By "un-refurbished ship" do you mean a ship in need of refurbishment? That could be any ship sailing to be honest. Regent has a date and a list of extensive changes planned for Mariner that should exceed all expectations...except possibly the timing...but there is a lot of lead time required on these things.
They need time to evaluate and address an issue. It's not 1 person making the call, it is a process. I respectfully suggest that the end result has proven to be worth the patience required to get there.
I have roasted Regent before and I am sure I will again. See my recent post on the "other" page where I shared my thoughts about a GM who was too busy or "unavailable" to meet with a guest. I don't expect Regent to tell a guest everything...I wouldn't if I made that call....but I do expect them to make it right in the end...and like you, I have always seen them do so.
I would be happy if they could change the oil without destroying your car and charging you for work they didn't do. As I am sure you know, I was referring to the lead time required to schedule. Regent can't just ring up a shipyard and ask if they can bring the Mariner in Tuesday morning at 8AM.
I read the email - it was so vague that I can't tell you the reason for the re-schedule. My guess is that they needed an extra day in LA to get something done and lost their spots in Mexico and had to re-book where there was capacity...but this is only a guess.
Nope, I don't. I can't help you with what or when Regent decides to share. I do know that Regent will tell you when the Mariner is slated for a substantial drydock (Nov/Dec of 2025) but I doubt they will tell you what is going to happen or plans for changes to future WCs.....yet. Your rep prob knows more than they are saying....there are some things that just are not appropriate to share before they are announced.
This is an issue for all cruise lines. I see it daily.
I cannot stand the idea of people booking a cruise without being informed by their TA that the ports are subject to change without warning. Why are people mad at the cruise line and not their TAs?
The last I heard was either November or December of 2025....around the same time as Voyager. I also expect the WC to shift to a different ship but I don't know when this is going to happen yet.
So give you $5,000 in cash to stop bad-mouthing Regent and keep sailing on Regent after you already said "You lost this one, for good."...on top of the compensation already offered?
I don't have a contract, I have a disclosure. It tell the clients that the ports can change or be removed and the cruise line is not required to pay any compensation. It also suggests they read their contract or I will be happy to read it to them. I don't often accept new clients so this isn't a regular thing and the ones I have travel 6-9 months out of the year so they know what's up. I was asking in the hope that people were being educated by the TA's they are using.
When you book a cruise, doesn't your TA tell you that the cruise line can change EVERY port under the terms of the contract? Just curious...I have people sign a disclosure so that I can be absolutely certain they know exactly what the possibilities are.
Years ago? There was one a few months ago that made it to Youtube. A couple of weeks back, 4 people were kicked off Navigator as well. Regent won't tolerate that nonsense.
In this context, I consider a screamer to be anyone who cannot shut up about their political beliefs in public (on a ship). In today's world, discussing politics with strangers is just looking for trouble and utterly tasteless.
