  1. E.S. has been on a downward spiral for a few years now. Last year we had no other choice and it was bad. Filthy bathroom, Very slow check-in, 60-70 in line for breakfast. Ect.
  2. It is called The Harbor Shops off 17th. street about 2 miles from the airport, then 1/2 mile to the port. There is some shopping across the street also from the Harbor Shops. Plenty of food in the area. Duffy's sports bar is in the Harbor shops and has 2 for 1 drinks all day every day, with good food also.
  3. I am unsure if SAS will pick up in Ft. Lauderdale and go to a hotel by Miami airport. You might want to call Steve the owner and check. You have to realize hundreds (300-400) of people are picked up by SAS every weekend in Ft. Lauderdale and are brought to port of Miami. And vice versa after their cruise. Some people miss the boat on information, lack of whatever, it happens when dealing with these amounts of people. We have Used SAS 4-5 times and have never been left behind. They have a fleet of vans going and coming. If you are unsure then just do an uber, or try the tri rail train. Good luck. When you disembark your cruise, your cruise line more than likely has shuttles to the Ft. Lauderdale airport. You have to pre book them in you ships excursions. I know that Royal Caribbean does, as we are taking one in October after our Icon cruise, then back to Ft. Lauderdale for $32 P.P.
  4. We stayed there once about 5-6 years ago. It was just OK, no frills at all. Kind of crowded then, now they have more rooms so I could only imagine. We like Hyatt Place a few blocks west, always friendly, clean, smaller hotel, good breakfast, They will get you in a room early with no extra charge, as soon as one is ready. Very close to food, wine, ect.
  5. There are plenty of hotels along 17th street that are all nicer than E,S, All within 1 mile of the port entrance.
  6. I would just call the hotel and ask. I don't think it would be more than $10 per person. It is only 3/4 mile from the port.
  7. I believe they all do. That is why they sail so smooth now a days. Back 40 years ago ships used to tilt back and forth, also for and aft. I remember watching the water at dinner in a glass move around. The last 15 years or so with a lot of ships being so huge, you barely feel any motion at all. At least I don't. We have been sailing Oasis class the last 10 years and never feel any movement. Hope this helps.
  8. https://www.windy.com/-Waves-waves?waves,33.119,-76.069,5 Move the map around then click an area. Will show you wave heights. The area of the hurricane is vey small compared to the size of the Caribbean. Any area within a 100 miles of it the waves are only 10 ft tall, which is nothing for a cruise ship.
  9. Hilton Marina is a beautiful hotel, nice pool, location on the intercostal, more money than Hyatt Place. Do not know if they have shuttles or not. Not very close to food, and only a Walgreens across the street. Hyatt Place is nicer location for food, 2 places for wine within 2 blocks. Lots of places to eat within 2 blocks. Has a airport shuttle $8 PP, Cruise shuttle $9 PP, Free breakfast. Clean. friendly staff. Will get you in a room early without paying extra. We have been on 22 cruises and like this location the best. You can get Hyatt Place at a huge discount May- November, $109 a night up tp $149 a night through, Valutrips.com. There are a few black out dates on thier site so check. Have used V.T. over 10 times now without any problems. You do not pay until you stay at the hotel, and can cancel any time up until a few days before staying.
  10. Most cruise lines have shuttles going to BOTH airports after a cruise.
  11. Virgin has no shuttle to Fort Lauderdale airport, If they do, take it then the cruise port is only a 2 mile cab ride from the airport.
  12. The hotels along 17th street are close to the port. The ones on the beach are close to the port. The Riverside is downtown Fort Lauderdale about 3-4 miles from the port. We like the hotels along 17th. street the most. There is a free shuttle that comes into the Harbor Shops area about every 20 min and will take you to the beach. Plenty of restaurants in this area also. Many people choose to stay in the Dania area just south of the airport, but we find it more congested with high speed traffic.
  13. You think thats high, tickets for Taylor Swift start at $ 2,300 P.P. Who would spend that much to see a singer.
  14. Technicaly Miami, but actually between Miami and Fort Lauderdale at the Hard Rock stadium Miami Gardens. Both cities are expensive for hotels.
  15. Sas only shuttles from Fort Lauderdale to Miami port. Nothing from Miami airport.
  16. Cancel it by calling the hotel. They do not charge you anything until your stay. Then submit for another date thru Valutrips again for October. Valutrips only has a portion of the rooms at the hotel for them to discount.
  17. Hotels in Lauderdale are generally cheaper, depending on time of year. We always stay at Hyatt Place on SE 10th. street. It is a 2-3 mile shuttle ride from airport. There are shuttle companys that will pick you up in the morning, ( shared shuttles ) and bring you to port of Miami. Starting at $ 15 P.P. We have used sasrideshares in the past. They will bring you back to Fort Lauderdale airport after your cruise. There are a few others also. Qls. Uber or taxi will be quite expensive, it is about 22 miles trip. https://www.ridesas.com/
  18. We always wait till May to cruise because of the high hotel rates from December to April 30th. May1 st rates drop a whole bunch for summer.
  19. Gotch, thats not bad at all for march.
  20. $ 160 a night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hyatt Place was $ 109 a night.
  21. We just used them for 4 days total pre and post cruise in May. Have used them about 8-10 times in the past and have (((( NEVER ))))) had a problem. Once you receive conformation from them, ( 3-7 days ) call the hotel directly to confirm they have it. You only pay the hotel one you stay and can cancel just about up to your date.
  22. https://www.ridesas.com/ You can use this shuttle service to and from Ft. Lauderdale hotels to the port of Miami for $15 per person. They have a list of the hotels in Ft. Lauderdale that they pick up from. This should be cheaper than an Uber.
  23. Hyatt Place hands down,( the 1 on SE 10th. behind E.S. ) been there over 10 times in the past 13 years. Was just there pre and post cruise in May. E.S. is a dump, and 1 moth ago Holiday Inn had no hot water, sever people complaining about it. Too bad you will not use valutrips for this hotel. We have every time and save $80- 100 off daily rate. You book though VT and pay at the hotel. You can cancel just about up to your date. VT takes no $$$ with the booking. Once confirmed you check with the hotel for your reservation. Easy Peasy.
