  1. The cabin is mid-aft, exactly the location we prefer (right behind aft-facing balconies or forward-facing windows). This was a bonus cruise for us - originally we had a relative flying in the day we would have been getting off the ship. She changed her flight to the following day, so we gained an extra cruise.
  2. We were on the ship December 22-31 and found inconsistencies in the cabin. The sofa was threadbare and disgusting, but other things in the cabin seemed quite new. All of the drawers and doors opened/closed easily, the carpeting was fine, and the balcony door seemed brand new. The shower was great albeit small, the toilet seemed huge and high, but the mirror edges were blackened and the shelves were obviously the originals.
  3. I forgot to mention how much we enjoyed the Beatles tribute band. They were great. When the curtain went up, it was just like watching them on Ed Sullivan when I was twelve years old.
  4. Yes, there were paninis every day in the WJ last week and they were all very good except the Reuben. There is definitely a difference between sauerkraut and little pieces of boiled cabbage. I am curious to see what you all think about the shows. We loved the cruise otherwise, but thought the shows were weak. We thought City of Dreams was weird, though I would probably give it another try. We usually go to every show (except Invitation to Dance), but we skipped both the juggler/comedian and West End to Broadway this time. I think our problem is the amount of ballroom dancing, which we just don’t enjoy.
  5. I booked on December 20 (for the Regal Princess on January 11) and received the email invitation to bid the next day. I bid $5 over the $35 pp minimum to go from an inside to a standard obstructed balcony. I was notified tonight that we were upgraded to a deluxe obstructed balcony. I did have to input payment info for the $80, they did not use the credit card from the original booking.
  6. Thank you! We booked a very inexpensive inside (casino rate), bid $35 pp, for an upgrade, and won the bid. We were assigned E517. We used the link to see a photo of the cabin and are very pleased - definitely worth $35 pp just for the natural light.
  7. We recently booked MSC for the same reasons. I am relieved and grateful that we already have six fairly reasonably priced cruises booked in the future because I see nothing (except MSC) that I would even consider paying for at this time.
  8. We use a CitiCard custom rewards card. We get 5% cash rewards in the category used the most that month, for the first $500. So we put $500 on that card and the remainder on BOA for 3% cash rewards on one category (always set on travel). We never pay interest, the cards are paid off monthly, so the rewards are definitely a benefit.
  9. The very aft cabins on Deck 14 on the Mardi Gras are close to the base of the Bolt (where it is attached to the framework of the ship) Vibrations and noise from the Bolt - we could actually tell when the “boost” button was used.
  10. Years ago, I needed to wash three beach coverups on a Carnival ship. There was a woman in the closest laundry room with two loads in the machines and more on the floor. She told me where the nearest room was and said she had another load after the current one and it would take a while. I thanked her and headed upstairs. Apparently she changed her mind right after I walked out, because she was already in the other laundry room when I got there. The lids were closed on the washers but they were silent. I opened the lid and saw her laundry just dumped in haphazardly. She had used the stairs in the other direction and run quickly enough to beat me to the laundry room she had just directed me to. That was the tackiest thing I have ever experienced on a cruise.
  11. I think there is something to the “aged out” theory. I have been on a Fantasy-class ship eight times, but after the Paradise in May, we decided we are done with that class. There was something just not right, as you stated. The biggest issue for us was the volume. The ship was just plain loud and noisy and we could find nowhere to go for a peaceful and relaxing time. We think we have just outgrown that type of cruise.
  12. It is finally booked, after 70 minutes on the phone. The only offer I had on my list without an expiration date shown was an instant rewards certificate from a November 1 cruise on the Liberty. It had expired but was still on my list, so they made a one-time exemption and used that offer. The offer was only $100 off and was technically expired, so not a loss. I am just happy that I found out (thanks to this thread) that it can be done this way. Thanks to all for all of the good info.
  13. We selected a cruise and called to verify the rules/restrictions and make a booking for June 2023. The detail that really mattered is that the date of the cruise must be outside of final payment date. That makes sense, as we would have had to pay in full before we receive the certificate for the complimentary cruise. That rep did verify that this could be done. We selected another date (November 2023) and called again to book. This rep has put me on hold four times to “check with the team”. Now she is saying that it must be booked with an existing offer that we would then change to the complimentary offer in April. She stated that we cannot book at market rate, it must be an existing offer to be able to convert to complimentary. Since none of my offers includes November 2023, I cannot do this. It has been a frustrating process so far. I may call again to verify that info if nothing happens after this hold time ends.
  14. It means “upgrading” to a location that Carnival thinks is more desirable. You may or may not agree, but you would have more choices available.
  15. Aft is far more important to me than any of the other choices. Aft plus saving the minimum bids of $380 - $750 would be even better.
  16. I am hoping to book the Wonder with my Prime certificate. Are you saying that I could book it now, then apply the certificate and be refunded the difference between the deposit I paid and the actual port fees/taxes? And do I have to do the original booking myself, or can I use my TA? Thanks!
  17. This happened on the Mardi Gras last year. A man blocked another man’s view of the show at the Center Stage bar. We were sitting nearby when our attention was caught by one of the two men (both of them well over the age of sixty) choking the other one. The wives dragged them away quickly, and a group of four staff members followed even more quickly.
  18. When we were there in August, there were individual, plastic-wrapped salad bowls. I believe there was a Greek salad and a pasta salad. Was that a temporary Covid thing? I do not enjoy the “beach picnics” for all of the reasons mentioned above, but the salads were really good as well as protected from other people and flies.
  19. Same here. I have tried repeatedly, but the page will not load.
  20. Right side up. I have no idea why it posted upside down.
