How much better is Luminae than Blu?
Cruise a holic replied to Coarsegold_Mom's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Have done both. Luminae so much better. Service 5 star. In AQ tables on the Edge in the middle of a hallway- many tables very noisy with people looking in. The suite lounge on the edge is wonderful, as well as the suite deck. Not a fan of the AQ perks. If we cannot do a suite, we book a well located balcony cabin and dine in speciality restaurants with the savings. The AQ cabins are the same as balcony cabins- with a few of the AQ perks which we don't use at all. -

Experience with dry cleaning
Cruise a holic replied to Marga.Anders's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Have done laundry and dry cleaning on board. Never any problems. I think pricey of course. We get some free laundry. I never put anything that I would hand wash in the laundry and limit my laundry to pj's, underware and inexpensive tee shirts. The dry cleaning is as good as home. -
Honestly, while we sail in suites, last time we went to labaee we were bitten by sand flies at barefoot beach. Remember to bring bug spray- necessary!

If you are in a cabana or the beach club, no need to bring towels or worry about returning-

Nothing like cococay. Food choices and venues not the same- much better on cococay- but nice day at labadee- Haven't been their in two years- perhaps nicer now Will be going in August.

RoyalUP? (Bid for stateroom upgrade)
Cruise a holic replied to John&LaLa's topic in Royal Caribbean International
IMO what you had was a better choice! -
We enjoy sea days- very relaxing. Get up , enjoy coffee then slip on swim suit. Go for breakfast. Then typically settle down at a comfortable, shady location by the pool. We enjoy a quiet hot tub and pool, especially early when many people are sleeping. Depending upon the ship, lunch at a nice venue- in the afternoon, back to the pool The evening perhaps spa services, including hair blow out- during the early evening the martini bar. Then dinner and show- we also enjoy trivia and just strolling around the ship and looking in the stores. We vary our day depending on the activities offered. But mostly enjoy just relaxing.

Retreat pricing for next year is absolutely absurd
Cruise a holic replied to FiremedicMike151's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We agree that the pricing is out of control. Same with sister Royal. This is so evident for suites, but once you are used to suite service and amenities hard to consider a regular cabin. Even with the cuts. We enjoyed four cruises a year, but will cut to three, and if necessary two and a land vacation at an excellent AI. -
Royal up - question -
Cruise a holic replied to question221's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Ships seem to be sailing full- over capacity. However if you are sailing during an off peak week, you might be lucky. A crown loft suite is wonderful. Try to bid. If you liked the upgrade on the Enchantment, the Crown loft and the ship will "knock your socks off". No comparison! -

Adventure of the Seas Room Help
Cruise a holic replied to GTO-Girl's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I wouldn't suggest a promenade room. The noise might be very annoying especially if you like to go to bed before 11PM. Best to get a mid ship balcony cabin with cabins above and below. On the Oasis class ships, a central park view is both cost effective and quiet. The adventure, an old ship, doesn't have a central park. We originally booked a balcony on that ship, but upgraded with a bid to a junior suite. Made a big difference. So much more comfortable. I understand people say we don't spend much time in our cabin, but you would be surprised what a difference it makes to be in a larger, more comfortable cabin. -
We like the all included package. Easy. Like that tipping ,drinks and internet are included. We have a large family, and enjoy hearing from them and sharing facetime with them while on the cruise. While we do not drink many alcoholic drinks, we enjoy speciality coffee, soda and speciality waters throughout the cruise. It works best for us- no worries about bills for those things and nice to not have another bill at the end of the cruise.

I know- acknowledged this a few posts up

Sorry. Comparing ncl to royal. But bottom line really enjoy royal oasis class and celebrity the best!!

We had a sewer smell experience on the Oasis of the Seas, crown loft suite , lower level bathroom. It was never completely resolved. We did complain but it continued. I know that cabin attendant said he treated it a few times, but it never resolved. Also complained to concierge

No comparison. A grand suite on the Oasis class and above, give you access to the suite lounge, deck and restaurant- That is so worth it.

I strongly disagree with the OP. We sail mostly or RC- Oasis class, and Celebrity ships. NCL Was very disappointing and we sailed in the haven. The food outside of the Haven was very disappointing- even the specialty restaurants were olive garden cuisine. If you left the Haven to go to public spaces, felt like steerage. The pool was so crowded that people didn't have any chairs and were lying with towels on the floor. The layout of the ship poorly designed as they had no real theatre so people sat in the center of the ship for many events. Never again. We will stick to Royal and Celebrity. The newer the ship IMO the better.

Can you pick your seats on Celebrity flights?
Cruise a holic replied to tallyho8's topic in Celebrity Cruises
After the cruise is booked with the flight, we go to the Delta website, as we typically fly Delta, and pick our seats. Never paid a charge . I assume if you upgrade from coach to first class you pay additional- we book first class and never paid anything additional. We book our seats a day or two after we make the reservation. -
We just got off to oasis last weekend. Funny we booked a balcony for next summer on the symphony on the second day of the cruise. Typically we like suites but the rate was very high. But after a couple more days we decided to upgrade to a suite. The fare increaed over $500! We were stuck as we wanted the suite. I have been watching the fares as i hope with a Labor Day or nlack friday sale the fare will decrease! So i learned an important lesson! Book then research

Nice for me for about 10 minutes on a sea day- However since the cruise ships are now so full, probably not easy to get a warm chair-

Always have my hair blown at least once per cruise. Never had color or cut as I prefer my hair dresser. The blow outs have been on a scale on 1-7. Never great, sometimes horrible. Once I was so unhappy that I complained and got my money back. Most times I smile and say thank you. But they wash my hair and I typically I fix myself in my cabin/suite. The products they use have been okay. I wouldn't trust them to cut and color.
