  1. Believe you are looking at what is really two 7 day cruises. Try booking as two 7 day cruises. There probably will be cabins available. I always book b2bs in this manner. Provides additional flexibility with very little, if any, penalties. It may actually be a better deal.
  2. It's possible to do some swimming. In Alaska the pools should not be overcrowded. The pools are really more for just hanging or moving around and not really for laps. If you really want aerobic exercise probably better to walk or run on the deck 18 track. I remember it being 7 laps/mile, but my memory may be off a little. There may also be a no charge Zumba like session each day. Check out the activity listings.
  3. I think this post is referencing RC, not Princess. Princess' buffets remain open until later in the evening.
  4. On Princess sometimes I head to the buffet for a late evening snack. It may close around 11pm. Not actually certain other than I have gone there. The International Cafe which serves a variety of foods and desserts is open 24/7 and it's right next to a bar.
  5. Clear cabin by 8am. You shouldn't linger much longer than that. Cabins have to be turned around for embarking passengers. Last debark call normally around 9:30am. Ship must be totally cleared of passengers before any new passengers can board. DR open for breakfast usually from 6am to around 8:30.
  6. You have time. Renew your passport. Don't try to take a shortcut. It's not Princess. It's the countries you are visiting. If something happens you can't easily fly home.
  7. There is shade there, under the palms. But those lounges go very quickly. It seems you are on the Sun Princess. Lots of passengers, 4,000+. I have experience with 2,600 and 3,100 passenger ships and with those Princess Cays is crowded. You would have to be one of the first to arrive. If you are elite loyalty or in a full suite you have tender priority. If not, you just have to follow the directions provided. I really don't know how the Sun does or will handle tenders at Princess Cays. You probably should keep checking. If unsuccessful pre-cruise try at the excursion desk as soon as they open. I'll mention what I have done. I remain on board. The ship isn't crowded and it is very enjoyable without the crowds. The food venues that are normally open during the day remain open as do the bars.
  8. I don't really know how you booked you cruise, but have a hunch you might have some success if you work through a TA or PVP.
  9. Take a look at this recent post. The ship originally built for the Asia market is changing venues for the west.
  10. Some thoughts. Have you worked with a TA to try to book two connecting cabins? With most balcony cabins you can open the balcony divider and allow connection in that manner. For Princess to get involved to move the occupant next door they would most likely have to offer something like an upgrade, OBC, or something else. I know if it was me I would ask for some benefit. It seems like a long shot that Princess will do this. A TA might be able to work this out.
  11. Princess docks in Brooklyn. Probably less expensive for two for flights out of JFK or Laguardia. I would question if Uber is less expensive for flights out of Newark. Can Uber transport between States? I don't know.
  12. You will wait at the airport for the Princess transfer. The Princess rep. in the luggage area may not be there for a few hours after your plane lands. The last passengers disembark somewhere around 9:30 to 10am. Somewhere in that time frame new passengers are permitted into the terminal, through security and check in. Those passengers then go to the boarding area and wait. Boarding may begin as early as 10:30, but usually around 11am. If you take a private transfer to the pier you will sit outside until you are allowed into the terminal. If you are at pier 2 there is a bench along the wall, no other seats. If you are at another pier, I don't know if there is any seating. If your ship is the only Princess ship departing from FL that day then you can assume that it will be at pier 2. Another thing. I don't remember if there are any restrooms outside the terminal. I remember them all being in the boarding area. The pier is a 20 minute ride from the airport.
  13. As long as the individual has their medallion with them they are easy to locate. As mentioned in post #3 once individuals are linked you can just tap your medallion on one of the large screens around the ship. You don't have to carry your phone or use the app. It's very easy. If you have any difficulty just ask one of the tech crew on board. They have a desk.
  14. You mention ocean view cabins. Check out the obstructed view balcony cabins on deck 8. They are a nice alternative to ocean view cabins. Laundry. Princess ships have self service laundries on each passenger deck. $3 each wash & dry. Dryer sheets, detergent is available at a small cost or you can bring your own. No chare for irons. There are no free happy hours on Princess no matter what your loyalty level. With the standard fare you pay for each drink. Plus & Premier fares/packages you are allowed up to 15 alcoholic beverages per day menu priced $15 or less for the plus fare and $29 or less for the premier fare. You also have unlimited non alcoholic beverages such as specialty coffees, sodas, and so on. Without any package, standard fare, juices are no charge in the DRs and buffet at breakfast. Ice tea, lemonade, regular/decaf Lavazza coffee, hot teas available in the DRs when open and all day in the buffet. The buffet, World Fresh Marketplace, is open from around 6am until late evening maybe around 11pm. While some sections change their offerings the buffet is always open during that time. The International Cafe is open 24/7. It has cont.; breakfast items and then switches for lunch, afternoon and evening items and desserts. There is no charge for food items. If you are into dining experiences such as chef's table and others these are also available. There are a limited number of seats. Theater shows are all walk in. No reservations. Arrive between 30 to 45 minutes early for production shows, 30 minutes early for guest entertainers. Normally two shows per evening, something like 7:30 & 9:30, but times can change.
