Labadee?

I thought I had read somewhere that when the new dock was built, the ability to tender was eliminated. Don’t ask me where I read it or if I am even remembering correctly.

Never mind that they don’t have capacity for another 6k passengers from an Oasis-class ship.

According to post #150 it seems they can pull off tendering if they need to.

You are assuming that it would be an O class ship that is diverted. Even if it is they could have the pier and a regularly scheduled V/F class ship could move to tendering. Do you think RCI really cares if the place is over run with passengers? Maybe, but I doubt it.

Symphony and Oasis both stop at Labadee regularly.  Oasis includes CocoCay in many of their itineraries in addition to Labadee so that would be a repeat stop. Symphony does not regularly call at CocoCay.

And I agree that if they decide to tender a ship, it will be the smaller ship that gets bumped from the dock.

I’m sure CocoCay has a limit to number of passengers but it is much higher than passengers will appreciate. And with the opening of Hideaway, I expect they think they can add more passengers.

I’m not assuming anything. Oasis and Symphony regularly call in Labadee. A Coco Cay with 2 ships already cannot accommodate another 6k guests.

Explorer is there today, but seems to have turned off AIS Tracking?

The couple times I checked yesterday it was not showing a current location for the ship that was there (Symphony?) so it was just “passenger vessel” showing as docked at Labadee.

Use a site like cruisemapper, which uses sat positioning info in addition to AIS.

I did. 46 mins ago it showed EoS far off the coast but it has since updated.

MarineTraffic, com shows a ship at the Labadee pier as of minutes ago. it does not provide the name unless you have a pay account when the information is obtained from a satellite source.image.thumb.png.3167b9b7dd6484edf7690f7c15f47713.png

Or just use cruisemapper which has it for free.

https://www.cruisemapper.com/?poi=824

All morning, cruise mapper was showing an hours old location for the Explorer or the Seas.  I noticed the same thing yesterday.  I see it now has caught up though and is showing it docked at Labadee.

It looks like AandBmom was just trying to stir the pot.

I have no idea why you are suggesting that I was trying to stir the pot. I simply posted something that was shared in another group as a quote. I didn't claim that it was 100% accurate or that I knew the information first-hand. I just thought it might be a helpful addition to the conversation in case it turns out to be accurate. I know you don't know me so you have no idea of my character but I wouldn't post something just to be difficult

Food...jewelry, hostage for ransom...

Plenty of info on cruise sites to plan accordingly. Few boats with automatic weapons could take hostages, loot the ship, including the casino. Would be a nightmare. Highly unlikely but, people claiming it can't be done are naïve to how the real world works.

Just read this is another forum...

"I talked to RC today. They said it’s a serious issue and have taken Haiti off upcoming cruises until April 8 and replaced it with CoCo Cay. They said they are most likely going to change upcoming cruises beyond 4/8 as well and our April 22nd one will likely not go to Haiti. They explained that it’s not a separate island but just a fenced off part of the mainland and guest safety comes first.

I agree it’s not as fun of a topic as other posts are but nonetheless extremely important.. nothing like this has happened there before. They have taken over airports and Haiti is reporting basically a collapse of their government."

If this was true it'd be all over the cruise news websites. And you can't just randomly send ships to Coco Cay on a whim.

Didn’t Michael Bayley say that hideaway bay adds about 3-4000 capacity? So enough for a 3rd ship (not 3 oasis class though).

Did they say anything about the situation in Haiti?
