I sail both RCCL and Celebrity often. They are not the same. There are key differences in culture (amusement parks vs quiet adult oriented). A lot of comparative threads on these differences. Even on their newest ships. A big difference is the smoking policy (in the casinos). I agree they are both pushing cost savings in different and similar ways, and every cruise line is pushing this right now. Not sure why everything becomes boiled down to lobster (🙂). I find the number of posts and threads on this very odd - but maybe just me.

We every so often get a post that asks the question - "Royal just did this, will Celebrity follow?". They are two different cruise lines, even though owned by the same corporation. There are many differences. Celebrity generally does not automatically adopt RCCL changes. Does Princess or Cunard adopt changes by Carnival, even though all owned by the same corporation? No.

We were on Equinox recently. You cannot use it at the World Class Bar either.

They sometimes check on the first morning. Even so, they will let her in with you.

This is a short and sweet answer- and what the majority of people do.

There is a special Elite happy hour drink menu. It is a limited selection. Nothing premium.

Just go to any specialty restaurant on board and see the staff member at the podium. They will book for you. But do this fairly early after you board for best selections. Even if every time appears sold out on line in advance, they hold a number of times open for bookings once on the ship.

If in a suite, once on board go to the Retreat Lounge and have the concierge book everything for you.

@Georgia_Peaches it looks like you and DH are having a great time! Following along. Your onboard review is excellent and I feel like I am there with you guys. ( I wish!). 😀

A lot of Celebrity suite cruisers like you are switching to Oceania. Other than itinerary and size of ship, I am interested to know how they stack up? What is equivalent to a Sky suite on Oceania? What do you get vs the Retreat suite benefits (and Luminae) on Oceania? Not looking for a comprehensive list- just some key differences if any. Thank you!

Once on the ship go right away to the MDR and speak to the staff out front.

One suggestion. Arrange a private tour and check on your Roll Call to see if anybody wants to join and share the cost.

The OVC at dinner has greatly improved on APEX according to this recent thread. see the video.

Thank you! Neither seems to be associated with Diageo from what I could find. The company making Brugal is Edrington. They also make Macallan amongst other whiskies.

Far more guests on Celebrity have drink packages (premium or classic) than guests on Royal C. So the two lines might have different policies even though owned by the same corporation.

Al perhaps you are missing the point? A lot of folks for various reasons occasionally have dinner in the OVC. So @Cap_D was documenting the improvements over what it was earlier in the year.

@Cap_D thank you so much both for the original report and this updated report. Great job. Your original post and the resulting feedback hopefully helped Celebrity to understand the unhappiness with their Jan 1 dinner OVC changes. We sailed EQ Jan 21 and it was pizza and pasta only. If these improvements you show on APEX become fleet-wide, I for one would be very happy. I rarely go to the OVC for dinner but for the selections you now show I could definitely find something to eat for sure. Thanks again!

A few weeks ago they told us that they were working to get Spa appointments to show in the Celebrity app in the calendar. Glad it is there now.
