  1. I think there is something to the “aged out” theory. I have been on a Fantasy-class ship eight times, but after the Paradise in May, we decided we are done with that class. There was something just not right, as you stated. The biggest issue for us was the volume. The ship was just plain loud and noisy and we could find nowhere to go for a peaceful and relaxing time. We think we have just outgrown that type of cruise.
  2. It is finally booked, after 70 minutes on the phone. The only offer I had on my list without an expiration date shown was an instant rewards certificate from a November 1 cruise on the Liberty. It had expired but was still on my list, so they made a one-time exemption and used that offer. The offer was only $100 off and was technically expired, so not a loss. I am just happy that I found out (thanks to this thread) that it can be done this way. Thanks to all for all of the good info.
  3. We selected a cruise and called to verify the rules/restrictions and make a booking for June 2023. The detail that really mattered is that the date of the cruise must be outside of final payment date. That makes sense, as we would have had to pay in full before we receive the certificate for the complimentary cruise. That rep did verify that this could be done. We selected another date (November 2023) and called again to book. This rep has put me on hold four times to “check with the team”. Now she is saying that it must be booked with an existing offer that we would then change to the complimentary offer in April. She stated that we cannot book at market rate, it must be an existing offer to be able to convert to complimentary. Since none of my offers includes November 2023, I cannot do this. It has been a frustrating process so far. I may call again to verify that info if nothing happens after this hold time ends.
  4. It means “upgrading” to a location that Carnival thinks is more desirable. You may or may not agree, but you would have more choices available.
  5. Aft is far more important to me than any of the other choices. Aft plus saving the minimum bids of $380 - $750 would be even better.
  6. I am hoping to book the Wonder with my Prime certificate. Are you saying that I could book it now, then apply the certificate and be refunded the difference between the deposit I paid and the actual port fees/taxes? And do I have to do the original booking myself, or can I use my TA? Thanks!
  7. This happened on the Mardi Gras last year. A man blocked another man’s view of the show at the Center Stage bar. We were sitting nearby when our attention was caught by one of the two men (both of them well over the age of sixty) choking the other one. The wives dragged them away quickly, and a group of four staff members followed even more quickly.
  8. When we were there in August, there were individual, plastic-wrapped salad bowls. I believe there was a Greek salad and a pasta salad. Was that a temporary Covid thing? I do not enjoy the “beach picnics” for all of the reasons mentioned above, but the salads were really good as well as protected from other people and flies.
  9. Same here. I have tried repeatedly, but the page will not load.
  10. Right side up. I have no idea why it posted upside down.
  11. I saw that and am succeeding in my quest to not sweat the small stuff! Reformed perfectionist.
  12. No, nightmares don’t make sense. Read the second sentence again.
  13. Literally every time we cruise, we get home to find random mail from one or two days during the supposed hold, but nothing the day the accumulated mail is supposed to be delivered. I leave a post-it note on the outside of our mailbox (one of 38 in a cluster). The note is always gone, but it happens again the next time.
  14. Is that real sauerkraut on the Reuben or little pieces of lukewarm boiled cabbage? I have been really disappointed in the last couple of Reubens.
  15. There are You Tube videos that demonstrate how to make a carrying handle for boxes with packing tape. It might not be something you would trust constantly, but could be an asset when picking it up.
  16. My SO’s doctor is from Puerto Rico. At an office visit last week, he made a list of places in San Juan he thought we would enjoy. Fourteen places, and one comment at the bottom - “Careful at La Perla”.
  17. I found an upgrade offer this morning - $287 to move from an inside to an OV on deck 2 on the Magic for six nights. I must be on their list of stupid guests ☹️
  18. The bingo game that included the Deal or No Deal packages on the Conquest in November was held at 6:30 p.m. on the last night. I think a lot of packages went unclaimed because early seating was at 6:00. I went to pick up my package at 5:45 as directed, and to ask exactly what time the game started - 6:30. I walked up and the first thing out of her mouth was, “For only $23 you can upgrade….”. I told her I wasn’t certain I was going to play because of dinner. Her response to that was, “Would you like to buy a $2 marker?” 😂
  19. I left $43 on the Liberty on September 30 and still have not received a check. I filled out the form above 2-3 weeks ago, no response received.
  20. Let me ask a related question, please. When will the Christmas music on the ships stop? On a cruise from the 22nd until the 31st and find pretty much most of them qualify for the “most annoying”.
  21. We usually take our Christmas cruise the second week in December, but got a really good deal this year for nine nights on Jewel of the Seas 12/22 through 12/31. With the Jewel being older, smaller, and lacking the kid-friendly amenities of the larger, newer ships, we are hoping it won’t be as bad as it could be. But now, 21 days before sailing, the only available cabins are a few suites, so I don’t know. Hopefully the crowds will consist of more older couples instead of so many large family groups. Either way, we will enjoy it.
  22. We became quite spoiled during our reduced occupancy cruises and are now super aware of the crowds. It has been a bit disappointing and we are anxiously awaiting the day it seems normal again. The reduced occupancy is pretty much our only positive memory of Covid days!
  23. It will be worse and there will be more large multi-generational family groups. Expect it to be more difficult to move around the ship easily because of the groups.
