  1. As a math person I love yyyy-mm-dd because it is easily sortable.
  2. I don't understand your problem. A roll call is specific to a ship and a sailing. If you are responding to another post on the roll call, you use the quote function so that people can follow what you are responding to. If you have a new question, use the "reply to this topic" box which gives you a clean post within the roll call. It doesn't mean that you are really responding to something; to respond to something specific use the quote function (which is why your post shows up at the beginning of this post where I am responding to you.
  3. The new yearly schedule from Dec 10 2023 to Dec 14 2024 has now been posted at https://www.vy.no/en/traffic-and-routes/times?item=2893 They have simplified the schedule a bit; there are only 3 different timetables rather than the 4 that were there last year. The summer schedule runs from May 1 to Sept 30, with 9 round trips per day. Low season (winter) Dec 10 2023 to Mar 31 2024 and Nov 1 2024 to Dec 14 2024 Shoulder season April 1 to 30 2024 and Oct 1 to Oct 31 2024 High season May 1 2024 to Sept 30 2024. I have not yet seen any new dates come up on Norway's Best. They still show only to the end of March 2024.
  4. Careful, there are 3 Fairmont's "downtown" only one of which is directly adjacent to the cruise terminal. That one is the Fairmont Waterfront. A few blocks away is the Fairmont Pacific Rim, and there is also the Hotel Vancouver, which is in the centre of downtown, not on the waterfront.
  5. What day of the week are you talking about for the return trip?
  6. This is a sound bar. It is a separate speaker for the TV, so that sound wouldn’t be coming through the mirror. https://www.amazon.com/Cinematic-Impactful-Bluetooth-Mountable-Traditional/dp/B0BRXQCW7Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?crid=2US4BIMD1ET3X&keywords=sound+bars+for+tv&qid=1699300484&sprefix=sound+bar%2Caps%2C89&sr=8-2-spons&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1

    La Terrazza

The photo was of cheese biscuits, i.e. biscuits containing cheese, not biscuits for cheese. 😀
  8. I can't believe that they will be able to make a go of this with so few passengers.
  9. No, it did not exist in April. That thread was originally about how to change your email address. It was updated last Monday, and the title was changed and the sections that are highlighted were added. The problem is new, not months old.
  10. Here they are pushing doing flu and Covid together. Other than that, suggest at least 2 weeks between them and any other vaccination.
  11. Correcting your link (I think auto-correct reared its head) https://www.iwm.org.uk/history/why-we-wear-poppies-on-remembrance-day It all started with a poem by Canadian doctor John McRae, "In Flanders Fields"
  12. I had both the hi-dose flu shot and the latest Covid shot (my 7th) on the same day. The pharmacist and I discussed which arm to use for which, but I think we got it backwards. I'm left handed so I wanted the sorer arm to be my right (non-dominant), but it turned out to be the Covid shot in my left arm that hurt a bit more. I have a prescription for the RSV vaccine, but I haven't done anything about it yet.
  13. Here in Canada the wearing of poppies officially starts on November 1st, although politicians have been wearing them for a few days already. They are worn until Remembrance Day (November 11th) and recent tradition has them being left at cenotaphs and war memorials after a Remembrance Day service there.
  14. Norway's Best (www.norwaysbest.com) has tickets for the Flåm Railway until the end of March 2024. The new yearly schedule effective December 10 2023 has not yet been posted at https://www.vy.no/en/traffic-and-routes/times?item=2893www.vy.no.
  15. I have learned to take a photo of the instructions on my phone, and then work from that.
  16. What platform are you using CC on? If on a desktop, you want the white search oval on the blue bar below your user name. If you hover over the right portion of the oval you will see "this topic" and a down arrow show up. If you click on the down arrow you will find other options to limit your search.
  17. And one of the changes is changing the title to NOT CURRENTLY WORKING
  18. It looks like the cruise is round trip out of Southampton. So you want to get to Bruges from Southampton at the end of your cruise, and then home to Toronto. To get to Bruges I have a different suggestion. What about taking the Eurostar from London St. Pancras to Brussels-midi and then a connection on to Bruges? I just picked a random date (Nov 23) and there is a Eurostar train at 11:04 that would get you to Bruges at 3:30 pm. The transfer time in Brussels is 24 minutes so no rush there. I will leave it to the UK experts to discuss how to get to St Pancras in time to catch the train. Another alternative. You don't have to go to London to fly. You could also fly Southampton to either Paris or Amsterdam and take the train from there, as detailed below, with generally a single connection. As for return to Toronto, you have 2 options really. You can fly Paris-Toronto or Amsterdam-Toronto. I would check into the departure times from those cities. You can get from Bruges to Amsterdam (Schiphol) in just under 3 hours with one connection (faster with 2 connections but more of a hassle and tighter connections) and to Paris (Charles-de-Gaulle) in a little less time 2 hours 45 minutes with one connection, but with a shorter connection time.
  19. There are other ways of preventing that. Only offer it free once, and only allow you to make one reservation until onboard.
  20. One of the big differences between ocean cruising and river cruising is the size of the ship. On a river cruise it is so easy to get somewhere where you can have a view all around (unless you are cruising the Main with the sundeck closed).
  21. If they can manage to put it off for one more year to 2026, I'll never have to pay it. (At least I won't need to for my Norway cruise next year.)
  22. I assume that should be doesn't care.
  23. I, on the other hand, had an Ama twin balcony when I sailed the Mekong. I found that neither the actual balcony nor the French balcony were large enough to use, even though I travel solo.
