  1. Because the poster was talking about TESTING positive You’re right that without a test, you wouldn’t know.
  2. Worst case, you can get your free espresso and liquor from a bar with your package and then just pay for the gelato and pour the liquid over it.
  3. I’ll be interested to form my own opinion on our first post-Covid cruise in December. I can say it’s sad to hear so many Elites being let down lately. 😔 Princess has long been my favorite brand, and despite all the negatives I’ve read recently, I am maintaining hope that it will continue to be. 🤞 I also need my hubby to continue to favor Princess, so 🤞 for that, too.
  4. Aw, that makes sense. It did appear that all food on the tray was uniform.
  5. Boy, I’d call Royal and explain all that to them. They’ve gotta give you your money back or give you a vaccine exemption for your child. They may very well grant your child an exemption, and you can still enjoy this special cruise. Wishing you luck!!
  6. I believe it’s very wrong to knowingly board with Covid. Being asymptomatic doesn’t mean you can’t spread it to others. Just because one person is asymptomatic, it doesn’t mean another person won’t end up very sick.
  7. Yes, unfortunately that is correct. The added value is a Princess rep to greet you in the airport, handle your luggage, a bus transfer to the hotel, a Princess rep at the hotel throughout your stay to answer questions, and then the train transfer to Whittier. The tracing transfer is often not available through Princess without booking a package, so that is the best added value I see. That train ride is beautiful and takes you through a section that cars don’t get to see. To save some money, though, you can book independently, take an Uber to your hotel, and book the Alaska Railroad train independently. It really comes down to how you prefer to travel.
  8. Thank you for sharing your experience and hope everyone is well now. Were you at the Voyager or Aptel or somewhere else? We were eating breakfast at the Captain Cook and saw an employee carrying a tray of a bunch of breakfast sandwiches out the door in the direction of the Voyager. If the Captain Cook supplies the food for those at the Voyager, they’re in luck!
  9. It definitely looks like changes are coming, whether they be in a few months or a few years is the question. Those kinds of projects can be very lengthy.
  10. I don’t know the cost, but I can tell you it’s very likely you’d save money by hiring a private car service to take all of you, and you’d be on your own schedule instead of waiting for 50 other pax. My hubby and I have found that when you have 1 pax, you save money doing the Princess transfer. When you have 2 pax, you pay about the same for a transfer as you would for an Uber or taxi or private car service. If you have 3 or more pax, you typically save money by hiring a private car service.
  11. It’s wonderful you’re trying to reunite the camera with its people! Hope they get it back; vaca memory pics r so special.
  12. I live in Alaska and have done many AK cruises as well as multiple Med cruises and a variety of other Europe cruises. They’re 100% different experiences and both awe inspiring. My travel philosophy is to do the furthest afield first because you just never know what can happen. We are soooo glad we followed that, not only because of the pandemic but also because I now have an ankle injury that is easy to manage in the US but much more challenging on cobblestone streets and historical steps. Alaska is much easier to access, since it’s within our country. That said, if you’re into major adventure activity, Alaska is better done while you can. As a former teacher, I know all about scheduling vacations around the school schedule. We always did our Europe vacations at the beginning of the summer while it was a little less scorching. Would that be a possibility for you? August really is a bad month for going there; it’s when locals take time off to vacation, resulting in way bigger crowds, and the heat is oppressive. If that’s the only time you can go, though, do it. Whichever you choose, you’re going to see amazing sights! Happy planning!
  13. Eat a grill burger and have my first Virgin Strawberry Daquiri! Well technically, it’s disinfecting the stateroom and then going to lunch.
  14. Even on Princess I’ve seen a solid group of teens on Med cruises. They usually find each other and band together for the cruise. Plus, you’re going going going all day every day, so there’s really no time for them to get bored. The Greek Isles are gorgeous and fun, making them more appealing to teens than say day after day of museums.
  15. St. Lucia and St. Kitts have really fun zip lines. You and your kids can enjoy a day of fun at Carlyle Bay Beach with a water playground, great swimming, and a free snorkeling trip to snorkel with the sea turtles.
  16. I love the shopping bag and hope they bring it back!! I’m glad the mini bar is fairly normal. The zippered elite bag sounds great; I hope it becomes consistently given out on all ships.
  17. We will be on our first post-Covid cruise in December. We loved the Medallion before the pandemic, despite its occasional issue. The added features since then sound great, and we’ll see how they play out when onboard. Yeah, the internet is not what it’s marketed as being, and I do realllllly hope they fix that, but other cruise lines’ internet doesn’t seem to be any faster based on the speed test results people post on here. Go on your cruise, and hopefully you’ll have a fabulous time!
  18. Don’t do it! All it takes is experience the Rome airport once, and you’ll have a good laugh that you ever considered it. First, the drive is about 1-1.5 hours to the airport depending on traffic. Then, you can wait in a 1-2 hour line to check in, followed by another hour long at Security. You’re already supposed to be at the airport 3 hours before departure. We arrived at the Rome airport 3 hours before departure and almost missed our flight!
  19. I wouldn’t risk it; European airlines are rather rigid about size and weight of luggage. We bought what’s called a European carry-on, and you can see the size difference when placed next to our regular one.
  20. There are way more kids on Princess over Christmas due to families traveling together over the holidays. Though I’m not privy to actual numbers of course, I’m sure there will be plenty.
