Carolyn, I hope the news about Amber is better.  Thanks for the pictures from Sydney.

Thank you Lenda -- I did get some good news about Amber!  She has a long way to go, of course, and we don't know yet if there will be any permanent damage, but last night she was alert for the first time and making eye contact.  She seemed to process what had happened and where the children were (with BFF).  After first being emotional, she calmed herself down.  So a step forward!

I told BFF about the Care List we have, and the prayers coming -- she was so very thankful!

I'm very glad to hear that your cyst isn't calcified and no surgery is needed!  Yay!

That is truly good news.  May Amber continue to progress and recover completely.

@Quartzsite Cruiser I'm glad the hand x-ray told you want you wanted.   Those cysts can be tricky.  I had one right on the joint and my friend NJ, the doctor, guessed it was one of those Bible thumper cysts.  Well, I wasn't going to hit my finger with a heavy book to find out, so I punctured it with my lancet to check my blood sugar.  NJ was right and I got enough fluid out of it that it cleared up the rest of the way on its own.  It had been pretty painful.

Today's meal drew my attention to a recipe I came across.  It is spinach artichoke salmon wellington.  You make up some spinach and artichoke dip, but make it pretty thick.  Cut a pouch in the salmon and stuff it with the dip.  Spread the rest of the dip on the top and then encase the salmon in fresh spinach leaves.  You then cover it with puff pastry and bake it.  I think I might try that one.

We have had a few more outages this morning and early afternoon including the TV signal.

Just to post and tell you all that Jim appreciates all the wonderful Birthday wishes.

I am afraid that if I try to name you all I will lose connection. So it will have to suffice that I group you all together.

We feel truly blessed.

Good morning again!

I just paid off my 4th - and last for 2024 - Alaska cruise this morning! My credit card has been getting a workout but that's fine. Now I have 4 Alaska cruises out of Seattle - June is Majestic Princess and so far I'm solo on that one; July is Westerdam and I have a friend who is a first time cruiser and first timer to Alaska going with me; August is Discovery Princess and another friend who is a first time cruiser and first timer to Alaska is going; and finally the Eurodam in September and one set of friends has a cabin down the hall, we're all trying Club Orange, and I may have a friend going in my cabin with me who will be a first time cruiser. It should be an interesting summer! Now off to do laundry and get the parking taken care of for the September cruise.

Thanks to all for the lovely birthday wishes for DN Lisa!  She is such a sweetheart, and told me she is on her way to the park to play with Elliott Rose and momma Jordan today.  What could be better?

Roy @rafinmd thanks so much for posting your photos of unusual spots in Sydney.  The Opera House, theaters and the camping.  We need to see more of your photos of port of the day.

Dixie @summer slope don't worry about it the drink.  We're fine with both drinks!  Are you and George almost packed for your Disney cruise?

Terri @Cruzin Terri thanks for posting the whole poem by Longsworth about Paul Revere.  I don't think I've ever read the whole thing before.  Pretty impressive!

Edited to say:  Should have mentioned, DS Linda is doing okay.  Had more pain last night than the night before but got some sleep.  She agrees she has a high tolerance for pain. She says it usually gets worse before it gets better.  She is doing absolutely nothing today which sounds good to me.

Working on it Sandi.

More progress made in getting settled back in Texas after two weeks.  I finally got the rest of the canned goods off the motorhome.  It was needed, since I bought things last week that I had but didn't know I had.  For now, but not long, the pantry is organized.  We then headed outside in the humidity to go through more things from the motorhome.  It is humid and making us think we're back near Houston, so we're taking a short break to cool off.  We're making progress, and separating things into keep, put on the new motorhome or sell at the fall garage sale.

Carolyn, I'm glad things are improving with Amber.  Yes, it's good news that I don't need surgery.  Since it is the middle finger, I was afraid I'd be stuck with it sticking straight out while it healed.  🤣

Debbie, I'm happy about the results too.  I had a cyst on my other hand that was not as firm as this one, and it disappeared after a few years.  Glad you could get your cyst cleared up easily.

Karen, I bet you have some new cruise/Alaska addicts as friends after this summer.

