  1. It will be in June, as soon as the school goes on holiday. So that means after 21 of June. Im very aware that the temperatur is flaming hot in august. And also the Germans Italians, Spanish goes on holiday. So an even bigger reason to stay away from August😝 For Mr and me the cruise to Alexandria and Jerusalem is very tempting. it's new ports of call for us. But on the other hand, if something is going bad in Israel. It's really not okey to be there.... Last summer a friend of ours had his children on Royal when hell broke loose, so when they arrived Israel and left the ship, the bomb alarm went off multiple times during their 48h stay before they had a flight back to Norway. It was very unpleasant and it was not okey for neither the children or our friend. So that is a big need to think twice destination. Its one thing to put us in that situasjon, its another thing to bring a youth. The cruise on Odyssey and X is very similar, both are Greek islands as the big thing. Royal starts in Rome and X in Athens. Flights are same price range to both destinations. Both cruises can bring us to beach days, there is an aqua park in Kusadasi we can visit during our stay or we kan do the tour to the ruins. So we can get waterslides one day if we want to speed things up. Royal has more bells and whistle. But we will share it by 3997 other guests🙄. X Infinity is older and due for a refurnish. But we really love Millennium class. Have sailed 3x on Connie, Milli just before the renovation and Summit once. They are old, but gold🥰 I will be on Infinity in late may, it's the mother/daughter trip of the year. Im leaning strongly to X. Im paying the bill at the end of the day.... And it is less money/more value for money on X as of know.
  2. Thank you @southernbreezes @Cruise a holic @Bo1953 Flights is not the biggest problem for us, since we live in Norway. it's a short way compared to the US. My biggest concern about Royal, Odyssey is that the ship has Solstice size but fits 4000 guest.... and it will be full saling since the holiday season in the nordics starts🤪 and we need to pay extras for bev-wifi. We have never done a suite on X. We always sail balcony, concierge and Aqua. On Royal have we sailed in JS and central park balcony. Voyager x2, symphony and Jewel. JS give nothing extra, just more space and extra points. We will do numbers what we need to add on Royal and see what we end up on.
  3. Lovely 🤩 Really miss Sydney The sail out and arrival in port is magic. You will have a great cruise!
  4. Hello We are considering bringing our nephew on a cruise in the Mediterranean 2024. He will be 16years old. He is having his confirmation ceremony this year and we would like to give him an adventure as a gift. He knows we go on cruises and we have been FaceTiming several times onboard when we are away. He lives in the north of Norway. So we only see him for holidays, Christmas and celebrations. He has never been on a cruise. Any tips or things we should consider? How has paperwork been and has this been a issue? I know we need a consent from his parent (his father is dead) , passport. He has the same last name as Mr Norwaylady. Price is approximately prices from Norway in USD for all of us 3, for the cruise. We have a timeframe for school holiday we must fit this to. So we have following cruises on the list: Athen X Infinity 7-Greek Island< Concierge 5000USD all-in Drinks, basic wifi and tips> Sky Suite 8500USD Athen RCL Voyager 7- Israel and Egypt JS 5000USD, must add beverage and wifi Rome RCL Odyssey 7- Greek Isle JS 7000USD, must add beverage and wifi All of the cruises are port intensive. He has never been to any of the destinations. We are Diamond and Elite. So we have some benefits.
  5. Looking forward to follow your adventure!
  6. We are closing in to Easter Holiday🐣 As posted in #243 We do have public holidays during Easter. attached is the link to Visit Oslo recommendation to do during Easter. https://www.visitoslo.com/en/whats-on/easter/ Its museums, guidet tours, sauna boats, children's activity and much more to choose from.
  7. Very sorry to hear about your charter issue. We had a similar experience on another cruise line. It was a poker cruise..... So 80% of the guests on the cruise was professional poker players.... This was a 7day sailing. The good thing is that the poker players dont party hard or drink off their socks. Due to this tournament, lots of the venues/lounges onboard was closed off to non participants. Since they had set up several poker tables for playing the tournament. So therefor lots of daytime activity's was reduced. It did really affect the vibe of the cruise and we were not notified before our sailing. So we were a bit surprised. But we survived and did the best of it🙃
  8. As you can see from my signature, we like X. The ships are decent size and it's not loaded by families. The service has been great, but we do notice a decline in the product since we first started to cruise on X. For us its Price and itinerary 40/60. We book balcony, no suites. We like to spend some money on tours pre and post cruise. For us the itinerary is important. We prefer longer cruises 14days or longer. b2b on new ports & onward journey is okey. So our b2b Alaska/Hawaii was perfect. We really miss the 14days ultimate Caribbean cruise. A b2b is not the same as a long cruise in the Caribbean. We are looking active on Oceania, Regent, Silversea and Azamara for routes we want to travel. We were cancelled by AZ twice to do charter before covid and now we just are waiting. Due to the fact that we loose all benefits, makes us no reason to not choose Oceania or Regent instead. Since we are from Norway our pricing is a little bit different then in the us. We can book all cruise lines, but deals are very limited on some cruise lines. So the price on some cruises on different brands are