  15. Check out the plus fare and premier fares. In my case the plus fare works out to breakeven if I have about 3 alcoholic beverages/day. majestic Princess does not have all the rock walls, surf pools and other youth oriented stuff. If you sail while youth are in school, not Easter weeks, there will not be many youth on board. If you sail during these dates you may hit youth. These youth will congregate at the main Lido deck pool as well as the Hollywood Pool indoor pool. The Majestic does not have a walking promenade deck. Dining, there are three general evening MDR options, a) anytime dining, b) traditional dining with set times and set table, c) reserved dining where you reserve a dining time for each each evening on the app. That time can be different each evening or you can choose the same time for the entire cruise. If you book a full suite or a reserve class mini suite then your dining is in a special section of the DR. It's walk up anytime the DR is open with prompt seating and much improved service. DRs are open for breakfast and dinner each day and lunch on sea days. One DR is also open for lunch on boarding day. Specialty Dining. These have a surcharge. If booked in advance on line your credit card will be charged at the time of booking. Excursions when booked on line your credit card is charged. However, if you have OBC it can be applied to these excursion bookings. If you are a vet search Princess military benefit. There is OBC available. If you own at least 100 shares of Carnival stock look up Carnival Shareholder's Benefit for OBC.
  16. This is because you are purchasing in international waters where there is no Federal alcohol tax which is $13.50 per proof gallon for spirits. There are also no State and local taxes. In the poster's case if purchased in Alaska there will be Federal taxes. There will also be some State taxes. The ship does not sail in international waters.
  17. There will be an announcement as to when gang planks are open. There will be no immigration procedures at these ports. It's just a matter of setting the gangplanks and port security in place. So maybe half hour, 45 minutes after the ship actually ties up.
  18. Arrive anytime between around 9:30 and 1pm. Personally I don't let any crowds bother me. Cabins may not be ready until sometime after noon. You may or may not be able to drop stuff off in the cabin. Depends on the ship' practice.
  19. Interesting. Being July and Alaska I would have thought that both routes would have a similar number of youth. I can't think of any real reason otherwise. I can only speculate: -more demand for the cruisetour pre-cruise followed by the southbound voyage. -Better fares for families on the southbound voyage
  20. I wish to add for the OP that I am assuming you are from the U.S. If you are from Canada or another country then you have to go by those import regulations.
  21. All shops are closed on board while in port. Is there duty/tax free shopping in Alaska waters? I'm thinking no. But there might be once the ship is in Canada waters. If there is, each adult is allowed to import 1 liter of alcoholic beverage with no charge. The big savings on alcoholic beverages is the Federal Alcohol Tax. If you are flying home bottles of whisky have to be packed in luggage. Not something I think is very practical. The only time I purchased alcohol was when I was driving to the port. I don't know very much about cigarettes. Believe the limit is 1 carton, 200 cigarettes, per adult. Sales? Not really. I have been on some cruises where the on board shop is trying to unload a few bottles that have not sold. Other than that it's usually the price as shown on their on board price list. To find out if you should purchase on board or in port, compare the costs once on board. Alaska is a U.S. State. They will have the same federal taxes on cigarettes and alcohol as any other U.S. State plus local and State sales taxes. There are "sales" every day if you really want to call them sales. Mostly Tees, hats, jewelry, things like that. Pay attention to the costs and quality, not to how much the items may be fictitiously reduced. There are some nice items in the on board shops. The real bargain comes from using up your OBC, so no real cost to you.
  22. I looked up the 2026 Sapphire cruises from Copenhagen. The itinerary indicates that Boston is the first U.S. port. In that case you will have to be processed through immigration after you retrieve your luggage. There is no way to know for sure how quickly the process will go. In Ft. Lauderdale Princess used facial recognition for immigration. Only a few were actually referred to an immigration official. I don't know if Princess has or will have this technology on the Sapphire.
  23. It's difficult to determine how long you will wait. The busses arrive from San Pedro with disembarking passengers. When full they head back to San Pedro. I always take private transport.
  24. You are fine Look for the Princess agent in the luggage pick up area
  25. I have read on these boards that others have done just what you are thinking about. You have to apply for and receive a route deviation in writing from Princess. You will also have to arrange transport from leHarve to Paris which is a 3 hour trip. If for some reason the ship misses the port then, of course, you will have to disembark in Southampton.
