@ger_77 I am tired after reading of your excursion.  How lucky Gord and Ollie are to have you and Maurice as friends.  What a wonderful thing you did!  Best wishes for Gord for a full recovery.

@Haljo1935 Do book the TA.  We are going to have a blast.  Start collecting cocktails from the drink of the day that we can sample on board.

@summer slope Dixie, I hope the aches and pains subside soon.

A blessed Good Friday to all who observe it.  Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie.    Best wishes to @ger_77's friends Gord and Ollie, you are certainly a true friend to them.  Wishing Dixie rapid healing.

I'll pass on the Mermaid Day but celebrate the other 2 days, and the Capote quote is spot on.

I've been to Nuuk twice, I think exactly 10 years apart, 9/9/06 on a Crystal Symphony transatlantic, and 9/9/16 on Crystal Serenity's Northwest Passage cruise.

I saw the Terra Cotta Warriors in person in as a side trip on  a Yangtze River cruise in 2001.  They are amazing in person.

I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Pinnacle Caesar Salad, Petit Filet, and Baked Alaska as served in MS Zaandam's Pinnacle Grill March 29, 2017:

dishes29.jpg

One of the things I was looking for on my Wegmans run this morning was not to be found, so I had to find a substitute that I do not expect to like as well.  Later this morning I got a phone message that the item was recalled due to contamination.  I still have a couple servings of that item that will need to go in the trash.

DD arrived home safely 8 hours after leaving our home.  It is 515 miles in distance.  She said just a few minutes before she got home she was delayed 10 minutes by an accident ahead of her at an intersection, or she would have been home that much earlier.  I hope all our other travelers have an uneventful journey.

Gerry, I hereby nominate you for Super Woman Status.  With all of things that you are dealing with, with Maurice's Heart issues, and family coming for the Easter Holiday, and at the drop of a hat, you drop everything to help out with your friends Gord and Ollie.  All that you do for others really stands out on Good Friday.  I would nominate you for sainthood, but unfortunately, I am not Catholic so Super Woman is the best I can do. May God Bless you, as you have blessed so many other people.

Good Friday Morning Dailyites!

The neurologist said, that if the numbness and tingling came from the thumb and the index finger, it was carpel tunnel (the reason I gave up guitar playing) if it was the pinky and ring finger, it was the elbow. and of course it was the elbow, so, this is what i need to do. Stop sleeping on my right side, keep my arm stretched out when i sleep, start doing my at home exercises that I did at PT, and not lean on my elbow.  See him in 3 months.  If I do what he wants, it should cure itself.  If I dont cure it, then they run tests.

@dfish I like the sound of the meal, but you can take out the broccoli, I will add lettuce. or other leafy greeny thingy.  Just not broccoli.

The terra cotta soldiers (well a few of them and their horses) were sent to the US to attend museums. And they were sent to the museum at the art center where I worked, so I spent several lunch hours with them. What a fascinating find that was.

Nuuk, Greenland

On August 12, 2018 we stopped in Nuuk on our Route of the Vikings II cruise on Seabourn Quest.  This cruise took an extensive look at Greenland with 7 ports of call plus scenic cruising in Prince Christian Sound.  Nuuk is the capital and largest city in Greenland with a population of over 19,000 in 2022.

We docked and had shuttle buses to take us away from the pier to the downtown area.

We visited Nuuk on August 24, 2003, as part of a 33 day roundtrip cruise from NYC that included two stops above the Artic Circle in Greenland and all the way to St. Petersburg with many stops in between before returning to NYC.  It was the precursor of the VOV, and it was also a very unusual cruise, at least for the part between NYC and Iceland.  We were scheduled to sail the day after the big blackout, but wound up sailing very early the next morning.  We were lucky to make the ship thanks to the ticket agent at DFW.  She routed us and another couple to what was then Washington National and then on the shuttle to the Coast Guard Terminal at La Guardia which had it's own power supply.  We were joined by a cruising friend for the shuttle flight.  We were lucky we made the ship that day, and with our luggage.  Many were so lucky and many did not get their luggage until days later and some in Iceland.

The day we were in Nuuk, it was raining the the town was very muddy so we did not walk around too much.

A small museum was open that day.

Our adventure continued after leaving Nuuk.  There was a bad storm with huge waves, and the Captain had to head the ship back toward Canada for two days.  One of the nights was a formal night, and while I was getting ready for dinner at second seating, DH was in the Crow's Nest until a wave came over the top of the ship.  We had a window table on the lower level of the dining room and the waves were above the bottom of the window.  We managed to eat our dinner without much incident except the other man's shrimp cocktail landed in his lap, fortunately on this napkin.  At that time, they still showed the desserts on a large tray, and when we hit a very big wave which caused the ship to shutter violently and almost stop, the tray, which was behind me landed upside down on the floor.  Others had everything on their table land on the floor, and several people upstairs were thrown out of the chairs with one lady having some ribs broken..

