  1. Just make a dummy reservation and then when the itinerary you want comes out, move it?
  2. Ooh!! The Frog and Onion looks like the perfect place for a birthday lunch in July!!!! Horseshoe Bay in the morning followed by lunch at Frog and Onion!! (Is it dressy or casual? Most pubs I know are casual, but...?)
  3. I've never had to "transfer the reservation" to my TA. Since she's who I booked the cruise I'm on through it is automatically assigned to her. I thought you had to sign a paper to NOT have it go to the TA. Why are so many having to transfer it to their TA after the fact?
  4. My mom and dad did it on Disney and m mom loved it as much as my dad. Our family doesn't believe in the term "bucket list", so I don't know if it was a travel goal, but they both loved it.
  5. I think this is the biggest consideration. If you're trying to take a vacation without taking vacation, I would never depend on shipboard internet on any line. Because while it might work perfectly for some, what happens if you're the exception to the rule. Would they buy that a land-based internet line went out, possibly for hours or a day or more or would you have to fess up to where you really are?
  6. It may depend on port for earliest time? I have 10:30-11am PAT for my upcoming Summit cruise out of NJ.
  7. I get taking away self-service on the sailing where the outbreak occurs. But why on the next cruise with new passengers?? They aren’t the ones who have it, and any crew that does should be on medical quarantine. (And FWIW it is not exclusive to cruises. It went through the school where I teach like wildfire.)
  8. I hope you still have the option to put it on the cruise you are booking. I’m going into my upcoming cruise paid and packaged up so I have no need of more OBC on it. On the Edge in Feb 2020 it went to the cruise I was booking.
  9. Only Concierge is non-refundable ever. (And *GT but this far out that's not an issue.) All other cabin types are fully refundable up to the date of Final Payment Due.
  10. Thanks for doing this! I'm on the Summit in Aqua in 41 days!! I have an aft-facing cabin and am super excited!!
  11. Yeah, there are definitely people who monitor these and other forums for the lines. My sister works on another line and last week she WhatsApp-ed me saying she thought she found me on another board. Someone had sent them a post on that board and I'd commented and based on my user name and picture there she was pretty sure, then I said "shippernet" (the term we use for shipboard internet) and that clinched it. I know they were using things in that post along with their comment cards as things to look at improving.
  12. Bravo! I agree with everything you've said here! My biggest pet peeve with reviews are when people feel the need to put "HONEST Review of [insert ship/dining experience/excursion here]" on their reviews. It reads to me as if they're implying theirs is the only honest one and anyone who had a different experience must be lying. Maybe I'm naive, but I read live trip reports and reviews with the assumption that the author is being honest to THEIR experience. Other people could have been on the same ship/dining experience/activity and had a totally different experience - but that doesn't make one "honest" and the other lies. It's all down to individual experience and perspective. They could better title it "My Experience On/At [insert ship/dining experience/excursion here]".
  13. The thing about weekend closures/reroutings is that they are generally not announced until the Wednesday or Thursday before the weekend the closures/reroutings are to happen. So it is hard to know before then if the train you need will even be running in the direction you need. And has been said, it is a good walk from the subway to the port - the C or E at 50th is on 8th Ave. It’s 4 long blocks and then either crossing a busy 4-lane road or hauling your stuff up a sky bridge to cross, then back down. Honestly I would save the hassle and use a taxi, Uber, or Lyft - or even a car service like Carmel or Dial7. Since you’re in Manhattan, the fare won’t be as ridiculous as it would if you were in another borough.
  14. NCL and "others" have to go past it since they dock up the Hudson in Manhattan. No way to get to the ocean without passing it.
  15. I thought from your post about Nemo's Reef that your daughter is 35? Or do you have 2? I agree with Shmoo though - there is no way to guarantee that a CHILD will be picked.
  16. If drinks with other liquors are going to be available, they can be ordered. Who decreed that "only" mimosas are appropriate breakfast drinks? There are places in the world where they have stuff I would never consider "breakfast foods" served at breakfast. (I've had non-"Western traditional" breakfast foods at breakfast and "Western traditional" breakfast foods at times other than breakfast (not on a cruise, but at home). I'm not justifying over-ordering things by any means. BUT if a bar is going to make other drinks whenever ordered, that's on Celebrity. Maybe the "not Mimosas" ARE those people's "breakfast" drinks.
  17. Totally doesn't matter. When I was on a cruise to Alaska and splurged on a balcony, almost invariably when they announced wildlife sightings it was on the other side - going north or going south.
  18. I wouldn't count on an inactive roll call meaning a not-full ship. The one for my upcoming cruise is not active at all and yet the sailing is sold out per Celebrity's website.
  19. OMG thank you!!!!! I've been debating between 2 cruises to book for next summer while onboard the Summit in July and seeing excursions totally helped me decide!!!!
