Dinner….

 

Tonight’s menu: 

 

Our waiter had arranged a chef’s special for dinner…. 

So we only had the spring rolls for starters. 

 

They were okay. 

 

Earlier on the sailing it was the vegetarian korma on the menu. I asked him if it was “tourist” edition or Indian version…. Our Indian waiter said, more of the tourist experience…. (Also my experience from earlier sailings) 

And I said to him that it’s okay, but a bit sad. Because Indian food is very good and is complex in flavour and taste. That’s why it’s very good 😊 

So he was on fire happy when I told him that we do enjoy Indian food🤩

 

So tonight he had asked for something for us….. 

 

it’s was vegetarian chickpeas, (I do make this at home often) they were delicious and creamy. 

And lamb chops in sauce. This was not a spicy dish but a very tasty combination of spices. It had a very wide range of different flavours when you had a bite. When you took a bite the first impression was a tingling touch of spicy, but not strong just a careful touch. As you processed your bite, the flavour of the lamb was calling, then a touch of cinnamon, cumin, anise and Bay leaf. 

So a very nice treat for us😋😋😋

 

The Queen really enjoyed it🥰

 

Dessert menu: 

 

Just an observation…. The lava cake is on for several days😇 (not bad for me😂😂) But usually one night only! 

 

We had a little visit to our table…. 

Before dinner I dropped off an attention to details card…. 

I said that our housekeeper Lerma is doing a great service. Cabin is spotless 24/7 and she’s very attentive and friendly. 

Our night light in the bathroom is not functioning, is it completely out or is it just the lightbulb that has died?  (We will see if it suddenly goes on😇) 

The food has until now tasted good and presentation is good. 

But the ice cream has really gone downhill and you need to work on it. The after eight, chocolate and vanilla ice cream was really not okay. It was wrong taste and the texture is just not right. 

It’s completely lacking the texture of velvet and a “body”. 

 

The supervisor is a familiar face from last year. He is very friendly, perhaps the dessert/ ice cream chef will listen? 

Fingers crossed that they will get back on track on the ice cream 🍨 

 

We received ice cream today 😅

This was not from the MDR ice cream station….. 

 

It was vanilla and raspberry sorbet. 

That vanilla was Mmmm and the raspberry sorbet was just as delicious as always😋😛😛😛

So yes, someone on the ship can definitely make ice cream! 

 

The texture was 👍🏻👍🏻 certainly creamy and it had a full body texture of velvet and vanilla. 

The sorbet was light refreshing and had the full body texture of velvet. 

So you can make it! 

 

As the “weak” spot of desserts was on the menu today (again) I had to accompany the ice cream to a lava cake😆😅😋 ( I had logged 18.500 steps on my Istanbul walk, I had earned it😝) 

The lava cake was delicious again tonight. 

They really do make it good 👍🏻

Today is Senior Officer Party

 

this was on our bed last night

They have invited the Queen to come with me🥰 that’s nice of them to put her onto the invitation. (Otherwise I would have “sneaked” her inside😂😂) 

It’s nice to bring her as my + one to the event. (Since it’s only us travelling together)

I started the day out on deck. 

Both the front and aft section was closed off for maintenance when I arrived for my walking trip….

So for the first 35 minutes of walking, I was only able to walk the running track around deck 11. 

Then they opened up the rest of the way😎

It was a bit windy and chilly outside. 

 

But a perfect time to go walking. We where sailing in the strait⚓️💙🤩 

So a lovely view and a great way to enjoy both sides🙂

 

After an hour the Queen texted me… I’m downstairs on the terrace for breakfast… 

So I walked the final round and went downstairs to her🙃

She had picked up her preferred breakfast and was eating. 

 

I went inside to get some breakfast for myself. It had just turned 10 and they were closed in many sections already. 

So I was ready for a poached egg 🥚 but NO, they had closed already…. 

Then it was yogurt and muesli…. 

Another day….😇 it will be poached eggs 🥚 

 

After my quick breakfast, the Queen walked off to find a sun lounger. 

I told her, you must find one in a place that have shade from the wind 💨😉

 

I went downstairs to change out of my walking clothes. 

 

You know the Queen are not properly trained🤪😜😝 

When I returned to our cabin, the sign deep sleep was still up🫡 YEP, she’s not trained yet🤭🤔 Sorry Lerma❤️ 

 

I went downstairs to get some coffee for me on the way upstairs to the pool deck. 

I arrived 30.seconds before the beyond the podium guests arrived😅 

 

They were armed and ready to fight them🤣🤣🤣

One officer was ready marking cups and collecting cards and then they were making coffee in full speed😅 

 

It works well to keep control of the line🤓

I did also see a very friendly face of walking service (yes I have looked for her🥰 in Al Bacio) Maria our very friendly face from last year is onboard🙂 She was very busy as everyone serving tables. So I didn’t approach her to say hello 👋🏻. 

I told the Queen when I arrived upstairs🥰

She was SO happy! 

 

The sun had arrived outside😎😎 the temperature in the sun is much better than cloudy and windy😝

Pool deck sorbet 🍧 is out & about….

 I took one for the team tonight and ordered two scoops of vanilla in Luminae.  It tasted just fine.  I added a couple of tablespoons of Bailey’s and it still tasted just fine.  I then added a couple of tablespoons of black coffee and it tasted even better. (Pictures in my live review).  Hopefully any issues on Solstice are fixed by the time we sail on her next April.  

