  1. Just be forwarned, there is a catch to these "reduced deposit" sales. For example Let's say you do book a cruise with a reduced deposit. Fast forward to 60 days later and your looking around and you see the same cruise currently available for $200 per person less. You call and get the new price. Here's the tip: The sales rep may or may not tell you that to get this new price, you have to pay more money immediately because the new price does not include a reduced deposit. If you know this ahead of time or they do mention it, you're good to go. If they fail to tell you this and/or you're not aware,,, you may find at an inopportune time in the future that your cruise has been cancelled with no notification due to failure to pay the remaining deposit.
  2. I can understand this completely. I would imagine that something happened, and someone brought a home baked item that had a little weed in it. I would hope that no one brought something that was even worse.
  3. Just sharing. I've never had a problem calling Lyft the morning of debarkation. Uber, I've never had any luck in Miami.
  4. What do you want to insure that is not covered by the Allianz policy that you purchased when you bought it from Alaska Airlines? According to their website it has cancellation, medical and dental, trip delay, etc. Trip Insurance - Alaska Airlines What more do you want? Medical? You're in Alaska. Alaska has great hospital. Medicare works just fine in Alaska. Medical evacuation? Coast guard gets you off the ship for free. Evac to a better hospital after your stabilized? A different policy from the medicare isn't going to change the risk or cost. I won't disagree with GC, however, I'm thinking one needs to have an understanding of their current insurance policies, know what they do and do not cover, and then make a more educated decision.
  5. It's only been about 30 days since your last post asking this question. With everything going on, I would expect that it will be 90 to 120 days. Is that acceptable to the consumer? Not to me. However, it is what it is. Each state has it's own commissioner who regulates insurance sold in that state. My state (Washington) has a regulation that within 30 days of a claim being filed, the insurance company must have responded. (How much bite that holds is unknown to me). However, after 45 days, I filed a complaint with my state insurance commission. They did send a letter to the insurance company. Whether that helped speed up the process or what, I don't know. I searched to the best of my ability on the Florida Insurance commission site and could not find the time limits that I was search for. Doesn't mean it's not there, I just couldn't find it. If nothing else, file a complaint. Here's the website for Florida residents. Home (floir.com)
  6. Hope you have a wonderful time in Venice. I will say though that flying 10 hrs. thru 9 time zone has kicked mine and my wife's butts. I don't think we got out of bed for 2 days just trying to recover from jet lag. I know we missed our planned tour on day 2.
  7. So, there is no published source stating that you can select seats when purchasing air travel thru A2S. I do believe that there are some A2S tickets that you may be able to do this under the terms and conditions of that specific ticket purchased at that specific time but to say that it is now and will continue to be a standard practice as shown in a written public statement is less than genuine.
  8. One of the reasons to use a broker like Steve. Some policies require ALL trip costs to be covered, some policies do not. Most of that varies based on State of residence (what does the state law require), and if you need CFAR or to waive pre-existing conditions.
  9. That's why it's important to understand travel insurance. Yes, you purchased the insurance from Carnival, but Carnival is not in the insurance business. They only sell the insurance administered by AON. (And make a healthy commission while at it). Since they make a commission on it (like TA's do), it would be nice if they helped you through the process, but sadly most of them know absolutely nothing about insurance, what the exact coverages are, or the process of how insurance works. Your policies had a Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) rider which means that if you cancel for ANY reason up to scheduled sailing time, your friend could have received a future cruise credit for 75% of the cruise costs. However, it appears that you and your friend failed to "properly" cancel in allotted time frame and use proper communications. Yes, one could easily place the blame on the TA, guest services, or the phone reps, but ultimately the responsibility lies with the guest.
  10. I’ve used t-Mobil for wifi calling and FaceTime while on the ship. Also enjoyed the free texting and data plan while on the islands.
