No More $25 Casino Credit

DW brought her $25 funplay chip home from her last cruise as a souvenir - I guess it's a collector's item now.

Not necessarily, I believe they use them for casino deals also. So it may still have gambling value.

Got $25 cash last night on Carnival Legend. Put it in my pocket.

Done the same thing.  When we get the credit I go and play it and 10 minutes later I exit as quick as I came in.

It makes sense to dump the $25 credit. Carnival already wrecked the loyalty program by awarding sail days to cruisers on basically free cruises. More and more of the $25 casino credits were going to people already cruising for free and likely already had fun play. How many dips in the well do people want?

I’ll finally turn platinum this year. Sounds like it is dwindling down to a big fat raspberry.
Whatever, we’ve spent many, many thousands of dollars with Carnival in the past 14 years, we usually sail in Suites, drink, gamble, etc…  The message is pretty clear, they really don’t care if they have loyal passengers or not.  If they did they would show it, but umm…nada so much.
Business is booming, yay!  Seriously!  Their “loyalty” program is a crock of bull dung. Period.

The cruise lines want more new cruisers, because new cruisers don't know what cruising used to be like with actual service and food that was better than Denny's.

I won't jump to conclusions. I'll wait it out until the Fall; wait and see what the New Loyalty program will offer. For me, none of this makes or breaks my cruise. I will say John said on FB that it was 100% a Casino only decision to remove the $25 and it wasn't widely communicated within the company. Some people are saying the Brunch drink has always been on the last seaday but I'm pretty sure I've gotten it before at earlier brunch but also no biggie for me. Truthfully I think the only thing I care about is Priority Embark/Debark and shuttles. Maybe the separate line for Guest Services as a close second.

No, it was never the last sea day brunch until recently. I don't know exactly when it changed.

I'm curious if those that booked while the $25 free play was still advertised as a perk, if they will still receive the benefit.

No, the VIFP program is entirely separate from your cruise ticket and they could do away with the VIFP program tomorrow in its entirety and you would have no recourse.

There's far too many Platinum and Diamond members. Makes sense. Can't be very economical to just be throwing out money like that when half or more of people sailing qualify for it.

Not many cruises have half or more of the guests P&D.

I think I saw you could go to MDR & order your drink. Just get your drink.  Does anyone know if this is correct? Sometimes we go to brunch too early for a glass of wine or cocktail.

Yes you can. And you do not have to buy alcohol with the P&D free drink. I often just order a Diet Pepsi. My wife gets a mimosa but like you said I don't want alcohol in the AM.

We sailed on the pride on April 28th, we inquired about the $25 casino play and the staff said it was not a benefit.  I show them the VIFP benefit listing on CCL's website, they honor the website listing.  They gave me their copy of benefit listing with the $25 removed.   I should pull the document out and review it to see if there are other changes.

For the tournaments it was buy one get one free so did make some money vs just giving away $25 in free play with no guarantee of them spending more.  There’s plenty of time during the day to operate the tournaments that wouldn’t take away from regular gambling going on.

It was originally a free tournament entry, then changed to BOGO for an entry before tournaments were cut due to COVID.

I'm certain it used to be any day at brunch.

Even the separate line at Guest Services has almost become a farce.  On my last few cruises the line was quite long, due to Faster to the Fun and Suite people on it.  In fact, the "regular" line often moved faster as there were more available stations to help them, while the separate line had one person.
