  1. About two weeks ago I had to go to office to meet with someone who said, please have a seat. I said, no — those chairs are too uncomfortable and I don’t think I can stand up after sitting in one because they are so low. He said. Went back today, there are new chairs. Wish Celebrity would do the same!
  2. Santorini has a dock and sometimes it is used to drop people off to start shore excursions.
  3. The mast Grill should be open. once in a while the Sushi place is open. other specialty restaurants, no. this is on M and S class ships. What you might find on an e class ship, I don’t know
  4. Infinite verandas have windows that can open. Sunset verandahs have balconies Porthole verandahs have balconies that are set in the hull like this
  5. Sorry I don’t know which ship this was but this is one of the forward facing cabins. And here was my view of a helicopter evacuation
  6. The ocean view forward facing cabins have more square footage, but no more furniture than any other ocean view room. The window is at a slant and if you walk toward it to check out the view of the helipad, as noted, beware of bumping your head. You might be asked to keep the curtains across the window at night so light coming from your room doesn’t interfere with the bridge. If you have a choice, choose the deck eight rooms rather than the deck seven rooms. The deck seven rooms are above the exterior door leading to the crew recreation area and the helipad. You may hear noise when that door slams shut
  7. Follow up. I just went to an upcoming reservation for which I have select dining, and it now has a checkbox for accepting the terms and conditions. I looked at the terms and conditions and this is what is there. I don’t remember ever seen such a thing before for select dining
  8. I just saw this in another thread. I haven’t seen it mentioned before. Has anyone gotten this message? Does it refer only to select dining no-shows or for fixed dining no-shows or is it a total mistake? What is going on? I assume that the poster meant that they had not encountered this on previous cruises.
  9. You need to make a phone call to do this. The website portal is not functioning at this time. Call Celebrity captains club
  10. No. And if anyone claims to have such a crystal ball, they are lying.
  11. The connections party never seems like an afterthought to me. Celebrity set up refreshments, and usually several officers attended. The number always depended on how many had signed up on Cruise Critic, and 100 attendees would be a typical group from my experience. When the Start up began, Celebrity was trying to discourage groups from getting together. The connections party with just one example. They also discouraged the veterans get together, the service group get together, even the friends of Bill. Now that groups are once again allowed, the ships are shortstaffed and devoting a couple of staff members to setting up and cleaning up the connections party isn’t happening now. I think once the ships are back to full staffing, we will see the connections party return.
  12. I very much doubt they would make you move. You are already in a double occupancy Stateroom that happens to be able to be able to handle another person.
  13. Other than the seven night cruise to Alaska, you won’t often find a beyond the podium speaker on a seven night cruise. They need two or three or even four sea days to book speakers. So usually you find them on repositioning cruises, trans oceanic cruises, longer South America Cruises, and so forth
  14. I get the same message. I will give it a couple of days and try again later and meanwhile I will see if there is a way to do it at a website without using the app
  15. I agree that you will probably need to upgrade to the premium for Wi-Fi calling to work. I have found it to be a very good and reliable way to keep in touch with people and seldom have any difficulties with it. That being said I would be hesitant to tell anyone that I will call every day at a specific time because that might be a moment where the Internet is not working. So rather than saying “I’ll call you every day at 10” I would recommend that he say “I will call you every day at some point during the day “
  16. On board. Tell the stateroom attendant what night you want it and they will chill it for you and bring champagne flutes
  17. I guess the reason I wait until after final payment is that by then I am pretty sure I will actually take that cruise. Prior to final payment, I might change my mind and that really complicates redeeming points, since they are tied to a specific cruise reservation.
  18. I redeem points for cruise discounts rather than for extra OBC and here’s how I do it. I booked the cruise and wait until final payment has been made. (I’m not sure if I would have to wait for that, I just always have.). Then I put in for the redemption and on my next credit card statement there is a credit for those points redeemed. The cruise price doesn’t change and there is no recalculation. The reason I don’t redeem for onboard credit is based on this idea: assuming that you are going to Cruises on Celebrity or Royal Caribbean again, you will want to build up more points and all spending on Celebrity give you bonus points. So rather than redeem for on-board credit, I redeem for the credit on my next statement.
  19. Thanks, BruinsSteve for the excellent reminder of what we went through with all the various “lift and shift” maneuvers. But like Ocdublin I have some concerns that millennium does not show on port schedules for my April 9 2024 cruise. Knowing that it is sold out, I don’t expect to see it on the Celebrity website, but I would think that the port arrangements should be showing. Not in panic mode by any mean, just watchful and wary.
  20. I don’t really know how to check Port schedules so I will take your word for it that celebrity millennium does not show on the Japanese port schedules prior to April 21. I am also booked on April 9 and I am worried about that cruise. Do you see any sign of celebrity millennium at any other Asian port in March or April prior to the April 21 itinerary?
  21. I did six weeks once, three back to backs, each was 14 days. I exercised more than I do at home, and actually felt better at the end of the cruises than I did at the start. I swam every day and walked the walking track most days. Just as I don’t eat in a restaurant every night at home, I didn’t eat in the main dining room every night. I watched for dinner specials and themes in the ocean view and had very good Greek food there. I never ate desserts i looked forward to the guitarists, duos and small ensembles that played in the lounges in the evening and enjoyed them more than stage shows which were generally too loud for my taste. it’s interesting that this question came up, because I was just explaining to a friends that there’s a difference between the kind of cruising I enjoy and the “vacation mode” cruising most passengers do. I like to feel that I am living on the ship and it, rather than the ports, is my destination.
