  1. I wonder why Viking Ocean doesn't offer voucher discounts like they do on their river cruises? That is a pretty good deal and guarantees them repeat business. IMO much better than an OBC and costs them about the same.
  2. Just an EBD yesterday but a new River Cruise itinerary that combines Lyon & Provence with the Rhine Getaway.
  3. Didn’t you get the memo? The standard uniform for men is a polo shirt and khaki pants. 😉
  4. Exactly https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1982/02/have-you-ever-tried-to-sell-a-diamond/304575/
  5. We are booked on the Classic Greece pre cruise extension in Athens. Does anyone know what hotel is being used? The website and the invoice state the Athens Hilton but when you do a Google search it states that the hotel is closed until 2024 for major renovations. The property is being rebranded "Conrad" and partly converted into residences.
  6. If you read the offer under “Viking Inclusive Value” they are referring to cruises that offer free air. They also state it’s “a cruise fare that covers everything you need.” This is essentially true. No additional port taxes & fees, included tours, beer and wine with meals, ground transfers with air, wi-if, lectures, etc. It’s not a booze cruise.
  7. Dress for the ship you want not the ship you have. 😉
  8. lol Been doing that for years, especially when you have a "notice me" type talking loudly on the phone. Just interject comments and amuse yourself.
  9. May I ask how you are renting a car to LAX for $50? I need to do this for a cruise next year and have found nothing under $100.
  10. More than anything this goes to the heart of the matter. People either have no awareness of how their actions impact others or they simply don't care. It's all about self and ironically they have no self-awareness. I recently heard a discussion about how society has changed over the last two decades and how the pandemic has accelerated the trend. Everything around us caters to the individual and instantaneous gratification. Want music? You don't have to wade through a whole album to hear your favorite, you create you personal play list. Want to watch a TV show. You no longer have "appointment TV." Watch it anytime, anywhere. Hungry? No need to wait in line at you favorite restaurant. Call Grub Hub and whatever you want is at your door in minutes. Don't like what your child is being taught at school? Teach them at home with a curriculum you've curated. Don't agree with what you see and hear on the news? Only listen to what reinforces your belief system. All of this undermines the social contract.
  11. According to the customer Q&A, only one device can be used at a time. The “eight” probably means the number of devices it can remember pairing to but only one can be active.
  12. Pre and Post cruise extensions will not list anything for that day in MVJ. Excursions are "baked" into the extension and there is no need to reserve a time for them.
  13. A bunch of the current promotions expire on 10/31. There should be more posted in November. Follow the Post Viking Promos thread for the latest.
  14. Thanks. Follow up question. Do we have to handle our bags in MUC or are they checked through?
  15. We will be flying from LAX to Athens via Munich in January. Our layover is 80 minutes. Is this enough time?
  16. We live in San Diego and we always park at Aladdin. Easy access, indoor parking.
  17. I received the latest World Cruise large brochure in the mail on Oct 16. It's only for '23-'24. If they are still mailing it out it seems '25 might be a ways off.
  18. New Portugal dates for 2024 and EBD offer
  19. HDMI ports are not accessible. However I recall seeing a post about someone hacking the TV mount to access the ports.
  20. On our last 2 trips to London we stayed at the Rembrandt Hotel. It's located across the street from the V&A Museum and is two block from the South Kensington tube stop (The Piccadilly Line has direct access to Heathrow). It's right in the museum district, has great tube access, close to Harrods and Kensington Park, and there are many restaurants in the area.
  21. Thanks @bassethounddog. We just booked the Journey to Antiquities cruise. Got a DV1 at the V price, plus free air. It will our first trip to Greece. Hopefully the weather cooperates.
