  1. Best jewelry shop in Mexico is Alberto;s Their original store is in PV but have a store in Cozumel on the street down from the ferry pier. Also one in Zihuatengo MX. I have bought some unique rings from them.
  2. Thanks for your posts about your crossing. My friends are on the Viking Sky currently heading from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale. They too said it is warm in the mid 70's. They are loving each and every sea day. On my last cruise in June, I too craved some salty potato chips. None board except those Pringles which was not what I had in mind. Yes,,next Viking cruise I will pick up some chips before I get on board.
  3. "An excellent “excursion” ok can’t remember the silly lingo in Guadeloupe - the Death in Paradise tour. We even saw Neville and he waved to us but I was too slow with the camera 😂😂 But plenty time at the Police Station " Oh how fun!!!! I love watching Death in Paradise on my public tv station. Great pictures.
  4. Thank you so much for your reflections on your great TA. Enjoy all those lovely sea days. Keep the post coming. 👍🏻
  5. Part of the post extension includes transfer to airport. We also booked our own air for June 2023 cruise. We did the Viking post extension in a very nice hotel in Copenhagen. We got the included transfer to an airport. A group of us were to get on a bus at 9:30 am. The bus did not come so the Viking rep got cabs for us , were was 9 of us leaving at the same time. What city were you in for your post extension? We plan to do the same thing for our Athens cruise in early 2025: our own air and have the Viking post extension.
  6. Yea! After Charla great report, I can now have yours to read each day . I so enjoy being a virtual traveller with you and Iain on your new adventure to parts of the world I always find exotic .
  7. Joust heard from my friends who are on your TA on Viking Sky. They are having a great time. Lots of solos on board. I had to wait for the first day on board to set up a meet and greet with my roll call with the General manger. Never heard back from any email I had sent before hand. I went to Guest relations and let them know I had names and room numbers. It worked. I also did a simple m+ g informally right after sailaway too. My cruise in June had no sea days. Hope you post a semi live report on this forum Clay when you start your WC. So looking forward to being a armchair guest as you sail half way around the world.
  8. As others have said, once you are on the ship you can make reservations etc. on a phone app VV you have downloaded or on your tv in your stateroom or go to guest relations or various dining rooms to make reservations. I take it you are on a Viking ship but do not have a cell phone, correct?
  9. Thank you so much for doing a live trip report. Your picture are great. The food looks so delicious. Love Key West. Want to return. I have a lovely coin I bought from the museum with the artifacts of a sunken ship.Cannot remember the name at the moment.
  10. My very first Viking cruise was a TA from Puerto Rico to Barcelona in late March years ago . You will love it !!!’ Six sea days in a row and yes use the Nordic Spa and all it offers It is fre. My two close friends are The Viking sky TA that leaves today from Barcelona ! Two days before a great sale in Sept I bought new living room furniture 😊 so I am at home waiting for their photos not on the cruise ‼️
  11. LOL, yes I hate autocorrect too. 😂🍷
  12. LOL, when I first read your post, I thought you are going on an Arctic or Antarctica cruise and bring your choppers. But I thought it strange you wanted a bowel. Choopers, in our next of the woods, are two layer mittens. Inside layer of wool and the outer layer, water resistant tough leather looking outer mitten. All my brothers used them in winter and definitely when playing outdoor hockey in the 60's 70's. Oh you meant :dentures=choppers.😁
  13. InsGuy3, How are the excursions? What are some of the activities for guests on a sea day? It seems like your informative trip report has devolved into a comparison among some posters many of which have not been on board yet, about other cruise lines. . So sorry that this has happened to your thread.
  14. I always love reading your trip reports. Thanks for stopping by the virtual Explorer Lounge. It has been along week and just relaxing now with a nice dry martini. I now have your trip report to read.🎉 Better than the news on cable this evening. Cheers! Patti
  15. We are booked on the Gk Odyssey cruise for Feb 2025. it does have one sea day. We are so looking forward to it. My sister has never been to Greece. I have been there three different times on a cruise. Our last cruise was Scenic Scandinavia in June 2023 with zero sea days. The Met rebroadcast was on a TA a number of years ago, and on one of our pandemic cruises in 2021. They were scheduled in the late afternoon on sea day. It was posted in the Daily. I can see when a cruise has no sea days they would not offer it.Or they do not have this offering anymore?
