  2. Didn’t get a letter before the cruise and there was nothing in our room other than a generic welcome letter.
  3. We eventually got one but the butler implied that he was doing as a favour.
  4. I have no problem with that. Nature - it is what it is. The onboard experience is another matter. We have one thing figured out though. My wife’s Black Russian tasted funny because the bartender used Tia Maria instead of Kahlua which is the standard.
  5. Sorry about that. It’s a week long Caribbean cruise leaving from Cape Canaveral on Oct.16 with stops at Ocean Cay (2 days), Costa Maya and Cozumel. The second week there’s a stop in Naussa and only one day at Ocean Cay.
  6. We are on the Meraviglia right now spinning in the waters off Ocean Cay. Unable to dock because of currents. This is our fifth YC cruise and so far we are extremely disappointed. We cruised on the Seashore in April and had a great experience. This one is a dud so far. We’ve heard other people say the same thing. Service is non existent. The liquor tastes funny. The YC bar has nothing premium in stock. Cutbacks everywhere. No sparkling wine in your room. Nothing about the mini fridge (last cruise we received a bottle of liquor). Diamond perks cutback no chocolate ship, no gift. Our butler knocked at our door, introduced himself and said call if you need anything. No explaining anything. It almost seems like the crew is staging some sort “work to rule’” labour demonstration. We are on this ship for a B2B so I sure hope things improve, but they appear to be going in the opposite direction. I will post again later with an update.
  7. On Monday I submitted my application for a 15 day Panama Canal cruise in January. In my covering email I always request a confirmation and updated amenity list. I checked my online account on Tuesday and the $250 benefit had been added, but I have not received a confirmation email yet.
  8. Just wondering how much people have been dinged with port taxes using the plus package. I think it would add up pretty quickly if you stared drinking high end stuff prior to sail away or when visiting Puerto Rico.
  9. Absolutely great post. I’ve had dinner experiences compromised by loud and obnoxious, self serving idiots but never by someone wearing shorts.

  11. I’ve been using a PCC lately after having a falling out with my TA. On the weekend I booked a B2B online to secure cabins that were in limited supply. Is it possible to transfer the reservations over to the PCC and is there any benefit to them if I do so?
  12. I cruise in the Haven often. I would enjoy the experience much more if all tips were included in the cruise fare.
  13. That’s not true. When Hurricane Irma hit a few years ago, NCL cancelled their weekend cruises on Tuesday. I was very appreciative as it gave us plenty of time to cancel our hotel and air. Some other lines didn’t cancel until Thursday stranding people in South Florida as the airports closed for the storm.
  14. Your teens will be fine with neat shorts and a collared top like a golf shirt. I wore. shorts in the YC on the Seashore in April as did many other cruisers and as far as I can tell, no one around me threw up or left in disgust.
  15. I’m a Canadian too and echo your thoughts. Canada has managed the Pandemic much better than the US so go figure MSC’s reasoning. I really believe someone in corporate doesn’t like Canada. The insurance stipulation was the same thing and before that the mixed vaccines fiasco. I really enjoy cruising in the Yacht Club, but when they make it a privilege to buy their product it’s time to look elsewhere.
  16. We love both ships. The only negative thing about the Escape is it doesn’t have an Observation Lounge. The Joy doesn’t have a thermal spa. They both have Spice H2O. With kids I would probably pick the Escape.

  18. That’s a pretty big tip to deliver snacks. By the way, the snacks are usually delivered by someone else.
  19. Tried to do a price comparison on my Bliss Panama Canal cruise in January from Miami and it’s gone from the website. Haven’t heard anything about it being cancelled so.., The other odd thing is that I received a port change notification a couple days ago and I recently purchased Vibe passes for the cruise. Is it possible it’s sold out, Anybody have any ideas?
  20. Gary - were you able to use the plus drink package at the Vibe bar. Did they have champagne, top shelf tequila, etc.
