  1. Really can't compare them to Royal, whatsoever. Or any other mainstream line. They also got shut down last Thursday (the 13th) with a No Sail Order until they could come into compliance for a variety of issues. https://www.wptv.com/lifestyle/travel/no-sail-order-issued-for-margaritaville-cruise-ship-docked-at-port-of-palm-beach
  2. Same, lived on Lake Union, worked on Queen Anne Hill. My point was it's not as convenient to the true downtown/city center as Pier 66 next to Pike Market where other lines sail from. However, I think most have moved over to Smith, but I know NCL still leaves from 66. I still live in Washington, just not in the city of Seattle, moved to the burbs.
  3. Royal doesn't leave from the pier that is 'downtown'. They leave from Smith Cove, Pier 91, which is NW of the downtown area.
  4. Yes--and it's midnight based on where the ship is homeported. So if it leaves out of Miami, it will be midnight eastern, out of Galveston will be midnight central, Los Angeles will be midnight pacific. Same holds true for ships that sail from places like Southampton, Rome, etc.
  5. you go back into the link where you originally placed your bid. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/booked/cruise-room-upgrade
  6. They did when I was just on Odyssey. The lines were long and if someone didn't show or had told their server they weren't going to show up--they sat the people from the line. I know because it happened with the table next to us twice during our sailing. Maybe that's not the normal procedure, but it happened.
  7. Going to the Windjammer after an excursion is a great plan. They have a ton of different things to choose from, everyone gets what they want and there are groups of lots of tables all together. Also, it's easy to just head there right from the excursion and not feel like you need to 'dress for dinner' if that's something you would normally do for the main dining room. You should let your servers in the main dining room know the night before that you won't be there the next night. That way the table can get used at your normal time by someone who is waiting on a My Time Dining spot to open up for that night.
  8. It's now 45 days out. Go into the app, click on the little 'head' up at the top and it will give you your check in date.
  9. Check to see the max allowed, I think it might be 8 people.
  10. I did a search and found a Cruise Compass posted from Day 1/Boarding day of the 3 night sailing from just a couple of weeks ago--the June 24th sailing. As you can see, the only specialty restaurants open on boarding day were Jamie's and Johnny Rockets, as well as Playmakers starting to serve food at 11:30 am.
  11. I just pulled my Cruise Compasses out from Day 2 and 3 (I didn't get one for Day 1/boarding day so can't help you there) and here's what was listed as being open: Day 2, Sea Day: Hooked, noon till 1:30 pm Jamie's, noon till 1:30 pm Johnny Rockets, 11 am until 7 pm Playmakers, open at 9 am but food available starting at noon, through midnight Day 3, Port Day: Johnny Rockets, 11 am until 7 pm Playmakers, open at 9 am but food available starting at noon, through midnight
  12. And Johnny Rockets Express will also be open and is included in the UDP.
  13. I think Jamie's was the only one open on boarding day. Are you doing a 3 day (Ensenada)? If so, that day 3 is a port day, and on all the ships, most specialty dining is closed during lunch because so many people are off the ship visiting the port. The only places open during the day when we were in port, other than Loco Fresh, Promenade Cafe and Windjammer, were Johnny Rockets and Playmakers--both places are on the unlimited dining plan. I stayed on board, but ended up grabbing some food from Windjammer. I don't eat seafood/sushi, so I ate at Chops and Jamie's. Both were great. Hope this helps.
  14. I tried the usb port on the side of the phone on the nightstand--not enough juice to charge my phone, got the error message on my cell telling me to connect to a different charger. haha!
  15. Nope, and no outlet near the nightstands either at least not in the Jr Suite or balcony rooms I've been in this year. Only outlet is at the desk, but no USB, just regular electrical outlet.
  16. Royal has posted it -- they started it when they returned to sailing, now that they are trying to adhere to assigned boarding times. I was in a Crown Loft in March and it was in force at that time, I don't think it's changed. So if you chose a 1 pm boarding time, you could come as early as noon, for example. Not all ports are strict, but I think PC has been?
  17. Suites can arrive within a one hour window on either side of the time you chose for your check-in. There will be a Suite line.
  18. Allure, it's a fantastic ship. And you mentioned food being something that seems to be important--Allure has TONS of restaurants, both included and specialty. The shows are fabulous. Mamma Mia and the Aqua theater show aren't to be missed.
  19. If you want to bring it, you can bring up to 12 bottles/cans of non-alcoholic beverages, no larger than 17 ounces each. THIS IS PER STATEROOM, not per person. You must carry it on, it can't be in checked bags. It is on the website, here's the link. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/food-drink-onboard-policy
  20. Based on the OP's signature line, it appears that the suite is on Independence. So no Coastal Kitchen or other Quantum/Oasis Suite Class-type perks. Now to find out if it's a Jr. Suite, which really doesn't have suite perks like a Grand Suite and above would have. @FaeCruisers, let us know if it is on Indy and also if it's a grand suite or higher category. That way we can help you. As someone else said, if it's a Jr. Suite, there really isn't much other than you get a bathtub in your room and you do get to board in the suite line, if they have one, at embarkation. Oh, and you get two C&A points per night instead of one.
  21. I book online, but usually call at least once between booking and sailing--for things like a price drop. Also, I have done this for a party of 3 quite recently--again, zero issues. I have sailed 4 times this year and never a problem. Sailing with a group of 4 in September, have requested a table just for us. I will do as I always do, go to the main dining room upon boarding to ask where the table is located. I will say that if I haven't liked where the table was going to be (such as in a really high-traffic area at the entrance) I ask very politely if there are any other options for a better location. I do this with a $20 in my hand. 😉 Always have been accommodated.
  22. I have never been turned down when asking for a table for two for the entire sailing--and I always have a fixed dining time. That is even pre-Covid when ships were always at capacity. In fact, pretty much every single time that I've booked through Royal, the rep asks me 'would you like a table for two or would you like to be seated at a larger table with others?' I choose table for two, then as soon as I board, head to the main dining room to confirm that and take a look at the location of the table. Never an issue.
  23. No, because inventory fluctuates. Royal Up saves a lot of $$, but there's also quite a bit of risk if you are particular about location.
