even followed me to the gate when we left so he could get more neck rubs.  I was surprised at how fast he would walk.

It’s sounding like he needs the evaluation facilities that are readily available at a hospital: lab, radiology, respiratory, etc., and professional staff experienced in evaluating emergencies.

My goodness, it would be nice to have some peace on this street this week!  This morning an 18 wheeler came by and unloaded huge piles of pine straw bales on the curb in several spots.  They are going to replenish the common ground areas scattered through our Pod with it.  Then next month they'll come by with pine straw for everyone's landscaping.  Well, when the truck finished dropping off bales across the street from our house, he pulled away and lo and behold!  The guy across the street now has his mailbox ripped off and lying on the grass!  What is going on here?  They just went on their way, and a supervisor in a white truck failed to report anything to the homeowner.  Just went on up the street.  After about 15 minutes, I decided he'd had enough time to 'fess up and called the man across the street to let him know who did it in case he was busy and didn't notice.  The trucks would just leave and he wouldn't know what happened.  I've never met him before since they've lived here a relatively short time and own their own business so don't spend much time outside.  I left a phone message about the mailbox and the straw company 18 wheeler being the culprit.  He returned my call minutes later and came outside to see what could be done.  He had actually placed a letter in the mailbox earlier today to be mailed and it was fine then.  He stopped the white pick up truck guy and demanded a phone number to call.  Then a new supervisor showed up and I think they've come to an agreement on it.  Justice will be served!  📫

Not sure what started the conversation about British TV but I love Luther; maybe I just like be Idris Elba🤣. With regards to some of the other shows mentioned, have you read the books?  I suggest you read Ann Cleaves’ Vera series in order.  Her Shetland novels are also excellent.  I love her birdwatching references.  
 

I hope everyone gets the medical care they need as quickly as possible.  Positive thoughts to those who need them.  Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.
