  1. Why don’t you just apply the GCs to your onboard account at Guest Services? That’s what I’ve always done. I did have a ridiculously long hold time recently for Princess, but I ended up getting the best agents I’ve ever experienced when I’ve called them. I waited 45 min on hold for Celebrity, and others reported hold times of 2 hours for them. I got a call back estimate of 8 hours with American Airlines. It’s very frustrating, but unfortunately it’s everywhere these days. I hope you still go on your cruise and have a fabulous time!
  2. That’s interesting. Mine had the regular cancellation schedule and showed a $500 deposit is due 8/5. I know I don’t owe that, of course.
  3. Can anyone confirm that this cruise is refundable until 48 hours before departure? I think someone mentioned it in one of these threads, and I think the Celebrity BCC rep said it too, but the connection was so bad, that I don’t know for sure. It would be really good to know if it is refundable because the booking confirmation just shows the regular cancellation schedule as if it were a regular booking. Hope everyone gets what they want! I waited on hold for 45 minutes tonight and got it exactly what I wanted. 👌
  4. Loving your trip report; keep it coming! We too experienced bad service at Fortnum and Mason when we went in 2018; I’m still glad to have experienced their tea once, though.
  5. Kudos to you for your positive outlook in the face of stress and pain, and thank you for sharing your awesome celebratory vacation!
  6. I second your salmon chowder and cobbler recommendations! They were deeeeelicious! Glad you had a fun cruisetour!
  7. Brilliance is an upgrade from Enchantment, so you extra scored with your good deal! Happy planning!
  8. Excellent account of your travels as always! Thank you for the Med journey!
  9. That’s sometimes the cost of a world cruise in an Inside stateroom!
  10. If you have kids and they’re used to all the fun features of Royal, I’d try one of Norwegian or Carnival’s newer ships.
  11. It was usually nice and cozy onboard on most of my AK cruises, but then my most recent one in 2019 wasn’t as much. When the doors would be open in port, the Piazza was freezing. I’d bring some Caribbean level clothes for dinner as well as some warmer clothes for it and see what you end up wanting. Also, a sweater is a must to carry with you!
  12. I like Princess’s new spin on the Las Vegas slogan. My Princess cruise memories truly do stay with me forever, and I’m so grateful they do! ❤️
  13. Goodness, that’s not good! My guess is they’re short staffed. It doesn’t make it right, but it sounds like they were taking shortcuts because of it. I’m very glad the rest of the lodges were good at least and hope that they fix the Fairbanks Lodge problems.
  14. One of the reasons DH and I favor Princess is the limited number of children onboard. Having children running around cutting you off, splashing you in the pool, and sticking their hands in the cookies in the buffet is not what we are seeking for a relaxing vacation. (These things occurred on Princess cruises we were on that had a higher than typical number of children onboard.) We like kids and don’t mind some being aboard; we just appreciate the tranquil atmosphere of a mainly adult oriented ship.
  15. It’s good they figured out there’s more damage before anyone got hurt! It’s a shame to miss Skagway, but hopefully all the ships can find a replacement stop.
  16. We have gone to bed anywhere between 8 PM and 2 AM. We often go to bed earlier than at home due to long excursion days tiring us out. When we are rested, we enjoy staying up late into the night, enjoying the entertainment.
  17. I don’t know if this has anything to do with it, but we in Anchorage had a big wind storm yesterday, and perhaps it moved that direction. 🤷‍♀️ Several thousand lost power for a few hours.
  18. I just read of a similar situation on a different cruise line. It’s unacceptable to be without a working toilet for days. I hope you get more compensation.
  19. Thank you for detailing your experience for us. I’m surprised the Captain Cook’s rooms have 2 full beds as it’s the most iconic hotel in town. Glad they made it right for you.
  20. Sewage in a stateroom and a non-functional toilet are unacceptable cruise experiences, plain and simple. To me, that’s an automatic move to a similar or better stateroom on day 1, and if not resolved, a full cruise refund and/or a free future cruise. I
  21. It’s a great tour and will definitely help you pass the time.
  22. Wow, exciting for that couple! Yes, it does suck for everyone else to see the same people win over and over. I’d like to think it was simply crazy luck or minimal competition. Personally, I love contests and so am excited about this program.
  23. Before Covid, it was always considered best to do it Pre-cruise because it’s go go go, but now you’re right. Doing it before increases your risk of being able to do the cruise, so you may be better off doing it after.
  24. Compare: -Both cater more to adults -Both have beautiful ships -Both offer drink packages -Both have good crew -Both offer good itins Contrast: -IMO, Princess has much better food and drinks -Celebrity has a great, free indoor therapy pool -IMO, Princess has better quality entertainment -Celebrity has fun music going as you walk through the ship -Princess is more classic, while Celebrity is more modern -Princess has more comfortable seating on its new ships than Celebrity’s new ships
