Vaping inside cabins?

There’s really no way to know anyone is vaping in their cabin. Unlike cigarettes which have a very strong odour and noticeable smoke, vapes can smell like anything from cotton candy to pineapple so neighbours would likely not even notice if someone was vaping just next door.

I’m pretty astonished to learn of this exception to the smoking policy.
And pretty disappointed.
I’d hate to be the next guest to enjoy that cabin.

Vapers say there is nothing harmful to people or furniture.  But they refuse to tell me that the exhaust is only CO2.  Some studies say it leaves a nicotine residue which can be toxic to kids.  I’d be ok if it was just outside.

I can smell unflavored vape exhaust.  It has a smell.  Are you claiming it’s only CO2?  And if I smell cotton candy what do you think I’ll do?

I looked at HAL's PC and it says the same thing. Celebrity and Carnival PC still say vaping is prohibited in cabins. Couldn't anything in RCCL PC about smoking at all and couldn't find a PC for NCL.

I sent my Princess PCC an email saying although it's too late to do anything now, my December cruise will be the last I take with them unless the policy is changed.

Did you see the post about the TV?

If they did change their policy they are doing their best to try to hide it.  This is probably so people will not cancel their cruises on Princess.  I would if I was planning a Princess cruise.

Do you think Princess will change their policy again because of your email? No doubt lots of research went into this rule change.

I don't vape but my grandsons did in the "living room" of our mini suite earlier this month. I would not have known it even happened if I hadn't witnessed it. I am sensitive to cigarette smoke, but vaping doesn't bother me. The boys left the balcony door ajar when they vaped.

Someone threatens to quit Princess daily on CC. It really gets tiresome. 🙉

DON

Why would you cancel?

So you could book a cruise on a line with a policy excluding vaping in cabins?

Given that it is undetectable, do you really think that people don't vape in their cabin on cruise lines where that is contrary to policy?

The passage contract is dated July 2024. The website is outdated.

DON

Clearly written on the passage contract which each guest agrees to prior to sailing.

@CruisingFox27 how do you navigate to ‘Smoking section’ of TV.  When I go trough:

Guest Services

Today’s Reminders

Stateroom Safety

it states “Please be reminded that smoking in your stateroom or stateroom balcony is strictly prohibited”

Could not see any specific mention of vaping etc, but I am sure as above from Crawford that definition is as above.

maybe you have come across another page on TV that is contradictory to the above section.

Could I ask, is your passenger contract related to departure from the UK, EU, US, Asia or other areas?

Just wondering if it varies?

I'd guess because the vape odor/exhalations/"smoke"/whatever it is, could drift over to the neighboring balcony.

Bull corn.  Vaping has a definite odor.  Some are more sensitive than others.  If the vape was only CO2 why is it regulated?

This is for a round trip cruise from Sydney Australia going in about 6 weeks. Contract was only accepted about a month ago

contract 1.PNG

contract 2.PNG

There you go.  It is passenger contract specified.  From Australia, it is NOT allowed in the cabin.

I’ll have to look at my other contracts.  The US contracts are different, as they do allow in cabin e-cigarette’s.

We have 2 website references that say NO.

To/From Australia contract says NO.
US passenger contracts that say YES.

Anyone have a UK, Asia, NZ contract?

I always find that smokers tend to conjugate in the outdoor areas  around the pool.  Cant smoke on balconies or in cabins.  The ventilation system in the casino is pretty good.  It's not like the old stinky smoke filled casino of decades ago.  I think smoking is a non-issue on Princess.  I find they are pretty considerate to the surroundings.  Now...MSC is a different story.  Those Europeans LOVE to smoke.

Conjugate??  Did they have an upside down pineapple outside the area?  😳😂😂

Yes.  It’s great that @julie3fan isn’t bothered.  But some of us do and can notice the smell.  Flavored or not.  And I’ve found no document for or against that says it leaves ZERO residue on surfaces.  Is this another person trying to tell me it just puts out CO2?

Disappointing.  I draw the line when someone’s addiction affects my health.