  11. Has the internet gotten better on the ships? or has the user experience gotten better? Two different things. Yes, the ships have improved the number of access points. Yes, the bandwidth has improved. The user experience has not improved, if at all. Then again, 5 years ago, maybe only 50% of the passengers wanted/needed access. Today, I would venture a guess that 90% of the passengers desire access. The sheer numbers of guests and crew wanting leisure access has voided the equipment and bandwidth improvement. Will Starlink improve things? Temporarily in my opinion. It will greatly enhance things on the ship business side of things. Once the business figures out exactly how much of the available bandwidth and speed they need, they will then figure out a way to enhance the profit margin to increase revenue. They will most likely throttle speeds and access based upon tier levels of access. Top tiers will be throttled at 10Mbps with bottom tiers throttled to 1Mbps with a couple of price ranges in between which will then limit access a year or two down the road as more and more people depend on internet access.
  12. Casino play will be in USD. The ship has 2 ATM’s. 1 for USD and 1 for Euros
  13. Yea, then people will complain to housekeeping because the cabin attendant didn't clean the room. Just be responsible and return you're own dirty towels. If they're clean, put them in a cabinet or drawer.
  14. Best time to book Fly2Fun? Never. But that's me
  15. Why not just do the responsible adult thing and just return them when you're supposed to? I know, I know.. I just got busy and forgot. Not acceptable in my opinion. If your kid left their iPad at the beach or on the chair by the pool, would we accept their excuse of, but I got busy and just forgot. No,, you would go ballistic and tell them they have no sense of responsibility and blame society on kids these days are spoiled.
  16. Sounds like a scam to me also. If one is doing it for "fun" then why use anyones card. Not that big of deal right? If I were to join and one insisted on using their card, then I would also insist that if there is a large payout that requires a 1099G, then I would insist you pay all taxes imposed but still give me my % of the win. It's all for "fun" right?
  17. Just a quick look at their website, it appears to me that they are more centralized towards commercial business coverage rather than individual. But, that was just a quick look.
  18. What would Red Foreman say? 🤪
  19. There's absolutely no chance that the laws/regulations haven't changed since your experience?
  20. A few option that require some background explaination. Being 85 means 3rd party insurance is going to be a bit more expensive since 3rd party is based on age and levels of coverage. Cruise line insurance does not take age into consideration when pricing. Just the cost of the cruise. Cruise line insurance is always secondary. Meaning you must submit all paperwork to Medicare for re-imbursement, wait for Medicare to decline coverage (if outside the US), then submit the claim to whatever company the cruise line insurance goes thru. Many 3rd party policies do offer to be "primary" for medical meaning you only submit to them for reimbursements. Cruise line insurance also does not waive pre-existing medical conditions, whereas 3rd party will waive if purchased in the time frame they set in their policy. Cruise line insurance medical and evacuation limits are low compared to 3rd party policies. Cruise line policies include Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) up to scheduled sailing time. 3rd party policies off CFAR for an additional cost and is limited to cancelling at least 48 hours prior to ship scheduled departure. Having said all this as an introduction to travel insurance 101, many of us here reach out to Steve or his people at TripInsuranceStore.com. Don't be afraid to call them if you have questions. I believe they have 6 to 9 companies that they have vetted, and they do business with. It doesn't cost you to call Steve or purchase the insurance thru them. They receive a commission just like a TA and they will help in times of trouble just like a "good" TA. Her is a link to get started if you so wish. The phone contact is at the top of the page. 21. As FlyerTalker said, when you call Air2Sea, you're talking to a consolidator. If they don't have inventory to sell you, then they can't sell you something they don't have. There is a HUGE difference between the airline directly and a consolidator. Also, as FT said, Air2Sea negotiated the fares a year or so ago. They can only sell at the negotiated price. Their price and the price point that an airline currently has are totally different. Having said that, I went thru the cruise line air department one time. I saved $200 per person on each ticket. (Of course, my travel time went from 6 hours to 14 hours) I learned my lesson. Then again, that may be why there is a pinned thread just above this called Cruise Air and Air Deviation Explained. Tells you more than you wanted to know how the industry works.
  22. I believe that Princess offers a Platinum plan that has 100% cruise credit if claim is CFAR.
