  1. I haven't run into that yet, but I'd find it frustrating too. If I did run into that, I'd be getting with my PCC, since she could probably get me an assigned cabin. If I didn't have a PCC or TA, then I would do the thing that none of us want to do - call in to book. Failing all of that, I simply wouldn't book a cruise. I've grown very picky about where I want to put us.
  2. My understanding and based on when we used to book guarantees sometimes is that it can happen anytime between right after booking and when you arrive at the pier. That isn't much help, is it? 🙂
  3. I can't either. I'm betting 9:00 am, Pacific time. If all goes well.
  4. I have never seen this option. I'm new to HAL also, and for my first booking I'd called in to get Club Orange. I picked the cabin we wanted and asked the phone rep to mark it "no upgrade." He (or she, don't remember) acted like I had two heads. Said that HAL never did upgrades. 🤔
  5. I'm sure of that too. Looking at the deckplans, I think there's an excellent chance they were under the main galleys. That would be very noisy.
  6. Those two points are what I'm wondering about - what time and which restaurant will be handling with type of dining. I'm wanting a table for two in early traditional, and who can tell how popular that option will be. I'm guessing pretty popular.
  7. I'm on this one the week before, sailing on the 7th. This is a one-way, from Whittier to Vancouver. You would fly into Anchorage and go from there to Whittier, Princess bus or other. I'm doing it as part of the 9 day cruisetour with bear viewing at Brooks. This cruise is a good choice, since it hits both Hubbard and Glacier Bay. It's possible to get rain and/or fog in either place, but having both on the same cruise gives you two chances for a spectacular glacier viewing.
  8. This is true. It's a very rare night that I don't have to get up and trek off to the bathroom. I'd be a very unhappy cruiser to have to leave the cabin in the middle of the night and find a working public toilet.
  9. Only you can say if it would be worth it to you. For me, it absolutely is. My hubby is a really sweet guy, but he really (really, really) hates standing in line. If I can pay only $10 to possibly prevent standing in a line, then I'll do it every last time.
  10. I can only answer item 3. Every time we've cruised since the restart and the app, I've seen the option to upgrade my single plan to 4-device in the app. Given that, I can't see why it wouldn't still be possible.
  11. These are what I think of as the "big, silly sundaes." We don't buy packages, but on our last cruise we still had OBC late in the cruise. So, we bought a big, silly sundae. This one is the Godfather. It's basically a brownie sundae, and it was fine. I wouldn't ever buy one of those unless I was trying to burn through OBC.
  12. I really hope so, but I also really doubt it.
  13. All of the cruises we've done on the Royal class ships have been in high deck cabins and far forward. We like motion, but we've never had any significant motion on these cruises. I realize that others may have other experiences.
  14. We had a balcony cabin on Lido on the Majestic and never heard a thing from the pool area. Ours was pretty far forward, and I'd imagine the closer you got to the pool area the more chance of noise.
  15. I think this one might need correcting: APRIL 2026 Westerdam - 12-Apr-26- 29 day Japan & North Pacific Collector StartrainDD Volendam - 19-May-26 - 7 day Great Bear Rain Forest Euby Euby is on the April 19-26 Great Bear Rain Forest cruise, as am I. That's on the Noordam. 🙂
  16. That's not been my experience. For our next cruise, I've changed the flights more than once for one reason or another. Each time, I chose seats. The cruise is in August, and the Delta flights aren't ticketed.
  17. Yes, you're reading it right. It's the Michealangelo that's on the same deck as the IC.
  18. You're going to love those cabins! 😁
  19. I love those cabins! The two on Marina deck are our very favorites. Back in April we had one on Lido deck, and it was also great. The Marina deck cabins have larger, think huge, decks, while the cabins on Lido have smaller but still very large decks and larger bedrooms. As noted above, looking out the window at the stars is wonderful. You only need to keep the curtains closed when you have a light on in the cabin. We open our curtains when we turn in for the night. These cabins have steel-fronted balconies, which doesn't bother us. We like the separation between sleeping and living areas, since one of us can get up way too early (not always the same person) and be free to move around without disturbing the other.
  20. I don't have any recent pics, but when we had M108 on the Royal some years back the furniture was padded. I think it's likely that it isn't by now. I say that because the same cabins on the newer ships don't have padded furniture, in my experience.
  21. I did that to us once, put us under the galley. You're completely right. The noise never stopped.