We learned later that water had breeched a door above the showroom and water poured down the stairs in the showroom and onto the stage during the first show.  The water shorted out the electrical system in around the stage, and they could not have bingo the next morning because of lack of power for the bingo machine.  It was fixed for the afternoon bingo session.

That wave also bent the thick metal at the top edge of the bow.

Nice photos Lenda.

@kazu my only advice is word of mouth. One of our best dog sitters was our son’s friend.   He would even sleep on the couch to be near the dog!  He was special.  We had an older retired couple but they didn’t really understand dogs.  Praying you find someone excellent, soon.  Sorry so much rain is falling literally and figuratively.

Thanks Brenda.  I did word of mouth but sadly so far they are either booked right up or only available for some of the days.  Waiting to hear from my dog trainer friend - she may have a lead for me.

Otherwise it’s the interviews I am proceeding with and request for references.

But, once this kerflfuffle is over, I will be reaching out to the ones I got by word of mouth to discuss my other dates and possibilities.

I think time has faded them somewhat and the lighting was not great but this will should give one a bit of an idea of the grandeur of the Terra Cotta Army:

Good afternoon. I made it to New Hampshire safely and the traffic was oddly minimal. Even in Connecticut. My handsome granddog was happy to see me and get outside.

@Seasick Sailor, Joy, I hope poor Oliver is ok. Those things are big.
Sorry to hear of more friends who are very ill.

@ger_77,Gerry, I was so sorry to hear about the hospitalization of your friend. I am sure his wife was glad to have you there.

Good morning Dailyites. Warming to 78 and cloudy for Georgetown.

Poor Oliver was sick during the night. He threw up a whole placker. For those who don't know,  it is a curved plastic dental pick. I haven't been this scared in a long time. He's stuck like glue to me, and I'm watching him like a hawk. Meanwhile I have texted my game night girls and warned them AGAIN not to leave these sitting anywhere! I'm not going anywhere today!

Prayers out to so many this morning. I added 2 more to my book. One friend visited her mom back east this week. On the 2nd day, her mom was admitted to the hospital and is now brain dead and moved to hospice. Major stroke. The other friend is very sick with lung issues due to the illness. It never stops.

Remember I told you about the cement truck that hit the school bus head on last week carrying pre K kids to the zoo, killing 2 and many injured? Well, he admitted yesterday he had been smoking marijuana the night before, only got 3 hours sleep before work, and took cocaine to keep him awake. He needs to be hung by his heels.

I never realized I was making a sub salad. I use these ingredients mostly in the summer. Thanks Deb for the recipe. I use the red wine vinegar dressing.

Virtual vacation day is celebrated quite a but at our house! Always dreaming about a BHB.

Have a great weekend. Blessings and friendship to all on our Daily!

I'm sorry to hear Oliver has been so unwell Joy.

Prayers for your dear friend whose mam is in hospice after a massive stroke.

Prayers also to another one of your friends with lung issues.

@kazu  Have you asked your vet for recommendations?  Since they make house calls I would think they would be a good resource or your groomer?

Yes, and my groomer and dog trainer I know and trust.  My request is just too late - they are booked.

However, at least I have names for the future and once this is done, I will take care of my future dates.  The first thing I always do before booking a cruise is book my dogs.  Arrangements were in place long ago.  It is what it is.

My usual wine shop is a Mom and Pop business, and when I was last there, Mom was at the cash register. I could eat the vegetarian version of the salad. No on the drink, not only because of the name but also because of the way it would taste. For a another Bordeaux blend, Keuka Spring Millers Cove Red, which has been awarded Best in Show and Best New York State Red Wine three times. A relative bargain at $24.99. I want to visit Greenland but I have no reason to think that I ever will.

I've had a shopping list for Target for a while, but this morning it became urgent when the 5-cup coffeemaker broke. It considerately made the morning cuppa before giving up the ghost.

Taking a quick break before getting back to work.  We got most of the sunscreens on the windows.  There are four left for later, since they are for windows under the patio covers and don't get direct sunlight, so they will wait until late Sunday afternoon.  Otherwise, it would make those rooms too dark.  It's about time to bring the laundry in off the line and to get the sheets out of the dryer.  I also need to unload the dishwasher.  After that, I'll tackle more of the to-do list.

Annie, I really hope the exercises work and you won't need further tests or surgery.  With your hectic schedule, you might need to set aside a certain time every day to do the excercises.