I's try the sandwich if somebody made it for me -- I'm not into 2 hours of prep work for a sandwich.

For me, sandwiches have to be quick to make.  The longest I'll spend on making a sandwich is a Rueben.

Debbie's salmon Wellington recipe reminded me of a recipe I came across a few years ago.  I haven't tried it, but a friend did and liked it.

SALMON IN PASTRY

12 oz. puff pastry (thawed if frozen)                          3 T unsalted butter, softened

2 (6-7 oz.) salmon fillets                                              salt and freshly ground black pepper

2 T chopped fresh parsley                                          1 egg, lightly beaten

2 T chopped fresh basil

Preheat oven to 400oF.

Roll pastry into four pieces, each about 5x8”.  Transfer two pieces to a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Remove skin from salmon and place in center of pastry pieces.

In a small bowl, combine parsley, basil and butter, and stir until thoroughly mixed.  Season with salt and pepper.  Spread the butter mixture on top of the salmon.

Dip pastry brush into beaten egg and let excess run off.  Brush edges of pastry egg.  Cover each piece with the remaining pastry.

Pinch pastry together firmly to seal; then lightly press tines of a dinner fork along edges for a decorative effect.  Brush top of pastry with remaining egg.  With a sharp knife, cut two small slits into top of each pastry so steam can vent.

Bake 20 minutes or until pastry has risen and is crisp and golden.  Do not over bake.

Good afternoon. Back from dermatologist and all is well. Have to recheck in 6 months but that is ok. Hopefully all that sunscreen I slathered on while on the Grand Australia will pay off. There were times I felt I was downright slippery.

So.... now back to work. Good news on Amber and on Lenda's cyst. Hope others on our care list are as fortunate moving forward.

Loved Sydney. Spent a full week. Went to The Ticks twice, fantastic interactive museum there. Bought a boomerang 🪃, love it. NZ had to review it for safety as I was importing wood!  Attended a symphony and had a tour of the Opera House on DH’s birthday!  Wonderful pictures!  Thank so much. Nice to have my happy memories jogged.
Otherwise we’re all on edge, just waiting.. awful feeling. We’ve been walking more. Good distraction. Hip is not loving it but managing ok.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I'll salute monuments and sights, and try to visit many. I'm sure I ate animal crackers as a kid, but I don't recall eating them. Lineman should be appreciated; around here 40k were in the dark last night after storms rolled through. My brain can't process the quote. I'll pass on the meal and try the drink (I've had a Long Island Iced Tea). The wine sounds promising. I have been to Sydney, on my first HAL cruise from Auckland to Sydney.

I'm beat. It's a lovely 68F and sunny out. I slept about 4 hours, then was off to pick up BFF, to take him for his MOHS procedure. For the first time, after about 5 first pass successes, he had to have a second pass. So we were for about 5 hours. Then we went to lunch. Then stopped at Aldi to pick up some things for us both, and took BFF home. Then the drive back to my house.

@StLouisCruisers Thanks for starting us up today. Great photos from Sydney. Happy Birthday to your DN Lisa!

@grapau27 Thanks for the explanations of days.

@MISTER 67 Congrats on the golf score.

@aliaschief Great photos. You deserve a good rest after the rigorous tour schedule you've had recently.

@Cruzin Terri Sorry about your internet troubles. Happy Birthday to Jim!

@kazu Good news that the foot nurse specialist got you on the right track and that the doctor gave you the ok to cruise. Just take it easy.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Lovely photos from Sydney. Good news on the x-ray and lab work. When I had a hand US for RA, it showed a cyst in the middle of my hand, but no one seems bothered about it.

@smitty34877 You and Tana deserve to take it easy, especially if you had a long day yesterday. I hope it recharges you both.

@rafinmd Sorry to hear that the dentist found a tooth that has to go. Nice photos from Sydney.

@Nickelpenny I just looked on my insurance company website this AM, and it said the authorization for my surgery on Monday is "processing"!! I hope the website is just behind, but I will make some calls tomorrow.

@Cruising-along Great news about Amber! Continued prayers for her. Thanks for the photos from today's port.

