So confused, Barefoot Beach Cabanas
RosieRoo replied to Dolby1000's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I don’t know if you get to choose your cabana, but last month when I was there I thought some of them were not in very desirable locations. I don’t think I would have been happy if I paid for a cabana and then found out it was at the back of the beach area near the food stand. -
Radiance Class - Noise in Junior Suites (J3, J4)?
RosieRoo replied to PaperSniper4's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Had a JS under the tiled area of the Windjammer. We didn’t pick it, it was assigned from a guarantee. The worst twelve nights we ever had on a ship. At 3 am they were rolling carts across the tile floor above our heads. It was so bad they ended up giving us half our money back. Love the Radiance class, but I’d be careful about picking my cabin next time. -
We were just there last month. Concierge met us at the lounge and took us down in the elevator. Didn’t need water shoes. Lunch was nothing special, just less crowded. I will say, we were one of the first group there and were able to snag chairs close to the beach, but it filled up fast. The floats are free, but whoever gets there early takes most of them. There weren’t a lot. We brought blow up noodles and stayed in the water most of the day.

I see the sailing you are on and then nothing until she shows up in Galveston in November. She has to get to Galveston somehow. Hopefully there will be a transatlantic at some point. -

On Anthem now. The concierge said she’s having a dry dock at some point and then eventually off to Asia. Not sure if that is true or not. -

The Grandeur is sailing Tampa to Boston at the end of August 2024. Then it does a few sailings out of Boston after that. -

@Jumping Cruiser, thank you for that comparison. That’s very helpful. We have sailed Anthem, but never Odyssey. -

Pricing is higher for the Grandeur repo than it was for the Serenade. -

We were told the same thing on Harmony a couple of weeks ago. -
We were in a suite last week on Harmony and visited Barefoot Beach. There was no steak. There was hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken and cold shrimp, as well as some prepackaged salads. Nothing I would pay extra for. Not sure what cabanas you are referring to. There are some right on the beach where people sit right in front of your cabana and some on the cliff. I would not pay for one of those on the beach. There’s really no privacy.
-
It’s definitely still there. We used it on Harmony last week. Looked like someone took it out of the wash, rolled it into a ball and put it back in the bag. Would not have been able to wear any of the items again except maybe the underwear. We ended up sending it all back and they redid it. I would advise against sending anything you really like.

Miami airport to Fort lauderdale hotel transport
RosieRoo replied to Cruisekid25's topic in Florida Departures
Just took an Uber from Miami airport to Ft Lauderdale hotel downtown last night. It was during rush hour so there was traffic and the fare was $58. They pick up right outside of baggage claim across the street. -
I have a travel agent question...
RosieRoo replied to GetToLivin's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have AmEx, but not the Platinum one. It may have changed, but I know when my sister booked before she didn’t book thru AmEx and she was able to get the perks. Best for the OP to ask the TAs she’s thinking about using ahead of time. -
I understand that. I’m telling you I’ve booked before using one of these promos. You are charged the $1000 and the $350 is then given as a credit after you make the transaction. When I had to cancel the cruise I was reimbursed the entire $1000. That’s why I asked if this actually happened to you because that was not my experience.

This cruise has been done for the last couple of years on the Summit. Look for the roll calls from previous sailings. There’s tons of info there.

My sister has a platinum AmEx. You do not have to book thru AmEx to get the benefits. She always received them with any TA she booked thru. -
Love the Radiance class ships. They are my favorite, but I don’t usually book above a JS as the suite perks just aren’t that great. Royals suite perks are not the same across the board. On the larger ships like Oasis and Anthem you get Coastal Kitchen for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the all day suite lounge and free internet. You don’t get any of that on the Radiance class ships, but I still love them. Also, any of the drinks you consume in the suite lounge during happy hour don’t count towards your free D or D+ drinks.

I was on Summit last July for my birthday and then again in October for her repositioning to Florida. If you love Radiance class you will love the Summit.
-
If you are a regular RC cruiser, Summit is comparable with the Radiance Class. Silhouette is bigger and newer. Having said that, I love the Summit and it was just revolutionized in 2019.

The last time we did this was last spring. We kept everything on hangers and packed up all our small items. We searched out our room steward for the next sailing and told him we were moving to his section and he said he would make up that room first so it would be ready early in the am. Our room steward was super busy in the am so instead of making him move everything we just moved everything ourselves. It was super easy.
