  1. Question....when your butler was MIA....did the other butlers do his job (for whatever you needed)?
  2. We were on NCL Escape last month.....it was the same thing. Awful.....
  3. @Captain-JohnWe had the pizza delivered to the pool deck....that and coke. For me, that pool deck is my favorite place to eat!
  4. I don't care what the brand it.....another perk of YC is that you can walk all around the ship and get a fresh bottle of water at any bar. A bottle...not a glass.......
  5. The butler does "too much".....escorts you everywhere so you "skip the lines", brings you pizza on the pool deck, delivers your drinks wherever you are, makes sure you're happy (if request is within reason). I never sailed on NCL Haven...but I've heard people complain about "not seeing the butler" or "the butler wasn't good". I don't think that happens in the YC....because if your butler isn't available...another one steps in. They operate as a team.
  6. Here's my 2 cents. I book balcony if I think I'd get use out of it....or if the price is good. A balcony on a TA from NY in April...completely irrational. I'd take that $2500 and get me a nice Italian bauble! Or, some other Italian luxury good...something she can't get here. Even if she could get it here....it's a souvenir that she can always look back at. If you have the money to burn....burn it on a momento of your trip. (Personal note: DH always buys me a piece of jewelry, even if I don't want it...so I can have the memory of the trip.)
  7. You're forgetting....YC also has "the grill" for breakfast and lunch!
  8. @mscdivina2016Sounds to me like someone is missing the Yacht Club
  9. @Haljo1935Thanks for the review...and the info I requested. As to debarkation and shuttles...NOTHING was running yesterday morning. We had the worst rainfall in the history of NY'C..... Without knowing the specific facts...JFK is in a low lying area, the Belt Parkway/Van Wyck always floods. https://www.foxweather.com/weather-news/new-york-new-jersey-east-coast-flood-rain-friday
  10. We generally just take one carry-on each and get the laundry perk on NCL. Our upcoming April cruise is for 11 nights..with no laundry included....so I'm thinking DH can take his carryon and I'll take something a little larger. Since we can drop off the luggage at the YC tent, I'm not worried about it getting lost. However, for disembarkation, where did they put the luggage? Separate YC area?
  11. I have NO idea how they are going to enforce this surcharge......and I'd think if you're on the FDR you would bypass it anyway....as you won't be on the streets. When we came home the Uber took less than 30 minutesI (maybe more like 20 minutes) to get to East 96th. It really didn't cost us much more in time or money than getting to the West Side. You really gotta join us converts.......
  12. Been following those sailings....interiors on Deck 16 are gone already! DH and I were discussing Haven (never been, never will be) vs YC...and just the simple things: Take a sea day in Haven. If you don't want to go on shore, where do you eat lunch? (I think Haven restaurant is closed.) Take a sea day in YC. If you don't want to go on shore, you have the YC restaurant, the YC buffet on the pool deck...and pizza delivery by the butler! Basically...you have a private yacht. He think NCL better re-evaluate if they want to compete. Forgot to mention....if you're in the YC...you can also go to the thermal spa if you stay on board....no extra charge!
  13. Any comments about the theatre....not so much the entertainers....but wait times to enter and seating?
  14. But, I have to say, your theatre report disappointed me. I'm not that picky about "what's on the stage"....doesn't have to be b'way caliber....but having a seat would be nice!
  15. Hi...my husband and I will be on this sailing. We are a retired couple from Manhattan......first time on this ship! It's a 15 minute cab ride for us to the pier.
  16. @AFS1970 @Haljo1935 Thanks for the reports! Yes, most likely, unlesss something unforeseen comes up, we'll be on this ship in Jan. As I said earlier...I'll bring along a tray for added convenience.............
  17. And probably the most expensive frozen hot chocolate ever. But that (don't know if it's still there) was more of an expensive hang out for rich locals and private school kids.
  18. After careful consideration and postponing cancellation....right now it's a go. I haven't heard more complaints about slippery floors...but when you're warned, you're more careful. @Old Fart CruisersThanks for the tray idea. I'm gonna look for one.
  19. "Ellen's" has been around forever....a real tourist trap. But the lines are long....all the way down the block, as far as the eye can see.
  20. Since we are on the subject: I have items in my cart. I would like to use credit card points to pay. How do I do this? On checkout, it gives me the option to use obc. If I enter my carnival card info (I didn't try this yet...don't want to mess things up)....will it give me the option to use points? Or, if not....how is it done?
  21. Everything's gone up post pandemic....and sizes/service has gone down. Why should a cruilseline be different? Pay more, less service, cutbacks....... I'm a value shopper....want the most for my buck. I may be finished with NCL because I found greener pastures. I'm also finished with most of my local restaurants....higher prices, slower service, smaller portions. That's just the way it is. IMHO....you're paying with a devalued currency. What you got for $$ in 2019, now costs "$$$ new dollars".
  22. A picture of what.....what guest services said? As long as you confirm...that's good enuf for me! Enjoy your last night on board.
  23. @JIMESOPUSGlad I can say "I told you so" about YC. Question: Guest services said you can apply the deposit from a canceled to to another one. Was that person talking about YC? If true, good to know....
