Heavy rain continues to batter North West Qld off the back of cyclone Kirrily.

 

six trucks had managed to get through to Mt Isa on Friday night via SA and NT to restock local supermarkets. Qld Govt approved Sunday trading so residents could stock up in case roads were cut again.

All a bit of a fizzer really.  We board P&O Encounter on Saturday 10/2 for a four day cruise to Airlie.  Hopefully all goes well.We are in Brisbane and have had no rain for 2 weeks in our suburb.  My son is in Mackay, no rain there for the last week.

There are no cyclones Chez. In cruising terms, a storm in a teacup.

 

Lincoln wasn't going to affect any cruising, and was barely a cat 1 for around 6hrs before it turned back over the NT coast. Likely a rough night for those on Pellew Islands and some flooding in the Gulf country, but no threat to Luminosa. The next few days look rather calm. Have a great cruise.

No cyclones near Brisbane, but torrential rain and local flooding all night Thursday/Friday.  Went for a walk along a creek today and you could see how high the water had been rushing through.

Cyclone Lincoln is reforming off Broome, WA.  What an interesting journey this cyclone has followed!

Interesting track, which would make for a really unusual cyclone, but the BOM has changed their mind on it reforming. There are several models for cyclone tracking, and the one the BOM chose named "Lincoln" during a 6 hr period a week ago in the gulf of Carpentaria. Several other models show that the storm didn't reach a high enough intensity to be considered a cyclone.

 

For all of the concerns that the term cyclone conjures, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne have all had more intense storms this past week.

Just off Majestic Princess (13N Sth Pacific 10-23rd) yesterday. No cyclones for us but a persistent low pressure system around Fiji caused some poor weather for our cruise. A bit bumpy & windy, with a fair amount of rain, in transit to & fro and around Fiji.

Very wet for the Suva port stop, rain late in day in Lautoka and Dravuni Is cancelled due to swell. Vila was nice day and lovely day in Noumea on Tuesday.
