  1. If he just gets off the ship, and tells nobody, then when he gets to the airport, exit Immigrations is going to have a GREAT day, while your husband is having a bad day. Usually, you have to show an entrance stamp to be allowed to exit a country. Tell GS when you first board so they can arrange an Immigrations officer to meet him when he disembarks in Cozumel.
  2. Started researching our trip to London about 6 months prior to flights opening for miles purchase. I knew BA was my option since I was using my AS miles. Business or better was my requirement. BA Club Suite a minimum standard. (At that time), that meant A350 or 787X. During my years of business travel, I had the pleasure of riding in all 7XX Boeing aircraft. So, let's experience the A350 on my outbound route. Flights purchased for our September flight. Our return, I selected an A380. Have never flown on one and since it was only 10K miles more, we get to experience sitting in the front, along with the Concord Lounge at LHR. To my slight disappointment. I'm sure, for operational reasons, BA has pulled the A350 and replaced it with a 777. At least this aircraft has received it's upgraded seating to include the Club Suite. So, that's good news. No change in seat assignments. Guess I'll just have to take another long haul in the future to experience the 350.
  3. Are they magnetic? I would hope not. Can you just imagine walking by the door and your jewelry flying off and attaching to the door. Or, what about piercings? Ouch. Now, are the doors made of a material that one could attach a magnet to? Yes, I believe so.
  4. I can write my name in the snow! (sarcasm) This has now turned into a peeing contest. Or, the proverbial "I'm more right than you are." status
  5. I've had this exact same question for a cruise because one government website says a passport is required and another indicates maybe. I have been on cruises with both Royal and with Carnival with stops in Honduras and the answer is NO, you did not need a passport with these 2 cruise lines. Having said that, I would still highly recommend a passport for any international travel.
  6. If I remember correctly from a former chief engineer who comes on these board at times, the problem has something to do with ceramic heating elements and how they won't work on shipboard electrical systems. I believe one of the manufacturers was Dyson. But the commonality was the heating element.
  7. I asked ChatGBT the following question: What does it say about social norms when people only worry about themselves and not others. ChatGBT's response: When people prioritize their own interests and concerns over the well-being of others, it suggests that the social norm of individualism is strong in that society. This type of individualistic mindset can lead to a lack of consideration for the impact one's actions have on others and a disregard for the common good. However, this is not to say that all individuals are solely self-interested. Many people also value the welfare of others and have a sense of responsibility to contribute to the well-being of their communities. The strength and influence of social norms can vary from one society to another and can change over time. It is important for societies to promote and nurture social norms that prioritize the common good and encourage individuals to act with empathy and consideration for others. This can help to create a more cooperative, supportive, and inclusive society where everyone's needs are taken into account.
  8. Google is a wonderful tool. What does PCV vaccine for? Vaccines help prevent pneumococcal disease, which is any type of illness caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. There are two kinds of pneumococcal vaccines available in the United States: Pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCV13, PCV15, and PCV20)
  9. Price your flights departing from Canada. So, for S&G price Toronto to Bangkok and see what you come up with. Price various cities. I was headed to Africa a few years back. Business out of Seattle was $9K. Vancouver was only $4.5K. For a $4K savings it might be worth it to take economy up to Toronto, spend the night and take the business flight the next day.
  10. Extremely rude and I am not asking the neighbor to turn it down. I have no clue how it would be received. Could become confrontational. GS is the first step. I believe Carnival is now banning Bluetooth speakers.
  11. It's worth it to me. I'll admit this may not be PC and I am a little old fashion, but, if I'm not willing to do my own laundry while I'm on vacation, I sure as heck have no expectation that my wife should spend her vacation washing my drawers. I have no intention of becoming a pack mule on my vacation and lugging 3 or 4 large suitcases around, therefore, sending out laundry is a viable option.
  12. What are the recommendations of the experts in the field? I barely passed biology in high school 40 years ago. I will share my opinion though. If symptoms indicate that you may be ill, then yes visit the infirmary. Should the patient's diagnosis and tests indicate that their illness is communicative, then the patient should either be placed into quarantine or removed from the ship at the patient's expense. The whole purpose being the welfare and safety of the public and staff as a whole. Not the desire of a single individual.
  13. Nope. That's why (in my opinion) annual vaccinations will be important just like all the other vaccinations and we are urged to receive. ie. Flu, Tdap, HPV, Shingles, PCV, and others.
  14. Wife just came back from a quick trip to Legoland with the daughter and grandkids. Started feeling bad after she returned. Home test is positive. She is self-isolating. If her condition doesn't improve soon, we will go to the Dr. Was she exposed on the plane, at Legoland, in the hotel, at a restaurant? All unknowns. The virus is still out there albeit not as deadly as in 2020.
  15. I would probably be a little more insistent that they tell you where exactly in the policy that this is stated and to provide you with a written response confirming this in an e-mail format.
  16. Or, some people spend too much 🙄 I totally respect someone to make their own choices when it comes to their own health. However, I draw the line when someone else's decision can or may affect the health of someone else. Especially when you are confined with 4000 other people and even a small percentage of those may be more susceptible to severe illness or worse. I wouldn't think that it would be okay if someone on the ship was walking around and were knowingly infected with TB, MRSA, Pertussis, Meningitis, or other highly communicable diseases.
  17. Considering that the OP mentions that they policy was purchased from Royal, I would think that fulfills the intent. However, a mod will probably move this to the Insurance forum at some time.
  18. I feel your pain. Maybe Hank @Hlitner can respond. I know Hank has experienced many an insurance story and he worked in the insurance industry. My only advise would be to search for a policy that has medical as Primary. AON and all the cruise line policies are secondary meaning you have to file with any other primary insurance you may have even if you know 100% they don't cover and will deny. It stalls the claim until they officially deny the claim. My other advice is to seek out a broker for travel insurance. A broker who will take the time to answer any questions you may have. Someone who may even bring things to your attention that you hadn't even thought of. Also, someone who will be there to help with a claim since they earned a commission on the sale. Someone like Steve and/or his associates at TripInsuranceStore.com. Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice (tripinsurancestore.com)
  19. As we get closer to finalizing everything, maybe I'll send my spreadsheet to Steve and ask him what I should and should not cover to ensure policy compliance. when it comes to refundable vs, non-refundable line items.
  20. As I was documenting my trip costs in an excel spreadsheet, I realized that I missed the expected expense of per sitting services that we get thru Rover.com. Since it's a 23-day trip, the cost is getting up there. I'm wondering if this expense is a covered cost if it turns out to be nonrefundable? OR if due to an unforeseen medical issue, we can't return when expected. Then again, maybe it's policy dependent.
  21. Probably when their costs increased, and their margins were reduced. Business 101.
  22. Let's face it. When you give food, drink, and/or gifts (I won't even go into leaving them your leftovers), are you giving these to show your appreciation for their hard work and their ability to make your holiday special? Or, to make you feel better about yourself in the fact that YOU feel you have given them something that you consider "memorable"? My opinion is that you have made it about you.
  23. The only 2 things good about the AON insurance sold by Carnival is the 1. The price includes CFAR coverage and 2. The price is based on the cost of the cruise and does not take age into consideration. The huge con is that the medical coverage is woefully too low. I recommend TripInsuranceStore where Steve or his associates will take the time if you call and discuss with you what is important to you for coverage, will answer question, and will be there to help you when it comes time to file a claim. His site is Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice (tripinsurancestore.com)
  24. Some financial institutions also have small print where they say they have up to 1 billing cycle to issue any credits.
