  1. There's actually no difference OTHER THAN, this money once purchased is nonrefundable. I might recommend just buying Cruise Cash if you decide to go that way. Cruise Cash can be used anywhere, whereas Cruise Cash Bar can only be used for beverages. Both are nonrefundable though. I've done this myself. If only just to pre-pay some of my expected expenses. I don't get that WOW WTH have I done factor on the last night statement. 😁
  2. I'll ask this question because I have to admit, I've never attended one of these gatherings while on board a cruise ship. Do they play the national anthem for ALL nationalities of veterans on board for that sailing? Or only the American national anthem?
  3. Sounds like an upstart business opportunity for you. You feel that there is a money-making opportunity that the current insurance industry doesn't see. I say go for it.
  4. As a veteran myself, I served to protect the rights of ALL people. Even those with whom I may disagree. Whatever the CD's reaction or decision is not enough for my drawers to get bunched up about. There are more important things to be concerned about. Like unauthorized people going to their cabins before 1:30. 😁
  5. If it were me, I would plan on having to wait until my scheduled check-in time. If, by chance, they allowed me to check-in early, then life is good. If they don't, I'm prepared. If it was a huge concern of mine, I would just order up a cab or an uber or a lyft so I could arrive at the appointed time. Just because a shuttle service is offered, does not mean I'm obligated to take it.
  6. How soon after you board the ship? Depends on what time you board, and what your status as a frequent Carnival cruiser is. However, if you're asking what time the cabins are scheduled to be available to all guests, the answer is about 1:30

  8. While cruise lines will give you a PQR number that shows you have a reservation, the cruise line doesn't actually pay money to the airline until about 6 weeks out. Once the airline has received the money, then they will "release" the reservation to be seen. But, the ticket was free, so that's good.
  9. A great thread to read and learn all about how the airline and cruise air business works can be found at this link. It is old, but the information is as accurate today as it was when started. After you read this thread, you can make an informed decision as to which way to go. Money can be saved, but there is a cost.
  10. That's why you have travel insurance. "Expecting" anything more or less from the cruise line is an unrealistic expectation in my book.
  11. Usually the second night and the second to last night.
  12. If you purchased the air and hotel thru the cruise line? Then yes. These are consolidator tickets and the cruise line doesn't even pay the airline until about 6 weeks out. Even though they have taken your money, they don't commit their funds to the airline or hotel until this time. Your airline tickets and hotel reservations are NOT the exact same tickets you would receive had you booked directly. 99% of the time, you the consumer would not feel any difference.
  13. I can only express my experience and that is my bank has a maximum limit for the use of my debit card. I would imagine that your bank or credit union's security policy clicked in to help prevent a possible fraudulent charge.
  14. Which annual plans are you asking about? And, to be honest, I'd probably be asking this from the broker who sold the policy to you. Their expertise is why they earn that fat commission. I would be interested in what they have to say though.

  16. The poster was probably referring back to the 80's and the Cocaine Cowboy days before there was any money laundering regulations. You used to be able to walk in with duffle bags full of cash and deposit with no questions asked. Then regulations were put in place where any amount over $10K had to be documented and legally accounted for.
  17. You can keep making excuses and bringing up individual outliers for days. Reality is that technology is here and is expanding at a meteoric rate. You have 2 options. Accept it and try your best to keep up with it, or deny it exists and go down kicking and screaming. Either way, the technology train has left the station and neither you nor I nor anyone else can stop it.
  18. easy. Just stop carrying cash. Vending machines accept electronic transfer of money. Gas stations, laundromats, convenience store, taxis, even my grandson who mows my lawn has a Venmo account to transfer money into. The only reason why we aren't a cashless society is because of the resistance to technology.

  20. It’s not about the drive time. It’s all about the time spent with the young lady who will fly the coop in just 3 to 4 years. Take the newer/bigger ship with more road time for the family. Even if she just sleeps the whole way. That means she comfortable and feels safe.
  21. The only problem you "may" run into is the pre-existing condition clauses. Read up on what the look back time frame is so you can be aware.
  22. You must be thinking about the marketing campaign or published date vs. real world experience. I've only got a limited number of RCCL cruises but all of them included Surf -n-Stream internet access. The only times I may have experienced to numbers which you speak was maybe at 2AM while sitting under an access point.
