  1. Don’t rely on the ship to be able to exchange money for you. The Enchanted was out of Euros the entire 2 weeks we were onboard, and they don’t have a currency exchange machine like the Europe ships had pre-pandemic.
  2. Some shows were at 7:00, some at 8:00, some at 9:00, and some at 10:00. We found that once we’d get used to a time, it might be different next time. Always check the Patter.
  3. Pre-pandemic, we found the food on Europe cruises to be superior because the ingredients were sourced there. On our Europe cruise this summer, the food was decent with some standouts, but it wasn’t as good as what we had on a US cruise this year. I don’t know if it was a new supplier or the chefs. They did have regional theme nights, which we enjoyed.
  4. Does anyone know how Kathi is doing? I’ve kept her blog page open to check for updates but haven’t seen any.
  5. When we boarded on Saturday, I asked Shore Excursions, and they said we are still on for Marseilles.
  6. Speed Test shows 2.89 on the Enchanted while in port today. I have to say that the internet has been consistent and useable the whole time thus far, exceeding all past internet experiences we have had on Princess. My hubby has even made some Wi-Fi video calls successfully.
  7. Princess is wonderful with accessibility. Ask your TA to submit the mobility questionnaire in advance, and get a handicap accessible room. You drive it right into your room and then back out to leave. The carts do obstruct the halls, so I try to use the elevators closest to my stateroom. I have an electric mobility scooter and can get everywhere on the ship except for the sports deck. Shore excursion are where it gets frustrating because there are hardly any accessible excursions unless you just sit on a bus the whole time. Passengers are very kind for the most part and will hold the elevator door to ensure you make it in and out safely.

  10. OP, have you received any info as to whether Marseilles will be swapped out for another port next week? If so, which one?
  11. Our medallions arrived just 25 hrs before takeoff!! Phew!!!
  12. We’ve been wondering about this as we board Saturday. As long as they find us a replacement port, we’ll be happy. We’d love it if they switched to Monaco.

  14. Holy cow that’s horrendous customer service!! I hope the executives see this and fire that rep. I’m sorry you got so sick and hope it never happens to you again.
  15. It’s still advertised on their website as being available on some ships but doesn’t name which ones. We are hoping they have it on the Enchanted when we are aboard next week. It’s well worth the upcharge to us. They have a string quartet play, fancy souvenir paper menus, the traditional 3 tier display with scones, sandwiches, and desserts, and the teas are served in courses.
  16. It all depends on what you’re going for. If you want. Nice hotel, Alyeska all the way. If you’re going for SeaLife, it’d be Seward. You can hike to a glacier in Seward. You can hike a mountain in Girdwood (the town where Alyeska resort is). Both have good restaurants. Alyeska has spa services. Seward has fishing. Seward has more shops to walk around and explore.   18. We have very rarely found it to be busy, and we have never regretted getting it. The only downside I’ve experienced is that you feel compelled to use it every single day because you’ve spent so much money on it, when there are days that I would ideally prefer not to because we’re busy.

  21. So this is strange. As I shared last weekend, our Medallions showed as shipped, but we had not received an email yet. Well, I just now received the email, and it’s bizarre. 2 weeks after our credit card was charged, and almost a week after they showed as shipped, a label was created with FedEx in Singapore, and it says they’re awaiting receipt of the item to ship! It’ll be a miracle if this thing arrives before we fly to Europe. Princess seriously should not be charging shipping when it ships from another country only 9 days from the cruise!!
  22. If you want the best Alaska experience, go Princess as they were one of the original cruise lines to do Alaska and have it down; plus they have Glacier Bay access and own their own lodges. If you prefer entertainment, go Royal. If you prefer food, go Princess.
