  1. oh, and this was my only complaint about the cruise. The rest was marvellous. Just to ensure people didnt think I was just moaning😋
  2. On the occasion I was with the future cruise rep, there was at least 6 kids upto around 11 I would say, looked they were playing a game of hide and seek, on Deck 4, running between future cruises and Cafe Al Bachio. There was no parents with them. Hence the comment from the Rep. She looked genuinely shocked. They were also playing in the lifts behind the Casino. Of course, if you take children on an 11 night cruise on a ship, with very little for kids to do, then I suppose this is all they have. It was such a bad look for Celebrity.
  3. That was a mental summer in the UK. England does go football crazy if the national team does well. Wimbledon a bit too serene for most of us though. And if I remember right trump wasn't exactly welcomed with open arms so there was lots of protests. And I should remember the heat as that doesn't happen often.
  4. Does this happen on other cruise lines? I have only sailed celebrity in the last 20 years and this is first time I felt I was on a family cruise. Even a crew member from the future cruise desk said they had never seen anything like it before.
  5. Happened quite a lot on celebrity beyond last week. Seems like the kids were bored and access to the lifts was through part of the casino. I think their parents thought the crew were child minders. Strange for a company selling itself as more premium?
  6. I love staying on the ship in Port days. Ship is nearly empty and there is no forced fun taking place on the pool deck. Bars are still open, and so is the buffet. What's not to love?
  7. I am going on Constellation next year. Can't wait. I too am sticking with celebrity until they let me down. So far, fingers crossed, they haven't.
  8. 330. Too many so not playing for a couple of months. Always wishing my life away.
  9. Right so this is how it played out. Day 1. Arrived Rome. Day 2 Sicily. Excursion was cancelled by provider. Stayed on ship. Also slightly hung over. Day 3 sea day Day 4 santorini. Did volcanic ash beach visit. Then walked down the 580 steps back to ship. Hated it. Felt sorry for the poor donkeys. Cruelty to animals. Day 5. Mykonos Stayed on ship. Looked nice though. Hung over part 2. Day 6. Istanbul. Afternoon on Bosphorus then a trip to the grand bazaar. Day 7. Istanbul Stayed on ship Day 8. Kusadasi Trip to ephesus. Loved it there. Kusadasi is wonderful Day 9. Athens Acropolis visit. Not as good as i had hoped. Roads were horrendously busy. Day 10 sea day incl rescue incident. Day 11 naples Just hoped off boat for an hours look round. More of sea day. Very very hung over. Day 12 back to Rome So i reckon that's 5.5 days on ship 4.5 on land. Not bothered if I never go back to santorini ever again. Biggest disappointment of cruise.
  10. On beyond we had to be on board 30 minutes before due departure time. Many folk were arriving back way past this time. Especially the 2nd day in Istanbul. Not surprised though, as it was almost impossible to go anywhere.
  11. Well I can absolutely confirm many many thousands did travel without tickets and istanbul was bonkers. Even our local travel guide said it was the busiest he could ever remember it. It really is a mental city made much more bonkers by the sea of light blue and blue/black football shirts. Our 4 hour excursion was extended to 5.5 just because the buses were going nowhere fast. Loved it though.
  12. Well that was interesting The track on Beyond was a figure of 8, so we went both clockwise and anti clockwise. Brilliant running track though The hill climb was hard graft.
  13. Thanks. It was very strange. Weird. Many were completely unaware of what was happening, some even believing a container ship had gone down. Some of the staff were devastated. It was odd. We decided to go for coffee, in the ocean view cafe, and many were enjoying breakfast....blissfully unaware of what was happening just a few hundred yards away. I felt guilty even having a coffee.
  14. First one was Disney 2002. Can't have been that good as it was 2019 for the next one. Celebrity Edge. So I am taking this as my first. It was celebrity Edge, think that covers all the reasons to do it again.
  15. Thank the God of alcohol for the premium drinks package. My saviour.
  16. I am embarrassed to admit I got absolutely hammered on martini at the martini bar on Wednesday night After the awful day, we decided to just get plastered. We worked our way down the martini cocktail list. I wasn't well Thursday. A dirty cocktail is the worst drink i have ever tried. It was rancid.
  17. Maybe if they paid more, more competent bar tenderers would take the jobs? Not that I am complaining. The ones on all of my cruises have been superb. I mean, it's just a drink.
  18. Celebrity beyond was called on during our cruise to assist on the tragic sinking of a fishing boat carrying up to 400 people trying to escape Libya. Sadly only 100 were rescued. We awoke at around 6am to find our ship static around 60 miles south of Grease on our way to Naples. It had been called at 2.30am. We were in a group of ships of varying sizes and types incl 2 container ships, a Greek navy frigate and numerous fishing boats. And two rescue helicopters. After witnessing a little of what was happening, and hearing about the devastating losses, it made me realise just how lucky we all are. We set back off to Naples at around 8am, but for me that day was done. It was the second last day, sea day, and in many ways ended the cruise for me. Couldn't get thoughts of those lost just yards from us out of my head.
  19. By the way. Anyone not happy with the food, the staff, the entertainment, and the general ship itself, on board Celebrity Beyond, cant really be enjoying life generally. The amount of little creatures though, now that's a different matter. They must have been bored rigid.
  20. It's very much monty python's 4 Yorkshire men sketch, this thread ( I know it wasn't theirs originally but they did it better) Our ship was just a floating cardboard box and our dad gave us tar for tea. A cardboard box? Tsk, you were lucky, we dreamed of having a cardboard to sail in. Etc etc
  21. Well if it makes you feel better mine is 331 days away. That's some horizon.
  22. I feel the same just having left celebrity beyond. The entertainment was off the scale. Not much to my taste, but it was hardly likely to be, but it was still amazing.
  23. Having just left celebrity beyond this morning I can more than confirm some people are spoilt. More like entitled children. Some of nasty behaviour was off the scale. Being disrespectful to staff, moaning about the food.....too small a portion, not like i have had previously, I want a baked potato with this.......honest to god it was embarrassing. One woman laughed when she received her main course claiming it was the smallest portion she had ever seen. All she had to do was eat it then order another one. It was the main dining room not a speciality restaurant. Whats wrong with people? Its an amazing ship with an amazing crew who work their nuts off. I was too busy living my best life to find anything to moan about. Well there was one thing. More of that later, but this really surprised me. Especially on a primarily adult ship. Any guesses?
  24. 331 Booked whilst on celebrity beyond. Giving Constellation a spin in 331 days.
