Casino question

We were recently on a cruise and one in our party needed to get $40 from their folio which was nonrefundable OBC.  It was the last day of the cruise, a sea day.  I told them how I have read of going to the casino.  It was pretty empty in there.  We went to the first slot machine we saw and they deposited the $40.  We had trouble trying to figure out how to use the slot and saw where it said you could cash out.  Unfortunately nothing was played.  When we went to the cashier they said they would give them the $40 but because nothing was played they were now locked out and banned.  The question not asked was is this person banned for life or just that cruise?

Thanks.

When you charge casino play to your on board account you are required to play some, win or lose. You may win and  cash out more than the charged amount or lose and cash out with less.

You are not barred for life, just until you disembark, or until you speak with the casino manager. You can insert cash and keep playing.

It's the first step to eliminating it completely.  P already has some needed language in the OBC terms - just will start enforcing it as ships sail 100% plus capacity and doesn't care if some cruisers - never gonna cruise P again.  almost a rick roll

Thanks.  She picked a slot machine she didn't understand how to use.  If the need arises on her next cruise she will know what to do (and pick a slot that looks easier to understand).

Interesting - there always seems to be a casino host/hostess/other around to help ...

but thanks for sharing and the repercussions that can/will be coming

Can you answer a basic question for a newbie casino user. Do you use your medallion for the casino? Just rock up, choose a machine and follow instructions on the machine? Are there instructions on the machines?

That is exactly what she did.  Nobody was around.  It was a sea day and last day of the cruise.  No one to ask although we didn't spend much time there.  Three people not sure what to do and there was something to press that said "cash out". 😞

That would be me too! 🤣
That’s why I’ve asked here for instructions. Otherwise I’ll walk on by.

I appreciate you asking this.  I would like to know too!  I've always avoided the casino because I have no idea what to do.  Do they ever offer any intro sessions on how to use the casino?  Are there staff around who won't be annoyed if I ask for help?

Thanks.

I'll give you a hint - it's usually the flashing button labeled Play.

There's also attendants in the casino to help. Sounds like they saw the cash out button, which was their intention (not to gamble).

Roulette or 21 is also easy to play a few rounds.

I find the easiest game at the casino is Blackjack.  All the cards have their number value, aces are one or eleven (your choice) and pictures, ten.  You just have to get up to 21 without going over and get closer to 21 than the dealer.  Watch a few games and then only risk up to $30 two nights and see how long it lasts or can you build up a cache of chips. Everybody is against the dealer and you are not playing against the other passengers.

Slot machines are very complicated have numerous designs and it takes a while to learn each one.

Regards John

If I remember - might have missed a part

- swipe your medallion at any slot machine

- put in your birthday - month and year

- put in a password

- repeat your password

- if you want to transfer from cabin account to casino account

- how much $ to transfer

- PLAY - they will lock you out if you don’t play

- when you are finished REMEMBER to cash out

- transfer $ to casino account

- cash out

- go to Cashier

- tell Cashier, you want to cash out

- swipe your medallion

- log in with password

- Cashier with ask if you want the whole amount

- Cashier will count out your money

- you sign a paper

- you received xx amount

Can also put cash into the slot machines.

If you have forgotten to cash out your casino account, they will send you a cheque.

Any refundable OBC under $25 leftover, you can get from Guest Services on last day.

@phabric

thank you that’s exactly what I wanted to know.

I didn’t know you could use cash!

why/when would I want a “casino account”?

If you play at the casino, it is a separate account just for the casino.  You need a casino account to get your money from the Cashier.

On the slot machines, a there a slot to insert $ bills.

If people transfer their OBC from their ship account to a casino account then cash out right away, Princess doesn’t want the casino to be treated as a cash ATM machine, alway play a little.

You can play cash but only cash out to your casino account which you must set up

There is no set up. It's already set up. If you play with cash, you scan medallion, put in cash, play, then cash out to the casino account.

Maybe that's what you meant, but the way you worded it sounds like you have to go someplace to set up the account, which you do not.
