  1. yes most of the europeen cruise ships, not owned by an american company, were in better conditions than the american ones. MSC has also old ships but never so rusty like the american ones from NCL, Carnival or also Cunard. I like the QM 2 but she is mostly in bad conditions, they fix the chimney with some bands before a TA or things like that in the past. Drunken elderly? We sailed al lot in the last years with MSC, Cunard, Princess, Carnival, HAL, Disney, Costa and on European rivers. And we never saw so mutch drunken elderlys in bars or the dinner restaurant or in corridors like this week. on more than 30 cruises we had one or two changes of ports but only for some hours.
  2. One Problem was the emergency generator and then also an other generator failed, for that we were 60 hours in Hilo.
  3. The Infos are from crew members there we speak not from the offical ships information canal, there are no infos about the generators until this morning from the captain! We won‘t book a next NCL Cruise so only 200 obc for us, thats nothing, 2% of the price. I think also your not happy on a cruise like this cruise. Its much easier to speak from far that is all ok and the Informations clear and promptly.
  4. There are two or more generators down not only one. And the US Coast Guard stopped the ship to sail with the broken generators. It will need a week or more to solve all generator problems. For the spirit pax its also a challange with the port change today.
  5. For 26 hours travel time this is a huge disappointement! We missed one port and lost one port day in Kauai. Hawaii is a once in lifetime holiday for us europeans! We are experienced cruisers, and had other cruises with itenary changes but much better acted and informed than this time, that is a fact.
  6. 20% future cruise credit for a changed and one missed port and 200 Dollar obc? We do not book an other cruise with NCL, so 200 Dollar refund for a 9000 Dollar cruise? They ruined our day yesterday with no clear information about the problem and departure time. So our car trip to Kona was too short, and when we returned to the ship there was clear that we do not sail until the evening…
  7. Yes it was big generator problem and the solved it now. So we will set sail at 8 am with a sea day to Kauai and some scenic cruising to Molokini, Molokai and so. Tomorrow we will have a full day at Kauai. NCL was not doing a good job with the communication yesterday, so no infos about the real problem yesterday and no word why they dont sail in the evening. We are really disappointed about that and for our long flights to Hawaii, that also ruin our holidays. We will resive 100 Dollar onboardcredit for pax 1 and 2 and 20% for a future cruise. For sure, that was our first and last NCL cruise and we will not use the 20%.
  8. Now it is 8:30 pm and we still in Hilo with no other information! The POA is in the port and now sign of sail away.
  9. In Hilo are at minimum two tug boats. We used for every manouver one or two tug boats and they take an hour to dock or sail away. We re-rentet our car from yesterday and we were in Kona by car, as we returned on the ship at 1 pm, there are news that we dock until 7 pm and tomorrow we would have a late arrival in Kauai at 2 pm instead of 8 am. The US Coast Guard don‘t let us sail at the moment. This was boring to not be informed earlier, so we had more time to drive on the island. The enterprise-office hier was really surprised that most of the clients from yesterday were back this morning :-). The chief ingineer is John Cullan.
  10. And our plann is to drive to Kona when we know how long we stay hier. But please no snow, we are swiss and at home its cold at the moment and will snow again.
  11. The chief engineer is a men at the moment. The ship really needs some maitenance. I was on more than 30 cruises and this is the first with a problem like this, boring is that we don‘t know how long we stay in Hilo today. We rentet a car for today but not to know when to be back is challenging. This will be our first and last NCL cruise, also the pax are special, many drunken elderly people on the ship. We never see things like this on a cruise. Our teen son was shoked after the first night after a old lady invited him to come with her in her cabin….
  12. We are on the Pride of America Cruise this week in Hawaii. Now we are in Hilo and unfortunately we have a technical problem so that we had to stay another day hier in Hilo instead of sailing to Kona. I am interested if that is the first time oder the ship has more problems like this? The cruise is special, especially the service on the ship.... but we like the Hawaiian Islands, so no problem.
  13. The YC on the World Europa is to small for the amount of cabins also the service was not good as on other ships, so I will sail next year in a normal cabin and pay with the money an other cruise on an other ship. Really the venues are too small for the more than 150 cabins. The restaurant, the TSL and the new grill on the deck were to crowded and small.
  14. There is a shuttle from the pier to the train station for 5 Euro each way… its a 12 min walk from the Shipp to the train station.
  15. The train ride is 12 Euros with bus and metro included. The Name is BIRG ticket. One way train ticket is 4.50 Euro. By train you are faster in Rome than by bus or car.
  16. When you are traveling in an other country please change some money in the local currency! I saw Americans in a Swiss train and the want to pay a train ticket with dollars, no chance! The staff accept only Swiss francs, Euros or credit cards. For the restaurat/bar/hotel staff it's not easy to exchange the foreign currency in a bank or so. They have to pay taxes and the change only bills no coins. And often there are not many banks nearby. So please take Euros when you traveling in Europe, also country without Euro like Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway... will take Euros, but no US dollars normally. When we are traveling we take only a few bills in the local currency and normally pay by credit cards. For us tourists its not a big thing to exchange money before we travel.
  17. We booked today on the Noordam von HAL for an Alaska cruise in July 2025. So no Princess, NCL or so.
  18. France and especially Paris will be at the highest Anti-Terror-Level in this summer. So not really easy to travel or stay in Paris, there will be a lot of Police and Army to protect the city and the hole country. We a rental car reservation for the three days in France on the cruise so, we look how the situation will be in July.
  19. Thank you! Yes we are booking for Alaska in summer 2025, so its the early booking promo. And we will go only with a soda-drink-package for the teens. The speciality dining is our adults only evening... and they will have a suite evening with the tv or so. In a neptune suite they will deliver food to the suite I think, like Cunard in the grills oder MSC in the Yacht Club?
  20. I am asking about the package for our teens not for us. I cruise with different lines and often we don't take drink or internet packages. Its also nice to have some days without internet and at home we don't drink a lot of alcohol.
  21. Wow, thats a bad service! We live in Europe and have dual nationality. For one nationality you have to go to the office, and then wait 20 minutes for the print of the passport. Sometimes are waiting times for an appointment for 4-6 weeks, but only bevor the summer holidays. And our other country have 3-4 days to print the passport.
  22. Thank you! Only guest 1 and 2 have the HIA Promo, so the kids have to pay gratuities und drinks. HIA for the kids, how is the price? And the not will use Wi-fi on the ship, they can stay some hours oder days without internet. They can use their data package on the land-days. Guest 1 and 2 have HIA, the kids not. So my question was about the kids an the gratuities for them. Its our first HAL-Family cruise, normally we cruise with other lines.
  23. Thank you Reova, and the gratuities for the Kids?
  24. We are looking forward to an Alaska cruise tour in Sommer 2025. We have to teens (15 and 17 next year) and have a offer for a Neptune suite with HIA. HIA is only for Person 1,2 but noch for the teens, right? There is also no drink package for the kids? And have the teen to pay the gratuities? I am a litte confused about our TA that don't have a lot of experience with the cruise tours and HAL.