@luvteaching That is amazing about the kidney donation. Hugs for tomorrow.

@durangoscots Good news from the Derm visit.

@RMLincoln I'm sure the family is on edge. Hugs.

Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

I have never been to Sydney and my age and medical problems now forbid it. Thank you to everyone who posted photos. Same with Mumbai, thanks for the photos.

I love spinich/artichoke dip and I love grilled cheese sandwiches but the thought of mashing them togather is very off putting.

I had my semi-annual neurological exam yesterday and my mild peripheral neuropathy remains unchanged.  I have not had any colitis flares or bronchial flares for several months and generally I am feeling good except for the frequent, severe fatigue that is heart related. I am scheduled for an enhanced CT of heart and lungs on April 29th then a week later the cardiologist at Banner University will let me know if I am a candidate for the TMVR study, if more tests are needed or if I am not a candidate. If yes he will refer me to the reseachers for hopeful approval.

@kazu I am very happy to see that your foot is improving and you will be able to cruise.  Remind your self to take it very easy.

Prayers for all who need them, whether mentioned or not and hurrahs for those who don't.

Jane

Thanks to @StLouisCruisersfor doing the report and to @rafinmdfor the maps.

Great to see the Nieuw Statendam in the area where we will board in a couple of weeks!

@kazuwonderful to hear that your cruise is on!

And here's Franklin (gone but not forgotten), lying in front of a book about him. At least that's what he thought.

@Quartzsite Cruiser The salmon in pastry sound good and fairly easy to make.  I keep forgetting to tell you that I bought a hula hoe and I love it!  It makes short work of weeding the front gardens.

I keep forgetting about the salmon or if I remember, I don't have the pastry.  Glad the hula hoe is working for you.  It doesn't work in grass though.

Vanessa, I'm sorry BFF's MOHS took two passes.  I hope you get the insurance approval for your surgery.  Thanks for the pictures of Sydney.  DH wanted to climb the bridge, but I was a chicken -- heights.

Jane

Jane, I'm glad you have not had any colitis or bronchial flares for several months.  I hope you ar approved for the TMVR study.

Knowing not much about adding things to maps, etc.--would it be difficult to add a red star at the Destination of Day location? Some ports are very familiar but others can be huh, where's that? Thanks! I do appreciate your maps.

Jacqui I am so happy to read that you can carry on with your cruise.  So glad you are getting airport assistance.  🍾🛳️🎆

Lenda, so glad you didn't have a serious issue with your hand.   Thanks for the lovely photos of Sydney.

Good evening, I hope everyone had a great day today.

I’m a little frustrated with Hershey Medical Center. About a month ago I noticed a change in my appointment with the neurologist from June to August, when I called to question the change and why I wasn’t notified of the change, they claimed a letter was sent on March 18th.(never received). Forward to my Botox appointment on March 29th, same office, I brought up again about the change in my appointment and why they didn’t notify me and asked to be rescheduled for something earlier. Nothing available. This afternoon, 3 weeks after discussing this in person, I get a voicemail from them saying that they need to change my appointment from June to August. I have serious concerns about the lack of communication.
Have a good night.

Probably not very likely as it would be a guess at best if I even know what the port of the day is when I prepare the maps.

Thank you everyone for all of your very kind posts.  There are just too many of you to list them all Ior I will run out of time 😉 )

My BFF was very relieved and happy when she got the call.

I believe I I am mostly packed.  I didn’t realize how much room my styrofoam roller board would take,  Yikes!  I’ll be leaving it behind when I come home.  It’s for my physio and I have the big one at home.

I got the bear down from the fireplace mantle to take and Ivan’s eyes lit up (new toy).  He never got such a hard no in his life.  It used to be on the table but Mr. “I love stuffed toys” would not be able to resist it.  LOL.
The door to the living room was open as I was working upstairs on packing and bringing the stuff down and it was untouched. It was buried a bit but if has wanted to…..

Somebody was looking for my live thread today.  I told them I didn’t know if I could go until this morning.  LOL.

Way behind on clean up - Ivan takes time.  I better make a list for tomorrow.

thanks again for all your kindnesses, prayers and best wishes.