  16. Sea days are welcome after a rigorous day of excursions You can sleep late. have breakfast at Mamsens in the Explorer lounge. Attend a couple of lectures, or go to a movie , or a Met opera rebroadcast in the theater. Play some of the interactive game console on deck three overlooking the atrium, go to spa and relax in the heated pool , sauna, steam room etc. Or book a massage. Enjoy afternoon tea in the Wintergarden. Have lunch and if nice eat outside in Aquavit terrace or lunch at the pool grill. Play trivia, read a book picked from any of the numerous book cases throughout the ship. Take a tour of the art work on the ship with the audio guide found on the Viking app.Visit the small Viking museum on board. Take a nap, watch a movie or lectures you have missed in your stateroom. Have a glass of wine . with a cheese plate ordered from room service, on your balcony and watch the ocean roll by. Do your laundry, and have a expresso in the Living room Bar while your clothes wash and dry, leisurely get ready for cocktail hour and dinner. Go to the evening show in theater and not fall asleep.
  17. When you had your church bell ringing moment , eating lunch in Italy, that is the reason to travel . Savor that experience and years later you can remember as if it was today. What a wonderful journey you two have upon. I too always look for a cafe down an alley at least two blocks off any tourist street. Found local ones in Rhodes, Corsica, Rome and Barcelona , some of my most memorable lunches.
  18. One of the most engaging trip reports here on CC. Your descriptive writing style reminds me of Graham Greene . I will never sail on a Silversea cruise, but will look forward to your future reports here on CC. Thank you
  19. Now that is a great Italian Lunch ! My mouth is watering ! I love love Italian wines of all kinds .

    Pricing

I like booking a cruise while on a Viking Ship. Love the. discounts offered which lowers the cruise price, and best of all final payment 6months before cruise. One can also move your booking to another future cruise if before final payment. I do know Viking does offer sales if some cruises have low occupancy a few months in advance of the sailing. But like others , once I book a cruise I never look at the price of my cruise again. Same with my airline tickets.
  21. Clay, When I was on my cruise in June. I brought Paxlovid and a bunch of COVID tests with me. May of the cruisers I met on board said they had self tests with them and would just self quaratine if they tested positive. I had COVID in Feb 2023 and had a script and got Paxlovid, but did not end up taking it. My neighbor , a nurse said it can work up to 5 days after you test positive. My symptoms were terrible headache, sinus dripping, tiredness but no cough. I was fine after three days. I would urge you and Mike to get a script and take it with you just in case.
  22. Congratulation on your first Viking cruise. I saw more younger couples in their 30' and 40's on my June 2023 cruise "Scenic Scandinavia". There were demanding hiking excursion, kayaking, bike tours that were sold out. One group even rented 6 bikes on island of Bornholm that were delivered to the pier. Off they went to explore for the day as we just walked into town. I wished I had begun cruising when I was younger and could do these more demanding tours. I keep to the moderate or easy excursions which are walking tours in various European ports.
  23. Now you love Greece too plus Roma. When I was there for an excursion on Crete, we sampled Ouzo at a winery where they made it. Guide told us they had men's versions and woman's version. It is used for toasts when at a party, baptism, wedding and even after funerals. I see your cruise is turning into LOVE CRUISE🥰 which is marvelous.🥳 Cruising in Europe is totally different in in the Caribbean. In Europe it is all about the posts and excursions, history , food and people you meet.
  24. Of course ,silly me, you are only a couple of days into your cruise. I was just on the Explora web site and scrolling through their dinning and lounges on board and thought I would ask current cruisers. Thanks you for taking time to respond. Look forward to future posts of your experience of the cruise.
