  1. You need a check in time to complete your boarding pass. You can show up at 10:30 or any time you please. You will board behind wedding parties, suitors, diamonds and platinums. Once boarding starts you'll be on board in no time. If you arrive and boarding has already began, you will head right through check in and right on board. On some occasions, the ship is not ready for boarding so you will sit in the lounge until called
  2. Sailed on two cruises. First there were no big screens, watched in pub. The second was on the big screen.
  3. Can't give you a Juneau review but can give you Ann Icy Strait one. The watching left ISP and headed toward th mouth of Glacier Bay. The ride out was smooth. We reached an area where we saw a few whales, then went to another area, still calm sailing. Here we saw a large group of whales breaking this surface of the water. After a few minutes the group bubble fed and actually made a run right under the boat. Most amazing thing I ever saw. The water was calm with just small waves rocking the boat. The ride back to ISP was as calm as the ride out. While whales are not guaranteed to be seen, there's a better chance to see many types of whales during peak season. For you who are going in September, our experience was the first week of September. This coming April we will be on the Carnival Miracle journeys cruise. The whales are just beginning to come back to Alaska, so don't know what to expec.q
  4. The only place I would park is at the port. Too many bad comments about the private lots in the not so safe areas.
  5. Night or two before the end of the first leg you will get a letter explaining the B2B procedures. I would have my luggage tags on my luggage to help the stewards along. Also would go and advise guest services your on a B2B when you you board the first leg. Basically you will all meet and be led down to customs and back on the ship. No need to get a check in time, you'll be the only people on the ship, be back on around 10am.
  6. There areno more chapels, but there's library's on each ship. They are quiet. Take the photo idea one step further. A nice 8x10 of the three of you with a cruise themed surrounding. Kids love to find the small rubber ducks. Take some with your moms name and address with a small note on it. So sorry for your loss, your mom will always be cruising with both of you.
  7. Wife is a slots player, will not try a table game. Try craps, easy to learn and fun to play.
  8. Try YTD, you can request the same wait staff each night. We eat around 7pm and make all the shows.
  9. My pick would be Glacier Bay cruise. Everyone should see the beauty of the bay. We have done Alaska and Glacier Bay twice, at the end of August and the beginning of September. This time of year we saw bears and whales from an Icy Strait Point excursion. This coming April we will be cruising Alaska again. Don't know what to expect. Bears are combining out of hibernation but stay inland out of sight until the salmon begin to ruin in July and they head right to the rivers where they can be seen. and the whales are jutst beginning to return. Going to Tracy Arm Fjord, unfortunately I do not expect to get into the fjord due to ice. If the prices are the same in late August or early September I would go then. No later than the first week of September. You won't be disappointed whenever you go. Have a wonderful time.
  10. The steakhouse food is delicious, but for us they have out too high a price. We have never had any of the other restaurant fares. So on our Jubilee cruise will will be feasting on the lower priced restaurants.
  11. If all goes back to the old procedures, by not selecting a check in time, one will be auto filled for you. Show up when you want to, you will be directed right into the terminal and on board the ship.
  12. Yes, anytime during a cruise you hit platinum status you are platinum from day 1 of that cruise.
  13. Glory is our favorite ship, sailed 5 times. Will be sailing the Jubilee in October of next year, our first Mardi Gras class ship. Getting back to your dilemma, take the young lady on a cruise she will remember the rest of her life. Weather I like the Jubilee or not I will always remember the experience of this luxurious cruise. There's so much to do on the Mardi Gras.
  14. Call your airline and tell them you can't accept the flight change. If they deny you tell them you want a later flight a no extra cost. The change was not caused by you. Southwest has done this to me on a few occasions. 10:30 is a little tight even for the short ride to LGB.
  15. There might be the satellite station that was mentioned prior. Have never been on the Panorama. We very rarely do the morning buffet. Might grab a breakfast burrito once in a while. We do MDR breakfast and sea day brunch each day. Very relaxing and a lot less hectic than the buffet.
  16. I would also choose the Niew Statendam. Old San Juan is a wonderful time walking the old city. We go to St. John and Trunk Bay every visit.
  17. Both the MDR breakfast and sea day brunch have omeletts.
  18. On the first day of your cruise go to the camp and sign up your kids for the duration of the cruise.
  19. Two Alaska cruises, one in early September and the other in late August, pretty much the same time of the year. Further north we went was Glacier Bay. The September cruise we got rain, drizzle and fog sometime during each day. The temps were moderate. The August cruise was just the opposite, sunny and a little warmer. Rained only one day and that was in the morning in Skagway. As everyone says, be prepared for any kind of weather on an Alaskan cruise.
  20. Ship has a unique decor, hope you like the color purple. Miracle is one of the older ships in the fleet, capacity is 2100 people. The itinerary is the standard Hawaii cruise. Cruising anywhere in the Hawaiian Islands is visiting paradise. Sailed Miracle to Hawaii last March for 14 days. and will sail on the Miracle again this coming April, 15 days to Alaska.
  21. Each day at the guest services desk and at the Java Blue coffee shop.
  22. The Caribbean used to be our place to sail, now it's way down on our list. Love St. Thomas and San Juan will sail there again in the future ( if Carnival ever goes back to San Juan ).Also will go to HMC, Grand Turk and Amber Cove for beach and pool days only. Wife likes Mahogany Bay. Our last cruises have been to Alaska twice, Panama Canal, Hawaii, and a Christmas B2B to the Caribbean just to experience the holidays at sea. Our future cruises are to Alaska next April and a transatlantic next October.
  23. I'll throw in the Pizza Pirate for lunch.
