  1. The cabanas on the Mexico run are not sunny if that matters to you. I would avoid deck 7 due to the sky zone and the groups of young teens hanging there due to noise.
  2. If you're walking around before boarding in that part of Norfolk hold your wallet/handbag securely. Cars parked at the lot suggested by Carnival just 3 blocks from the terminal on Monticello Ave were regularly being broken in to until the city made the lot owner provide 24 hrs security. You should be able to check in your luggage with a porter at the terminal and return closer to sail away time but be back at least one hour before sail away. 2 hours prior to sailing is better still. Suggest you pick a site now you want to visit and Uber there roundtrip.
  3. This was true on our August 29th Radiance sailing. We went first to Shaq's for a sandwich and there was one person ahead of us waiting to order. Then we went to the buffet when it was less crowded for some of their excellent ribs. The buffet ribs were better than the offerings at Pig and Anchor, tbh.
  4. If you've told Carnival they're not coming they will not have the port fees and taxes paid retuned to them.
  5. I was moved to this cabin by Carnival because my 1A category cabin with 2 port holes won't be in service that week. There was no extra charge. Once on a Fantasy Class ship I had an interior under a galley and the occasional early morning thumps from the overhead were more felt than heard. If this is anything like that I'm sure I'll be fine. Thank you for sharing your experience.
  6. Does anyone know if the noise is any more or less noisy than usual on a Dream Class ship near cove cabin 2400? Thank you!
  7. Not many notice but the logo uniformed crew working Guys and the Blue Iguana Cantina are also lido and MDR food servers. That same crew member setting up Guys and flipping burgers for 5 hours can later be seen in the evening working as assistant team server in the MDR. I spoke with a server I knew from Guys on the Panorama two weeks ago who's now on Radiance and he served me afternoon tea and he was pushing the dessert trolley around the dining room.
  8. The quality at Christmas is better than Thanksgiving but the portions smaller.
  9. If it was all that much of a favorite the name of the item would be memorable, I should think.
  10. I can't recall a time when you've written so dismissively of the food on Carnival.
  11. Arnold Donald read this and slapped his forehead and exclaimed: ' why didn't I think of this? I'd still have my job! '
  12. Only to take the pressure off the lido buffet staff.
  13. This is Carnival's math on the brunch: Limited menu + limited hours = fewer guests attending = Zero Brunch due to lack of guest attendance.
  14. Turkey bacon and corned beef hash have been sides on the brunch menu since its inception. Our biggest disappointment has been the substituting of the same lousy strip loin served at dinner as the "steak" for steak and eggs instead of the excellent and always delicious petite filet mignon. Sad, very sad.
  15. That sounds like a memorable holiday evening idea.
  16. The pressed turkey is like this: This wasn't a hard decision for us after our first Thanksgiving on Carnival. We look forward to Thanksgiving with Carnival now knowing how good the bird is in lido.
  17. Whole roast turkey is carved in the buffet in the evening on Thanksgiving. Pressed turkey is served at the plated sit down in the MDR. We prefer the real deal so opt for a casual Thanksgiving in the lido and practically have the whole place to ourselves every time.
  18. At day 16 we can select our arrival time to the pier. Boarding time depends on many factors, e.g. the ship was cleared late by customs, ship was late arriving, etc.
  19. Seaman11 - Gelato or ice cream, please? If there are no swirl soft serve ice cream machines and only yogurt dispensing machines that would be an odd cutback.
  20. Have you been on a Vista Class ship and may be thinking of the frozen churned gelato served in the lido buffet at lunch each day?
  21. FYI, this is from no canned email. It is the new language on the passenger contract we are required to sign. I started a topic on this about 10 days ago here.
  22. Spittle from our used cups remains on the rim and when we place the used cup against the plate that releases ice the spittle can transfer to the machine and then to the cup of the next person to use the machine. Swab tests taken by USPHS inspectors during their ship inspections of norovirus outbreaks demonstrated this to be so.
  23. Twice I've stayed forward on deck 5 on Spirit. No, there is no guest access to outside.
  24. There will be a table for 8-10 people set aside at the regularly scheduled tea for vets at the event we are discussing.
