  1. Royal C might be a better value at this time b/c you still have younger kiddos and Disney is pricey! Maybe when they are older. You will.miss out on much of the great things on BEYOND..The Club, amazing theater, Workd Class Bar, EDEN etc. If you try X , it has the cartoon dinner. le Petit Chef...they might like that. Depends on time of year and your kids. they will be treated quite special on X.. bring a tiny blow up pool for the little one! but not much else
  2. so Amazing... I will return to the photos of this last phase of your review again and again. it is calming, easy to to enjoy...and mediate upon.... ... sadly contrasted with what I am seeing on TV these days. Thank You..
  3. so sorry about bullying. It is tragic and long lasting..more than just youthful banter or picking on each other. Have worked with victims..It is sad how mean and cruel some people can be..they need help too! On cruises some people are friendly... easy to ask "are you enjoying the cruise?..Did u go to the port ? How was the show,?" if folks don't want to chat they will signal clearly .. My husb and I are both shy and private but enjoy chatting with cruisers..like cruise critic!
  4. hope it improves.. too many glitches so far.. have you chatted with other Retreat guests to hear if they have similar experiences? Have a Great Day!
  5. When my aunt and uncle sailed across from NY on one if the Queens, .we all went in for a fancy BON VOYAGE party onboard. It was quite the gala. After the party, well wishers threw streamers from the pier! Guess that experience hooked me on cruising. ****** guests no longer allowed on bd unless a special group..like TAs!
  6. Also 1993 episode of Keeping up Appearances. Too funny! Hyacinth is looking forward to a spell of gracious living on the 'Queen Elizabeth II' while taking a holiday cruise. She soon changes her mind though when she discovers that, by some form of bad luck, Onslow and Daisy are also on board!
  7. I loved Rumpole....the "Golden Thread" Have all the volumes..maybe fun to re-read a few episodes. Videos still available as well! Thanks for the memories.
  8. it's that busy time when the ships return.. Very exciting.!
  9. this happens more than it should. ..itin planners seem not very aware of traditional port holidays or other closures. No fun when everything is closed!
  10. not always just the location that matters..and who knows where the conflict may spread next.??
  11. the anger developed after the waIter lied to cover his error and his boss backed him up in nasty public way!
  12. That make sense.. We were lucky to visit Ephesus and the old area in the port.. before things changed.. Luckily our neighbors' family survived the recent earthquake. They are waiting a bit for their annual visit to Istanbul.
  13. re Tobago..which excursion had u booked that was cancelked? did they give any reason? re St Lucia.did you get to see the Pitons? beautiful views! In general..my husb always brings his cigars but may buy one or two in ports..ship expensive..not wide selection...Not sure abt Silho..??
  14. some carib ports hit or miss ex. gr cayman .. costa mayo
  15. i i think this is very good advice and the best approach to cruising...roll with the punches! many variables..including weather
  16. enjoy your cruise...nice cabin..big balc.. view seems fine! The error on the type of steak at LCG also happened to 3 people that we dined with from our roll call group...BUT the waiter and maitre d said it was what they ordered, even though they were shown the rib eyes at the table. They refused to make new steaks..a big stink ensued. It ruined the dinner for all..Eventually mgmnt at the front desk gave those involved a free lunch credit. Next time husb and I will go just us..! and ask to see the waiter's order.
  17. You might think about the QR code to report the paperwok lapses, and also leave an attention to detail card for the hotel director. These glitches slow things down and leave a sour note! you are easy to please but enuff already!
  18. correction to my recollections.. dh says first cancelled might have been Millie... but still the same issue
  19. Turkey has chosen sides in the Conflict. .Some would not be comfortable going or want to spend vacation money there...many other options.
  20. first was waaay back..our first X cruise was booked on Summit.. was cancelled for Charter. We ended up.on MERCURY..our fav ship ever! do not recall the month. Was a carib itin. Another one was when "Salesforce" chartered our ship ..probaby M class? to use as a Convention hotel..west coast..do not recall the month. another was when X re-did their entire lineup.. twisted a long time with that one . we cancelled and rebooked. M clsss Inf ?? all a long time ago and we try to avoid what sniffs out as iffy! partial charters can also be bad..not much one can do and not all groups are awful!
  21. we had a "3 shrimp" cocktail in Lumiae on BEYOND.. the shrimp were mini and mushy..sauce tasted like ketchup. Could not eat it. Same cruise, we went to BLU and had huge firm shrimp with a perfect tangy cocktail sauce... Same ship, diff shrimp..go figure?? Hoping for the best on Ascent!
