When I feel things are going poorly, I always think of Anne Frank.  If Anne could think that most people were good, given her situation, I can have hope.  When I traveled to Europe with students we often visited both Anne Frank's house and Dachau.  Both were very sobering experiences.  At Dachau there was an elderly man who used to direct traffic in the parking lot.  He had been imprisoned in Dachau and dedicated his life to teaching others so that they might not repeat that history.

I also visited a concentration camp in Alsace, France named Natzweiler Struthof.  They have a museum and you can visit the memorial at the foot of the hill.  The day I was there was bitterly cold and I could only think of those poor people in those thin pajama outfits standing in the cold for hours.

@kazu and @Haljo1935....I would encourage you to check out Honest Kitchen pet food.  Quality food made here in the USA.

Thanks - I am very happy with Ivan’s Fromm food - I switched to it years ago after vet discussions and research and my past dogs did very well on it.  Ivan is doing well on it and thriving so I’m happy.

I did take a look at it though.  I don’t see a real difference in price - especially living in Canada.  thank you though.

@kazuJacqui, how did you get a photo from our front window. 😂 The

moon, trees and water are almost identical!

Honest Susie - I don’t have a drone snooping on you 😂. Looks like you have a lovely view though if it’s identical 😊

In addition to the moon rising over the water, we love watching the ships heading to the port of Tacoma and the planes on the runway at SeaTac. But I will watch out for any drones 😜.

Good cloudy afternoon, rain tomorrow ending as flurries on Monday morning.

I went shopping this afternoon at a favorite country/ primitive craft store that sadly has decided to close after 30 years due to the owners health issues. They are having 50% off sales every few weeks until everything is sold . Today I got an Easter wooden rabbit that matches one I bought several years ago. I’m sad to see them close but wish them healing  prayers.

Blessings and prayers to all on our lists and safe travels to all our friends heading for cruises.

Good afternoon. I just returned from the DGS’s two basketball games. My DS is the coach and it was just so much fun to see all the interactions. Tonight they are taking me to a nice restaurant for a belated birthday celebration.

I decided I better head home tomorrow as snow is forecasted for both here and back home in NY. I hope to get home before it starts.

@dfish, Debbie, I agree with you about Ann Frank’s optimism in terrible times. I will never forget being in that house in Amsterdam and how it felt.

I had quite a few patients over the years that were survivors of concentration camps. They often felt the need to tell their stories and listening often felt physically painful but so necessary.

@ger_77, I hope the pacemaker adjustment and medication changes bring relief for your DH.

@luvteaching, Enjoy the family party today.

Have a great day everyone

Good afternoon, Dailyites, so nice to hear all the news!  I hope the  changes to Maurice's medications solve or at least help, @ger_77!  Pat was getting really uppity after his good report, but we spent most of yesterday at the hospital emergency room with one of his nasty nosebleeds.  The doctor kept trying to find the spot that was bleeding, but eventually said he thought it was too high up in the nostril for him to get at and Pat would need to see a specialist.   After 7 hours on pretty uncomfortable chairs and stools, I was sooo tired, we had lunch at 3:30 after we got home, and I just made a very small salad for our supper.  I am recovering today!  We are in for an atmospheric river for the next few days, but at least it is quite warm outside (in the 50's) we haven't had the heat on.

Pat had an English colleague (RIP) a long time ago who had been at one of the concentration camps when the prisoners were released.  I asked him about it, he couldn't speak, just shook his head. It must have been horrifying.  I know my father never talked about his time in the Japanese camp in Shanghai.

Good morning (the 28th) from the lovely Volendam! We are having 2 lazy sea days before arriving in Australia. This has been a great cruise!

At home (the 27th) today is our daughter’s 45th birthday — how did my youngest get that old? 🤣😉
It seems like yesterday when I was 45 myself.

Prayers for all on the Care list and cheers for all celebrating.

Just a quick check-in.  I looked at the Port of Miami webcam just in time to catch them setting off fireworks to celebrate the Icon of the Seas departure.  7,600 passengers?  No thanks.

@ger_77 I hope the new regimen works for Maurice and his symptoms subside until a more permanent solution is found.  I'll be thinking about both of you.

@Vict0riann Wow on those nosebleeds.  I hope the specialist can find a solution.

@Cruising-along Happy Birthday to Amanda!

I am all packed and the suitcases are in the car.  All we have to do is get up, get dressed and drive away .

Thank you again to Eva @superoma for being my substitute.  You will all be in very capable hands!

Good day and thanks all.   Prayers and gentle hugs to those that need them!

@Cruising-along glad you are having such a nice time,   Happy  birthday to your DD!   Our daughter was born 10 days later and will achieve the same age, as Roy says.   I share your thoughts,  it doesn’t seem possible!

I will jump in on the dog food,  our beloved Labrador lived until nearly 17 on Kirkland  lamb and rice food,   Our vet couldn’t believe his age but had seen him from a pup.

We have very much enjoyed visiting Kefalonia,  the novel  Captain Corelli’s Mandolin is set there as is the movie.   The water is that blue!

Agree no thanks to that large a ship, but great timing on you checking the webcam - very cool picture.

A late good evening.  It turned into an eventful and fun afternoon.  The weather was good, even if it could have been five degrees warmer.  We took the RZRs out for an hour or so, and it was as much fun as ever.  Quartzsite is in the Sonoran Desert which is ever changing and always interestimg.  We covered quite a bit of territory.  After we got home, I had time to sit outside enjoying the peace and my book.

We topped the day off by splitting a ribeye, along with loaded baked potatoes, a tossed salad and of course, wine.  DH has a nack for grilling the best steaks, and today was no exception.

This would be a good case for small claims court. National companies often don't even show up, resulting in a default judgment, but a judge would probably accept your testimony and photo evidence.

Paul, that was what I was thinking, and in most cases, you don't need a lawyer.

Ann, I hope the specialist can find the cause of Pat's nosebleeds, and a way to prevent more.

Jacqui, what a wonderful and difficult thing for your uncle to do.  I can't imagine how hard it was to open up to strangers about his experiences, and to follow it up with the fund raising for verterans.
