celebrity cruiser Posted September 10 #1 Share Posted September 10 We will be on Ascent in Nov. It is also the first time on Edge class. Do they still do free tours on embarkation day? They used to do that on the other classes but we haven't attended in many years. Just thought a guided tour with a crewmember would be a nice way to get to know the new class for us. Thanks

Did not even get a tour from our Butler when we sailed on Edge as our one and only E-class sailing. Then again we never say our butler outside the lounge during afternoon snacks after the first day. Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted September 10 #3 Share Posted September 10 Never heard of this either. Have you looked on YouTube?
celebrity cruiser Posted September 10 Author #4 Share Posted September 10 Perhaps they don’t do it anymore then. At one time on embarkation day around one or two in the afternoon crewmember would take a group of passengers around the ship level to level and show them the highlights and basically where everything was located on the ship. I hadn’t been paying attention to it because we were so familiar with the S & M class but perhaps they eliminated that after Covid also. I can look on YouTube or in the app which shows deck plans. Thanks for the quick responses

When did this take place? I have never seen this on any of the Celebrity ships we have been on in the last 10 years or so. celebrity cruiser Posted September 10 Author #7 Share Posted September 10 Hadn’t paid attention in the recent past. I remember it last about 10 or so years ago. And would see groups being escorted around that first afternoon. found some good YouTube’s

I know they offer several "behind the scenes" type tours for a fee, but I am not familiar with the free orientation ones to which you originally referred. Before my Celebrity time I guess. No fee listed but it's not behind the scenes one I think it was more, this is Eden, this is the buffet, pool area etc. At least that is how I read it

However, I would suggest you ask your cabin attendant to give you a "tour" of your cabin features. I did not know what I did not know: On my first, and maybe only, E-class cruise, it took me a few days to locate the hair dryer and a few more days to discover the little black button to turn off the bright mirror light in the main cabin. At the end of the cruise, I was still not confident in using the electronic HVAC control panel. In retrospect, I should have asked the attendant for a cabin orientation.
Chanbre Posted September 10 #12 Share Posted September 10 Celebrity Apex. The daily for boarding day has a 2pm "New to Celebrity ship tour", meeting in "The Club". We did not bother. We did a similarly titled tour on a non-Celebrity ship. It was just a quick walk around the ship to point out a few places. I think they included: the buffet, the main dining room, the theatre and the spa. Plus, a mention of anything we passed on the way. The whole tour was about 30 minutes.

You can go on your own to see the facilities. One of the spa staff will take you around with the accompanying sales pitch. But the last time we did this (June) they were actually very low key and it was informative. So I guess I have to eat my words a little....LOL Edited September 10 by leaveitallbehind
Chanbre Posted September 11 #19 Share Posted September 11 As our July cruise on Apex was out first E class cruise, we did the spa tour on the first day. Clearly it was a sales event, but no pushy selling. It was more about showing us the facilities and letting a few of the specialist spa people explain their offerings. The most pushy part was from the barber wanting to give me the closest shave possible and leave my face softer and smoother than my wife had ever known. We left with a price list and a couple of information pages. Later in the cruise my wife had some spa treatment. I forwent the shave.