very expensive compared to what deal they offer in the us. This very often apply to Princess and HAL. We really wish that the 14 days New England/ Canada trip is coming back. And that they could keep the sailings from LA to Mexico. We had our plans made and different cruises moved due to covid. So it wasn't room for an extra cruise during the sailing period..... Royal is fine for us if the itinerary is what we want and it's on the smaller vessels. Not my first choice, but if the itinerary is what we want, we will book it. MSC is very European, so we are used to it. For the us market it's a very different product from what you are used to.... So expect different vibe, you are not in majority. And everything is catered for guests from Italy, Spain, Germany and France. We had a great time on MSC, we had balcony on MSC Lirica and MSC Musica. Just dont expect X or Royal service style. The product is made for europeans in those countrys. So if you keep an open mind and remember that this cruise line is catering for a different culture then us, you will be fine. On Hurtigruten, the view are a big part of your cruise. There are now big shows or entertainment onboard in the evenings. The food is all local food from Norway. Very good quality and good choices of fish, seafood, reindeer and other tasty things from Norway. So if you would like a cruise, view and entertainment. You need to book a Norwegian Cruise on a "real" cruise line. We enjoy their product and use them from time to time on port to port travel when we visit family in the north. We have also done a full sailing Bergen/Kirkenes/Bergen. Future cruises we have on our bucket list -New England and Canada -A full sailing thru Panamacanal -Galapagos -Pacific Islands *pago pago, Fiji etc -Amazonas -South American itineraries -River cruise in Asia
  9. Very happy to hear that you are relaxing and enjoying your cruise. Really hope you get a excellent dinner in Tuscan later in the week🥰 Mr Norwaylady can't hear of this tub in the balcony..... then we will be stuck in a suite the entire sailing😂 No need to go ashore or see a show.....
  10. As soon as you arrive in LAX (fingers crosses ON TIME), call the number in your ticket booklet. To the port agent in LAX. Notify them that you are on your way and tell them that what has happened. So they know you are late. AND can tell the ship, so they can decide what they want to accept.
  11. Bon Voyage⚓️ Looks like a great start🤩 Looking forward to the rest🥰
  12. We are very upset and not happy about this. We book concierge because the breakfast meny for delivery is wider. This change affects all future bookings that was made a long time before this change. We really enjoy having breakfast on our balcony😔 There is no reason to book concierge. We are always later than embarkation lunch onboard. So the BIG number one reason was breakfast menu. Hopefully they will change their mind to the better….🧐
  13. cheer’s 🥂 from Color Line Fantasy⚓️ Next stop Kiel 🇩🇪 44h in cruise heaven⚓️ We can survive😂🥰 warming up for Caribbean soon….. This is as close you can get a real cruise walking the gangway in Oslo🇳🇴
  14. @countess5 Love your adventure! My cruise fewer is burning🤩 So we booked a color line cruises Oslo-Kiel trip on Thursday to cool off😅
  15. Looks like your off to a brilliant start🤩 My cruise fewer is killing me...... (so we booked a color line cruises from Oslo-Kiel on Thursday😅)
  16. We are sailing on 6th.... We haven't received move-up yet. But again, we are from the nordic market and can't receive move-up mail/info about move up before 21-days before sailing...... So often they have already started to assign guests from the US market.....
  17. @steamboats Thank you for your report! Great to read and see the pictures of your adventure. Really a amazing trip. We are considering the same adventure....
  18. Yes🫠 it’s pricey. Just keep in mind that we follow offers to the Nordic market. So our campaign is not the same as to the us market…. So when you had your offer, we never have a similar deal. The small xploration is very good priced in Norway. It’s only 16-guests, so it’s different than Flora. At Hurtigruten we get the same pricing on a 50-pax vessel and it includes airfare in economy round trip Norway. But nothing is decided yet😅
  19. 🤩🤩 @Ken the cruiser your going to Galápagos??? Looking forward to that❤️ We are looking into 2025…. So I’m really trying to figure out what ship. X or Hurtigruten….
  20. Love your live🤩 Great to follow along:) Believe me, Mr Norwaylady love this type of climate and type of adventure! So when the correct itinerary is back, we will jump onboard⚓️
  21. Hello Do you have a feed back of your cruise?
  22. Thank you for taking us along your travel🤩🥳😍👏🏻 it’s been a pleasure and I’m looking forward for eclipse in April😁👍🏻 Something live-ish will arrive in March…..😉
  23. So sorry for not answering you.... I had answered, but hadn't posted🥴 Concert Ticketmaster in Norway has a reselling ticket option. https://www.ticketmaster.no/feature/resale/?int_cmp_name=Ticketmaster-Resale&int_cmp_id=NO-Home-907&int_cmp_creative=Home-featured-3&language=en-us If someone wants to sell their tickets, they can sell them official and guaranteed its real tickets. Normally they have some more tickets for sale a few days in advance or the same day online in the morning. They always keep some tickets for companies etc.... When they decline, they put it for sale to the public. Fjords of Norway You will be in Oslo, so you have Oslofjorden. But it can't beat the fjords in western Norway...... It's really something special. I recommend if you have time to do Norway-in-a-nutshell tour. Just google and you will find a good company that has this trip as a package. You can take the train both ways or fly back to Oslo. Oslo-Bergen by air is only 50.min Hope this helps you in your planning!
