Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.

A hot day here.

Interesting days to celebrate.

The quote is hogwash.

Enough with the carrot hot dogs.  No thanks.   I'll try the drink and the wine.

We loved our visit to Ephesus, I'd like to go back.

Prayers for so many.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a good day.  Stay cool.

Thank you Rich, Vanessa, EVA, Ann, and Dixie for the FR&D   I like all 3 of today’s days.   Special prayers for Ann, Pat, Terri, Jim,  Melissa, Chuck, Annie and Tana with  Annie and Chuck at the top of the list.

I don’t agree with today’s quote.

I have not been to Kusadasi.

Sadly, the Kellogg-Briand Pact did not last long.

Carrot dog?.  My alternative is Lebanese Lamb Shank and Baked Alaska as served on MS Veendam August 23, 2014.
.

PFT and pulmonologist this morning., followed by my weekly visit to one of my more distant grocery stores but back home much later than normal..

Roy

Good luck with your appointment's today Roy.

On our tour, and most tours there, you will stop at leather outlets and Turkish rug factories where they will try to sell you their products.  A few people did buy a rug but not many.

When I was there, we booked a customized tour that was not supposed to include any rug factories, but the guide still tried to take us to one. By that time we were too hot and tired to do anything more. The purpose of the customization was to include the terrace houses during a relatively short port call.

Good morning. It is already warm and getting humid here. Today it will be in the high eighties.

Thank you Sandi @StLouisCruisers, for the port pictures as well as the lovely baby and big sister pictures. That will be a very busy family!

I will pass on the carrot hot dog and can only imagine the reception that dish would get here. Today I am making salmon with a mustard sauce and rice.
We continue with our private cinema day here and will watch the third Godfather movie this afternoon. It is not our favorite but we must complete the set! Feistiness was noted earlier this morning with the early goodbyes to the teenager. Tana is always worried about concussions and constantly grills the young man about practice for football. Of course, he feels he is invincible. I guess we all did at that age. Practice started at seven this morning  due to the heat.

I extend my condolences to @ger_77 and @LadyHudson  on the loss of their close friends.

@cunnorl, I am glad that you are ok after your fall.

@grapau27, I love your sea watching pictures!

Take care all

Good morning from a soon to be sunny day in central Texas.  It is a cool (for us) 71F and actually feels like 71F.  However, the humidity is 90% because the dew point is 68F, but that will improve as the day warms up to a predicted high of 92F.  Yesterday afternoon, the clouds moved in and it cooled off quite a bit, but there was no rain.  I need to make a trip to the grocery store this morning, and while I'm there, I plan to ask the pharmacy when they expect to receive the updated Covid vaccine.  Otherwise it will be a quiet day here like most days.

Three interesting days today, and I can't remember the last time we went to the cinema, but it was before Covid.  Petroleum is important to the economy of Texas.  It's a shame that so many women in the 1800s had to write under an assumed name.

I disagree with the S. F. Skinner quote so much that I almost forgot to mention it.

A definite no to the carrot hot dogs.  I'm not sure our vegetarian family members would like them.  We'll also pass on the meal and the drink.

We have been to Kusadasi three times, twice on Prinsendam and twice on Veendam.  We visited Ephesus on two of the stops.

The Kellogg-Briand Pact of 1928 was a good idea that sadly did not last.

@summer slope  Dixie, I hope the second cataract surgery is as easy and successful and the first one.

@grapau27  Graham, thank you for telling us about the Duchess who wasn't.

@cunnorl  Charlene, I'm sorry you are still sore and bruised.  I hope the soreness goes away soon.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, thank you for the pictures of the twins, their mom and their big sister.

@smitty34877  Terry, it was good to read that Tana was feisty this morning.

We have been to Kusadasi and Ephesus three times on BHBs.  Two maybe three visits on the Prinsendam in 2016 were canceled along with the Black Sea cruise after the coup attempt in Turkey.  On our three visits we have been to Mary's House once, and Ephesus twice.  The third time we just walked around Kusadasi.  After our tours to Ephesus we were dropped at the rug store, but politely skipped the demonstration.  We bought a small rug on the first time there.  It is hanging on the wall in the livingroom in Quartzsite.

