  1. IMO this is a very good thing, we "elderly" over 60's tend to have just a wee tad more disposable income, enabling us to not have to cruise with the exaggerated crowd differences on those short mini 5 day booze cruises.
  2. Gee, I'd hate to see how you deal with a real "problem"
  3. and I am sure the answer is here somewhere, just to lazy to look. I have made 4 specialty dining reservations from my planner, uisng OBC, Eden 2x and Rooftop Garden Grill 2x. Each dinner res time populates in my calendar but it also deducts the cost for each from my available OBC. I have specialty dining included, so once I check-in or get on-board does the OBC $ automatically get credited back or do I need to talk to GS or someone at each of the restaurants? Obviously not worth tying up the phone by calling Celebrity as it is most likely easily cleared up once on-board, I was just curious if anyone knows how this actually works. THX
  4. I got to say, I am pretty certain the stores in Italy sell sizes beyond just what Sophia Loren can wear
  5. Very common in our country as well, probably even more so
  6. I'm here just for the pure entertainment value you provide, and it's FREE! One does not need to brag about being as rich and dripping with cash as you love to point out, to enjoy a good show. I love me a good matinee, more popcorn please.
  7. In the US all over 60 can have the boosters, I've got both. I read that once the new booster is approved and ready to rollout, they plan to do an advertising blitz to encourage people to get the new shot. I plan to get it, but in the US we are at approx 67+% fully vaccinated (and the number has not chnaged in almost 2 years) and les than that with the booster. IMO anyone who has wanted the first two and now the two boosters, has gotten them already. No amount of advertising is going to get anyone else to rush out and get the new shot. Those that want them, have received and will do so again in the fall, but IMO the $$$ spend to over advertise could be put to much better use. Of course, advert to let folks know they are now available, lord knows the news will be all over it, but just no need to go overboard on it.
  8. That would be a deal breaker for me, I like to once or twice a cruise, have folks over for a beverage etc, I'd not do that if they had to go through my bedroom to use the water closet. There is also a suite on another ship, EDGE??, that looks like the only access to the balcony is also through the bedroom. I've only seen it on YouTube and the suite looks lovely, but again why would they design it like that!?!
  9. Indeed! I am not very techie (my husband asks why I even have an iPhone) but I figure if I play around with the app for a couple months before the cruise, perhaps ??? I will be good to go once on-board. 🙂
  10. And it seems some people create "fake" FB, and other various social media accounts with just their vacation name which they share. Lot easier to just be up front and say, "I don't use social media", it's honest, direct and me thinks most of the crew would be relieved that they don't need to worry about responding to what's his/her name from Paducah and showered me with money in the hopes I would remember them on their week among 3000 others on the cruise.
  11. It's not the craftsmanship, it is because it is cost prohibitive. We still build US military ships in the US, but the costs are exorbitant. Look we are not building Old Ironsides here, that's not the craftsmanship we are talking about. Lots of factors come into play, politics, unions, procuring materials from other countries etc.
  12. I'm with you! I've never met a balcony that I could not spend the day on enjoying meals from room service/butler, a good book and a drink or 7
  13. I vote that you do it, then come back and report your results from the port they leave you at 🎲
  14. I even have the room control buttons for the stateroom and key, I wonder if I can turn the ligths off/on and open/close the curtains on the guest in there now...
  15. Not in my opinion. I am on a cruise in Oct, from Rome, which under the current rules I will need the test 2 days prior to boarding and will need to do this in Rome. From Rome the ship makes zero stops in Italy, so there is that. Final disembarkation point is Fort Lauderdale, really don't think Italy cares about me possible spreading it there. My point is IMO the testing now is useless.
  16. Thank you for your post, VERY refreshing and wonderful that you had such a good experience. I am expecting the same in Oct when I sail on EDGE. Unfortunately, it seems that many, obviously not all, the only time they come here is to go on a rant and then about some of the smallest things. More people should take the few minutes time it takes, as you did for your cruise, it goes a long way.
  17. My cruise is not until Oct 24, everything is in my app as far as tours, sp dinner res and I made res for a couple of the MDR's too and all are in the app already. It also says I can check-in 90 days before the cruise, which is not accrate, as it also says check back, we'll let you know when we are ready, we're getting everything ready for you. I was not trying to check-in but I just noticed it there when I was playing around with the app to familiarize myself. Certainy not a big deal to me at all, I am low key and will check-in whenever, I assume they will send an email letting me know.
  18. For peace of mind, can you book them on your own (perhaps refundable) and assuming you finally get from Celebrity, just use whichever ones make the most sense. I've a;ready made final payment for an October TA and hemmed and hawed so did not make air res before final. Now if I want to to do that, if I cancel or chnage, there is a $200 chnage/cancel fee pp. I'll figure out the best option, make my own or still use Celebrity, I just want to get that last piece all finaized this weekend. Then the only thing I will have to fret about (maybe) is getting tested in Rome before the cruise. Overall though, it's been a very stressless experience, I have a fantatstic TA, who was able to maneuver some NRD to this new cruise w/o any penalties.
  19. Pass the popcorn please and thank you
  20. I now only do cruises that are very unlikely to attract kids; TA’s, Med et al and I only sail early/mid fall and/or spring. If want the Caribbean or Mexico I go 18+ all inclusive.
  21. Because they can, and I love the people on Celebrity board who sail in Retreat suites with AI and they truly believe the unreliable internet is free
  22. And don’t forget Kelly, after all she is responsible for the Hoppinization of the spa and me thinks she needs some of the blame.
  23. Sounds like you are OK with mediocrity, but like the OP, most of us are not. Frankly it’s because those of us who aren’t afraid to speak up when service is not up to par, then the quiet ones will benefit from us. Enjoy accepting mediocrity, most of us will not.
  24. If anyone finds a soaking wet baseball hat with a Montreal Canadiens. I found it, and it is now floating in the Atlantic, all the est!
