  1. My husband has never downloaded the app and it hasn’t been an issue. I do the muster video from my app and they just ask if we watched it. I have his sail pass in my app and I do all the reservations in my app.
  2. I agree with you. The food on Liberty recently was very good and I prefer my appetizers one at a time. I ordered two every night and since we had a table for 2 one at a time keeps the table less cluttered.
  3. I sailed Oasis last September for the 3rd time and definitely saw a downgrade in the WJ and Solarium Bistro at breakfast and lunch. Didn’t do the MDR and felt the specialty restaurants were mostly good except Giovanni seemed off. Izumi was probably the best IMO. Just got off Liberty and found the food to be very good in WJ and MDR for breakfast and dinner so I don’t think the food downgrades are fleet wide.
  4. Maybe it is regional because there are a lot of Italian restaurants in my area that serve a “Sunday gravy” special on their menus.
  5. Just got off a 5 night on Liberty and they had a “formal” night but no lobster in the MDR.
  6. Was always gravy on Sundays in our NY Italian family dinner.
  7. Just off Liberty today. We had early seating and ate in the MDR every night. The food was very good. Everything I ordered I liked. I was always able to find something on the menu that I liked and the one night nothing stood out I got the strip steak. The service was very good and we were out in less than an hour every night. I really was impressed with the food overall on the Liberty and was glad we didn’t spend extra on specialty dining.
  8. Since it’s your first cruise I would say book the one that’s least expensive. Both are great ships and the itineraries are both new to you so you should have a great time on either. Personally I’d pick the Western itinerary but would be happy to sail either.
  9. I sent an email 2 wks before our current sailing to request a more private table for 2. I didn’t receive any response but was given a great table I was very happy with.
  10. I’m on Liberty now in a JS on deck 9. It’s a great location. Makes using the stairs and avoiding the elevators very easy. 2 flights up to the gym, solarium, pool deck and Windjammer. Then 4-5 flights down to the promenade, theater, casino and the dining room.
  11. Update… I checked my account last night and was given my OBC back for my cancelled Sabor reservation. Thanks for all the replies.
  12. I did ask to see the manager because it didn’t seem right and he said the business people come in at 5 and will look into it and they’ll call me. Seems weird. I canceled day 2 for a day 4 reservation.
  13. Funny you say that because the thought did cross my mind but I hate to take it out on the crew.
  14. I bought dinner for 2 at Sabor with OBC I got from my points on the RC credit card before the cruise. On board I canceled the reservation. I never saw the credit on my account so I went to GS today to ask about it and was told that I wouldn’t be getting any credit back because I canceled the reservation. Is this correct? It just doesn’t seem right. I asked them to then reinstate my reservation and after a call to Sabor they said it couldn’t be done.
  15. Oasis class has a much better pool deck than Quantum class if you’re doing a warm weather cruise.
  16. These days it’s about as good as it gets not including a Black Friday sale. Pre pandemic it’s not a good price. In fact all the planner prices are ridiculous IMO especially the beverage packages, sale or no sale they’re usually about the same inflated price.
  17. Maybe we should all have pictures of our ID’s saved on our phones in case this happens to us? I’ve got 1000’s of photos of my dog that I’ll never really need on there so I think I’ll keep one of my DL and one of my passport just in case😊
  18. Found it. He ended up using a picture of an old expired drivers license he had.
  19. There was a thread about a year ago that was the exact same situation and the man was able to board with his family. I think he’s got a good chance. I never have luck searching this forum but maybe someone else can pull up the old thread?
  20. I came back to offer another suggestion. Solarium Bistro for dinner. It’s really a hidden gem on Oasis and it’s free. Sometimes it’s not available to book in advance but when you board you should be able to book it on the app. The food is delicious if you like Mediterranean cuisine. You choose from a small selection of entrees and order that through a waiter and then help yourself to a huge spread of antipasto, soups, salads and appetizers. It’s all fresh and delicious. I could’ve done without the entree and been just as satisfied with the appetizers. One other suggestion is Vintages. Their small plates are also fresh and delicious and very affordable. I always like to eat different foods on vacation than I eat at home so these two suggestions fit that bill.
  21. I’d do Playmakers for dinner because I like the atmosphere so much better than Portside. Playmakers is like going to a sports bar/restaurant on land. Usually a lot going on there. Portside seems like it’s always empty and has no atmosphere to me. Kind of feels like a cafeteria. I’d go there for lunch instead.