I'm going to post my pictures from Mary's house and Ephesus here, and the ones from Kusadasi in another post.  We went in Mary's house, but were not allowed to take pictures.  I think it was because a priest was preparing to say Mass.

Kusadasi is an easy town to walk around unless you decide to climb up to the flag and statue of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk which a friend did.  We're not that adventurous.  While the vendors in the different stores and stalls wanted to sell us something, they were not as pushy as those in many places, especially if you took a minute to talk with them.  And many bargained, which is always good.

Grey, rainy, thunderstorm kind of day after a very hot and humid day yesterday. We were under a heat advisory. Hoping this rain will cool things off.

so many dailyites and friends needing prayers. Prayers being said

cleaning is on my agenda today. Our niece from Germany left on Sunday after spending two weeks with us and one week in Austin tx. She is an English teacher in Germany and has been coming to us for part of her summer vacation for 20 years. She is a joy and very helpful. On Thursday DH’s youngest sister and three other nieces are coming up from Virginia for an extended weekend. Should be lots of fun, too.

Hope everyone has a good day and happy travelling to those travelling!

ps- sorry about the carrot dog. It was on the list for today and couldn’t be helped.

Thank you from central Texas with rain...  finally !!!

I woke to a cooler morning for the dog and me!!

And my walk was pleasant!!  I went to the ortho Doc yesterday and got a cortisone shot for my hip...  finding out it wasn't my hip at all, It wasn't arthritis, like I thought, and I worried I'd need a hip replacement soon...  BUT Trochanteric Bursitis!!  I've never been diagnosed until yesterday and never had a cortisone shot, either.  I walked out without using my cane and felt great!!!

I won't be going to a movie today -- but enjoy them...

I got gas yesterday for $2.55 a gallon at Costco...

And NOW, thank you @grapau27, for the Dutchess explanation!!!  I know about that!

I had to study Skinner, amongst others, to get my BS in Psychology -- but...  that's not quite my understanding of life...  I'll agree, to disagree...  I do agree with behavior psychology -- but...

No thank you to the Carrot Dogs...  I'll stick with MEAT!!!

The Sangria sounds like a fun alternative recipe!!  @summer slope  Thank you!!!

The wine...  good @cat shepard Thank you for trying and getting something for us!

and someday I hope to see Ephesus/Kusadasi in person!!!  Thank you for the photos, for now!!!

Have a wonderful day and Hugs to each of you!!!

Ok, not fair! We had carrot Chicago dogs the other day. Will this become like the butternut squash showing up everywhere? I don’t like these recipes any better than the Chicago style but I could see making them if I had friends or family members who were vegetarian.

A bit of a rant, if I may. This is not really directed at @superoma, just that she happened to make a comment today that is often repeated.

It is not easy to come up with 365 different meals (or a least something edible) to feature each day. Despite searching for seasonal meals, comments get made that a salad that might be featured during the winter is a better summer meal, or that a soup is a better winter meal. In addition, meals having a common ingredient (butternut squash, carrot dog) getting featured close to each other. When the list was first created (last November) it was provided to Debi so another set of eyes could view it and suggest changes. The same goes with the wine list and ports.

Anyone is welcome to take over creation of the meal list and create one for next year

Can't blame you for the rant.  It isn't easy doing all this work, as Jacqui @kazu recently mentioned.  Anybody have any ideas for meal suggestions?  I know at my house we fix our favorite recipes over and over, and I think that's how most of us do it.  Thanks to Rich and all those who work hard to keep us all entertained and informed here on the Daily!

Good morning everyone.  It’s a nice morning here with temperatures in the low 60’s.  Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists.

Three nice days to recognize.  The quote may be true in certain instances but to never make a decision about your life, I’m not buying it.  There’s got to be more to the quote or excerpt.

No to the meal suggestion.  I might give the sangria a whirl though.

We visited today’s port on 10/3/23.  The ruins are stunning.  To think that St. Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians was read there made the city come to life.