 

@Norwaylady I do hope your ice cream situation improves.  Nothing can spoil and evening like bad ice cream before bed.  

 

 Please keep those wonderful stories and pictures coming.  I can tell you really enjoy spending time with your mother and her with you.

The captain’s senior officer party was at 17.15. 

The ladies attended👍🏻

It was live 🎵 music. Canapés, drinks etc. 

 

 

captain Ioannis was talkative 🗣️ and very on stage. 

He presented the senior officer team. 

 

 

So a very well done performance by him and crew. 

They do take their time to be present and they seem comfortable with the situation.

After the captain’s club meeting the Queen wanted some coffee to wake up😝

We had a double espresso in Al Bacio and went to the show. 

 

Tonight’s show was Broadway cabaret from the vocal cast. 

It’s their last show before they leave for holiday. 

 

 

 

 

 

It’s a potpourri of broadway and movie music. 

Very well performed🎶🎶

 

After the show it was officers meet & greeting in Grand Foyer.

Mr is sending me pictures and updates from he’s miserable life home🤣🤣🤣

He is doing the empty freezer shows for dinner😅😆 (he should be happy I made lots of food earlier and freeze away) 

He has different soups to choose from and an assortment of Indian curry. 

 

But the hardest part is the cats 🐈‍⬛ 🐈‍⬛

They miss me❤️

 

They are both voluntary staying on Mr laps and sleep closely together…. 

Mr say he can’t go to 🚽 alone🤣🤣❤️

Dinner….

 

I was still fully loaded of food since lunchtime. I had some warm food and cheese 🧀…. So a dinner in my mind😆

 

Today’s menu:

 

Really nothing special…. What I notice is that they are repetitive🤔 

 

I went for salad. Non of the mains are appealing to me. 

 

The Queen had salad, shrimp cocktail and she ordered fish fingers from the children menu accompanied by broccoli 🥦. 

 

 

 

Dessert menu:

 

We didn’t try ice cream tonight…. We decided they needed to “eat down” the stock before we try it again🫣🤭

So the Queen went for the Pernod cake and I tried the biscuit cake. 

 

 

The Queen said the Pernod cake was good. 

The biscuit cake was really powerful. Dark chocolate and cream. So really delicious but should be half the size for serving😅 

 

We can’t get over the fact that they have silence disco 🪩 in the martini bar tonight and not a Eurovision party….

My friend is on Anthem and Royal Caribbean is a main sponsor for Eurovision this year… 

So on Anthem the party started before dinner….. 

 

So we went to the stateroom for a “private” party 🥳 

 

Ding-dong what is that tower on our coffee table😅

It was a delivery from the chef🥰

Really a surprise 🍓🍓🍓🍓

I'm actually surprised there is not more for Eurovision when it's so popular. I get its an American ship but its sailing in Europe with a lot of Europeans, just like with my cruise I had to have Superbowl because it was popular and we were in the US (not popular with me I did everything to avoid it like the plague 🙃).

Eurovision has been reported with some controversies,  so maybe not pushing it on the ship. It is on ship's  TV .  In US it's on Peacock a paid  streaming service.

I must mention that, on tonight’s dinner menu, where neither you nor the Queen were tempted by any of the mains, in my house, Mr B and I found almost every main appealing! Different strokes for different folks, for sure.

So for my American followers…. 
Eurovision is big in Europe. 
 

if we hadn’t had Eurovision…. There might not be ABBA😅

It’s always some controversy in one way or another though out the years connected to this event. 
Russia is banned to participate for the moment. 
 

I do understand that for Americans it’s not something you know about. 
But since we are in Europe, it’s a bit strange not to at least have something. 
 

Like today it’s US Mother’s Day. 

Happy Mother’s Day to my American friends🌺

It’s Sales gig connecting to this in the cruise compass and on the front page a big Congratulations! 
 

For the other guests, it’s not. 
In U.K it’s 30 of march and in Norway it’s 11 of February. 
 

it’s hard to catering for everyone. 
I’m happy Switzerland 🇨🇭 won 🏆 

Norway 🇳🇴 ended last🤣🤣🥳🎶🤭 (we are famous for most last places)

It’s not a bad menu for Mr😁😋

 

Im just not a big pasta eater, I’m not a fan of pork (rheumatism and some foods are not always a good combo… pork is something that really puts fire 🔥 to me and how active it is) 

The fish is okay but boring😆

 

So when I’m full from lunchtime…. It’s really not a winner set for me😂😂

Today is nothing planned. 

The Queen has nothing planned or wishes… 

I tried to get her out and about to Ephesus…

Not tempting😜 ( I really tried) 

She’s in a track of I’m not onto big touring or activity🤔😶‍🌫️

 

My biggest concern is that she will pass away, way to early as my grandparents (her parents)🙄 

The king will be old (the entire family is 100+ before they die😅) 

 

We started late…. Breakfast at 09.45. 

Buffet was empty😂😂

 

Today was poached egg 🥚😋 for me🥰

 

The Queen had her things😊

The Queen’s back is not so functional today… So her speed is the deal of the day😅

 

 

It’s a good opportunity to have some frolex, Nike, YSL in fake😂😂 

So you can wear Gucci, Prada & Hugo Boss on budget😆

The shopping area/city is Turkish 🇹🇷 salesman😜

So be prepared for a long line of sales along your route. 

 

 

 

 

After 3 hours of sales and a walk to the fortress, the Queen was ready to go back onboard.
