  1. Way back there were not many balcony classes. Afts were popular and they figured out they could charge more for them. Then all sorts of sub categories. We've sailed aft several times, up high. Seas never really an issue. Noise can be though. You could be under an aft outside dining area, above a theater or lounge, noise and movement from pods, props, or side thrusters.
  2. Not sure, but by end of day we are expecting a full picture folio of the situation from you.
  3. Escape generally gets good reviews. We sailed pre shutdown on Escape and it was a good experience. The feedback on Star does not surprise me based on other reports here. It's been a long time since we sailed Star twice but those were both good too. A couple minor service issues. I'd probably book the Star if the route and price were right.
  4. Been eight times and never an envelope.
  5. Booked DM in YC once recently at zero supplement. Low season.
  6. I don't recall that menu and we were sailing at the time. Quite extensive. I don't have any pics from then but also not the curator of The Smithsonian East. I do recall when Specialties were like $10 cover, half for kids, never busy. 'To Stimulate Your Palate' apparently has been replaced with 'To Fleece Your Wallet'.
  7. There is not one outside. Usually a table with juice, water, light snacks by pool. We were on BA long time ago and while they had pool servers, service was not very good.
  8. Right on. We've enjoyed them on Star, Dawn, and Gem. Miss it on other ships and lines. One thing I don't like and never seen is corn in the egg drop soup. Of all things consistent across the fleet, corn in the soup is one.
  9. Never needed a mattress topper. Coffee machines are there already. Ice, no matter how much this has been asked by us, never as much as we'd like. Once we did have a butler on Spirit understand and actually had an igloo in room stocked with ice at all times. Have always had plenty of coffee and tea. All items mentioned can be asked of the butler once onboard. Of course, results may vary.
  10. Sounds pretty much like our Prima experience on early sailing. Nothing has changed. I would have stuck to Haven restaurant more though. Quite good. Even skipped Cagney's yet again. Plus you can order room service from there.
  11. Ok, so we had the semi live niece cruise. To one up, SIL just got off BA, well, maybe not a one up. No semi live, just news after done. Her friend booked and did details. Mid ship balcony in good location. Not sure if any packages included for free, cough cough. Was not asked nor did provide consulting services. Third hand account from first time cruiser, one and done. Liked Belize. Turn off was a charge for everything around each corner.
  12. Not sure what cost has to do with it. If teen is third or fourth pax as those usually big discount. Summer plenty of kids. As suggested, register first day at club and have them go first night.
  13. Check the excursion site that starts with V or ports of call here.
  14. We had an overnight there in late 2022. Got there early due to missing a port. We didn't have anything planned first day because of early arrival. Socialite DW met a couple folks at the Local who had been there before. He said he'd walk us into town. Was a group of about twenty of us who walked to Leif Erikson, not to be confused with Leif Garrett, church. It was a hike but our guide was entertaining. No tip given though. We then peeled off so DW and DD could shop. Took taxi back to ship. Note they docked where you either took a two minute bus ride to a shop for release or you could walk to shop along a path. Since there were never many cabs in that area our cab was mobbed by those waiting and I felt like Leif Garrett, err, Erikson. One of those. Second day we had trip booked thru company starting with 'V'. Great and not too pricey. Had like a 30 seater bus. MKing, you going late April? If so, enough time to get base station and grow ops ready or are they already on standby? Must be selling well as inside $4,000 and Haven cheapest over $20,000 up to $35,000. I can't sail and sustain at home at those prices. OP, welcome to CC.
  15. Heck, they even took previous Dawn Class and Jewel class suites and Havens and added capacity from two to four for many rooms on each ship around 2011.
  16. Welcome to CC. Other than San Juan, not seeing any other islands listed
  17. Last sailing we were in Haven with fas. One morning ordered coke zero in Haven restaurant. Asked if I wanted can or fountain. Said can. Told cans are extra charge.
  18. I didn't say just for data mining.
  19. And BC has tables in atrium upstairs. Yes, people can walk through. Generally not a big deal.
  20. It is different on MSC. First, the dsc isn't hyper inflated. MSC butlers and asst do room stuff plus escorts, sounds funny, works great to places. Plus many butlers work lounge, there are pool assts who can be from doing nothing to bringing drinks. Bar staff by pool and in lounge, restaurant staff although you may get bounced around where you sit. You interact with many more people than NCL. We tip extra and just play it by ear who went above. Forgot to mention that pizza is very good and order for room service. If you like football they have it on TV on the channels at the end of the list. Looked like every game that day. Rest of TV cut way back. Like food channel and the one with home demo plus a couple news.
  21. We've sailed Mera YC four times since restart in YC. First three quite good, last not so much mainly due to YC food variety and quality. Best Diamond benefit is meal at BC. They have an always available menu which includes a filet which was great in the past and my go to but last trip only three out of seven any good. Rest were rubber. If you like a high in seafood and lamb chops, you are good. BC and Hola's open some days for lunch. Hola's is $17 and quite good. Most drinks included with your package. Book reservations ahead of time as despite the restaurants maybe being empty, they don't seem to take last minute. The pool has food, some quite good during the day depending on the weather. Even filets up there but same poor quality. Dinner seating is interesting. Seems overly busy and like they are doing you a favor getting you a seat. If you like wines, tons there. Any other drink, bring your own. You have spa access. Make reservation. Staff generally much better than NCL.