Prayers for those on our prayer list today.  Cheers to those who are celebrating happy events!

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  Haven't been to the cinema in ages, maybe it's time to find a good movie and go again.  Thank goodness for petroleum, and I hadn't heard of the Duchess who wasn't.  We've been privileged to have been to Kusadasi twice over the past cruises in 2006 and 2009.

It's another cool morning out there for us today, with a starting temp of 7(44) and a brisk wind.  I think we're only going up to around 20 today, so it's starting to feel like the end of summer.  I'm not quite prepared to say the "f" word just yet, as I'd like summer to last a while longer.

Yesterday I did something I've never done before - bought DH and I each our own duvets.  Lately because it's been so warm at night, we've been moving the blanket to the middle of the bed between us.  Well, I've been accused of being a blanket hog in the middle of the night . . . LOL  After a few mornings of grumpy complaints from DH about not getting his share of the blankets, I went out and bought 2 twin duvets and covers and we now have our own that we can toss off or cover with as we choose.  I know it's common in Europe and Asia to have individual duvets, so I might as well bring the tradition here.

@summer slopegood luck with your 2nd cataract surgery today!

@Seasick Sailordefinitely increasing the prayers for Bonnie.

@Lady HudsonI'm saddened to hear of the loss of your friend who we'd been praying for.

@StLouisCruisersthanks for sharing the pics of the twins and big sister; they're all so sweet!

@Cruzin Terrigood luck with your medicals at the Mayo Clinic today.

@StpatsirishBHB is short for Blue Hulled Beauty, an abbreviation for all the Dam ships.

@richwmnyou're doing a heck of a job, spending so much time gathering information for all of us here on the Daily.  If there's something that doesn't appeal to us, we can just scroll on by - thank you for all you do for us and for bringing us together and giving us a place to come when times were tough.  You deserve a medal!

I'm writing down the drink suggestion - not that it can be made on a BHB, but it sounds like a great summertime sangria at home.  I'll pass on the white wine, and will take a pass on the carrot dog - I do know some friends who are vegan and would likely love it.  When our guests came over for dinner on Saturday they brought some wonderful sausage that will be turned into a small charcuterie board that DH and I can enjoy for dinner on the deck this evening.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, and even for those who don't think they are.  Cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!   ☺️☺️☺️

Moscato Watermelon Sangria cocktail:

There's nothing more refreshing than Olive Garden's delicious Watermelon Moscato Sangria, so make sure you have a drink prepared for summer or when you want something light and refreshing to drink. Best of all with only 3 ingredients this is one of the easiest drinks to make for a party.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup strawberries
1 bottle (750 mls) moscato
6 oz. watermelon syrup
6 oz. ginger ale
1 orange
Directions:
Pour Moscato, ginger ale, and watermelon syrup into a pitcher and stir gently.
Add ice to the pitcher and stir.
Cut fruits into small pieces and add them to the pitcher.

Some of my most treasured souvenirs are from my trip to Ephesus.  The beautiful embroidered cotton tops and silk and woolen scarves that I bought just as we walked out of the Ephesus site are still in perfect condition. And I bought a serving dish and glow in the dark bowl at the place our guide took us instead of the rug/leather stop. I thought I was nuts to buy some of these things, but I still wear/use them almost 9 years later. So perhaps not quite as nuts as I thought. 😎

Sounds like you made some wise choices as souvenirs from Ephesus.  I'm glad you still use them and appreciate them.

Thanks Terry.  I will see Grandma Lisa at my granddaughter's wedding and at the hotel we're all staying at in a few weeks.  I'll probably see every photo ever taken of those little ones.  DD told me she's planning on advising Lisa that those kids not being given a phone to keep them entertained like so many these days.  Instead, read to them daily.  She's seeing the results at her school of students who can't read in 4th grade.

Thanks for the Fleet Update and General Info from all contributors!

Petroleum Day! Great day for many but not for some! Just let the folks who are against Petro products know that  there will be no more cell phones since most of the phones are made from petro products. Let’s see how they like that! (Please don’t delete me for being a little political or just one who believes in reality)
