  1. Our Midnight Buffet is a Latenight Snack at 1130PM with selected items. Not like the old days where it was a killer table and setup. Cheese board, Seafood Display, Array of Breads and Rolls, Cold Cuts, Banana Foster etc..... No More..
  2. When we sail into Boston for the 4th of July sailing and dock at the Black Falcon Terminal like in the photo above. We are by a waterway that during that day, ships, vessels, sailboats, cruisers etc.. like to leisurely transit thru to see the ships docked. Many will pass slowly and look up and wave to those on balconies or the promenade deck. I have to say that they appreciate a wave back and maybe even yell up, blast their horns, etc... Really makes the visit festival especially when the sun goes down and their ships turn to partying, music, flashing lights..... Looking forward to returning in 1 month and 4 days to experience again.
  3. Boston Cargo Port right across from our ship last September.... (Click on for better viewing)
  4. Totally agree...... Days of the Round Cabin windows are gone and Balcony are a must. We too like the balcony not for just a particular reason for all different reasons as you said and more. Watching in an out of port, day at sea viewing the open ocean and waves, seeing other vessels at a distance, Sunrises & Sunsets. Also sunning, reading and sleeping. Photos a must. Waving to passer-bys on small vessels along the side of the ship. Hoping a Cocktail Party while the sea is passing by or a nice port as a back drop...
  5. As I have mentioned in the past, the cargo ports. I have fun each time we go on a NE/CAN voyage onboard the QM2 when we dock at the Black Falcon Terminal across from there Cargo Port. Last time we docked in the last September, the whole day the activiity across the water was really alive. The trucks coming and going. These trailer boxes flying on the crane from the ship to ground and onto the truck cab. And whisk away down the dock, with the next one approaching. This took place for several hours. The other port I enjoyed was in the Port of Panama by the Panama Canal. Same activity as above but 10 X 100 times busier than I ever saw. Several cranes and large line up of trailers approaching from many directions. Yes I am on a cruise and vacation to enjoy but this is part of sailing to see the other parts of the harbor working.
  6. We just stroll and maybe do some window shopping along the main strip. Also we like to lunch at a all time favorite called The Red Parrot. But mostly in the post we have just strolled since it's the day before disembarkation in NYC..... Rarely get it in the middle of a voyage.
  7. Easy to make at home..... Except have to master Cherries Jubilee
  8. On our Cunard Shore Excursions we also have the John Adams House which is a distance. Unfortunately is was disappointing to us on our visit since the property is very old and disappointing to navigate thru the house due to it's age. It is property of the National Parks and is a walk thru not guided.
  9. So many interesting subjects have been created for this wonderful and interesting forum. Educational, Interesting and even Bizarra in nature. Has there ever been an Unusual Food you may have seen on board that you never expected to see while Sailing. Maybe I am different and others have seen in the past but once we had on our fish on the QE2 and tasted great. Fried Parsley. How great and sweet. We even asked for more and they brought it. Let me open this question to all.
  10. LOL..... NYC Three Ring Sidewalk Pretzels Something about the taste the street must enhance the flavor..
  11. We enjoy walking the Harbor Walkway. We walk to the Public Garedens. Near by is the Citidel on the Mount. Thru the town walk. The Maritime Harbor Museum is our favorite with exhibits of the Titanic.
  12. Tinykygal, Forgot to mention but a distance, the Kennedy Museum was wonderful if you were brought up and remembered the president.
  13. Boston is one of our NE/CAN ports we have in all our sailings. Sadly we have exhausted the City from the first time we visited. Sometimes we get off and some we stay on and enjoy the ship with most of the passengers off. On this coming voyage, we are not sure of we will come off. But we too have always heard about the North Side Italian portion of the city. Heard many, many restaurants and bakeries. We agree that the high lights attractions a quite a distance away. MyDW love to see the Public Gardens especially in the Summer. Enjoy the bucket list but I must disagree and think we in Brooklyn, NY has the better Cannolis.
  14. Changes were great on Cunard with island music like old days but no steel drums. Melody was there.
  15. I lost them to in the past due to the changes. Nooradam was the last. Very disappointing for a new ship when it came out. Took 7 days to get a decent steak from the kitchen. But we did like the mini cabin.
  16. So happy that the ship offered the dinners for 26 evenings but unfortunately our sailing did not have that opportunity. I am going to let this point settle to personal opinion. Happy a good cruise in the future.....
  17. The passage way is on the Starboard side just before the doorway to the Promenade Deck doors. Pass the Elevator bank. The red arrow is the Chef's Gallery. My DW and I used it every night after the PG. Yes you can not go thru the Grill Bar but I wouldn't call it a blockage as it is part of the structure. Remember Speciality Restaurant was not held each evening on our sailing.
  18. On our recent sailing no problem each evening. They do not use it for evening meals. No.... we never had a problem with the walk thru. Really never influence us to purchase. Just a pass thru.... Even look out the window
  19. We use to enjoy hearing them in the pier during Embarkation. And once docked they were invited in the theater.
  20. Well I know that we all on June 30th hope and pray we will not be effected. 68 days and still counting to enjoy her and all she offers. Keeping an open mind as I have personally experienced close to cancelled sailing twice on the QE2 in he past. Once at sea with any engine problem and the 92 Cape Cod incident with a grounding. The engine problem resolved in several hours with some inconveniences during the day. And the Cape Cod incident, we were saved when she started to sail two voyages before ours. So close calls.
  21. Yes you can walk thru Deck 7 inside thru the passage way by Chef's Gallery on the starboard side
  22. We never thought it to be a big deal when we came out of the PG. Just used a different traffic pattern. Sea Air is good for a after meal stroll.
  23. Being on the QM2 for 17 years, I never had a blockage of the Deck 7 Promenade Deck except when they may be doing maintenance or painting. And they try to limit the area. Promenade Deck is continously open except for the front and rear pass thru walkway. Must mean inside of Deck 7.
  24. sfred, I think everyone will agree the area around the Illuminations Theater on Deck 2. Around the sides near Connexions to the Computer Room where the Ships what I call the Plaque Room from Ports Around The World. Also Deck 3 around the Illuminations from Port Side to Starboard where the Gallery of Stars who sailed in the past. Deck 3 to the Queens Room thru the Art Gallery and also the Secret Corridor of Solo Cabins Just to name a few.....
