  1. First Carnival cruise coming up - i thought I had read somewhere that you were not allowed to take alcohol onboard. Can anyone clarify if I can take my own wine on ?
  2. Of course unless you are not going into a Canadian port. This worried me until I found out that ArriveCan was for entry into Canada. We dont go there 😉 so we dont need to do this.
  3. earlier in this thread someone used the same 100 shares for a similar booking to what is mentioned here. two cabins used the joint shareholding - one for each cabin then at checkin changed who was to go in which cabin
  4. "Entitled" New Yorkers hey ! not all but enough to spoil a cruise. Cruised many times and the only one I've said never again to was one out of NYC.
  5. Thanks for your detailed instructions. Can I please ask (new shareholder and never applied before) do you do this no matter which line you are sailing on or only on "Carnival" branded ships. For instance I have two cruises coming up. One with Costa and one with Carnival. Do I apply to the same email address for both ?
  6. Thank you for your response - It is not appearing in shore excursions and we travel in November - am I too early ?
  7. We are going on a Spain intensive itinerary. We have 3 overnights one each in Barcelona, Seville and Lisbon before disembarking. I'm wanting to book a concert performance onshore. I don't want to do it on the Azamazing evening. Is there any way of finding out what is planned ? or is there anyone who can shed any light on which overnight port the evening will be held ?
  8. It completely depends on the mix of passengers onboard. If you are sailing from Germany for example you will have lots of Germans some Italians, some French, some English speakers for example and they will do the announcements in all those languages. My last Costa cruise had 1400 English speakers on and all announcements were in English first, then Italian etc.... We have sailed out of Japan on Costa and the announcements were in Japanese, English, Italian and French. So you will find all sorts of languages used per the passenger mix. All menus are translated and used in different languages - in the main dining room you will be seated in an area with people that speak the same language and a waiter that has skills/familiarity of the menu in that language. The same is for the shows - they are introduced in many languages by the cruise director and then the shows will be mostly visual. The singing will be mainly English with perhaps one of them being an Italian opera show. The labels and signage is usually English or dual English and Italian.
  9. Thanks that clears up why I havent heard of it . We do not travel to Canada on our cruise.
  10. This is something new that I havent heard I needed. What is an " ArriveCan QR code" ??? I am testing in australia pre flight - will get my results emailed to me while flying (hopefully) So I will be within the 2/3 day time frame for pre covid testing to board. Didn't know I needed anything else.
  11. HI - we are booked into an airport hotel the night before our cruise. We will be having lots of sea days so want to spend the day in Seattle without our luggage prior to boarding. It is a public/bank holiday 6th September but would like to wander around the shops. Does anyone know of a shopping centre with left luggage facilities ? or a luggage forwarding service from the hotel to the port ? I see that the port of Seattle have a free luggage service for those disembarking where they will check it into the airline for you but not the other way round. Any thoughts, experiences or ideas would be welcome.
  12. From the Azamara website here.... https://www.azamara.com/en-au/discover/what-they-say/azamara-cruise-news/covid-19-health-screening-and-boarding-protocols The other "recent articles" on the page are dated 26 May 22, 19 May 22 etc... This article is undated.
  13. OK I'm missing something - where do I find the information about boarding. I understand that things change frequently but where do I find it ??? I have looked on the Azamara webpage and the latest information there states..... We board in Italy ? or not if you follow this information Regardless of nationality, boarding will be denied to: Any person who has traveled from, to or through mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Italy, Iran, or South Korea 15 days prior to embarkation. Any person who has come in contact with anyone with 15-day prior travel to mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Italy, Iran, or South Korea. The CDC characterizes contact with an individual as coming within six feet (2M) of a person.
  14. I do not disagree with you but Azamara porting in other countries would be subject to the rules of that country not just the CDC.
  15. WE did an excursion to the Dead Sea on our Isreal port and our friends did an excursion to Jerusalum. We also had a stop in Jordan that allowed us to go to Petra for the day. It was fantastic.
  16. On the whole I thought the entertainment team did a terrific job. The shows were enjoyable although lasted less than a hour each night. There were plenty of games, dances, exercise classes etc... on pool deck. The lounges had destination lectures and trivia every day and there were craft classes etc... every day.
  17. I have done partial legs of the world cruise ... the quizzes are in different languages - so one question will be given in Italian, then French, then spanish then English and German. The translation is a bit dubious lol and sometimes hard to understand - i think they just use google translate and try and pronounce words that sometimes you cannot comprehend. They do ask at the start to put your hand up to each language and use that as a guide to which translations are needed. I didnt play bridge - we took our own travel games and played in one of the lounges - other people joined us and we have friends that we still keep in touch with through these games. The internet was woeful ..... very very slow and very expensive.
  18. and having just read through the "useful Information" it does not mention service charges except to tell you how much they are 🙂 Having seen people have problems with what is paid for shoreside and what is expected onboard I would not pre pay .... there is a disconnect between what gets passed on to the ship. I have seen too many people arguing about what they expected to be already paid for before they sailed. And you have to pay them again if the ship does not have a record of payment and argue it out when you get home with head office.
  19. It says you can in the booking confirmation letter sent when you pay your deposit ......."SERVICE CHARGES ON BOARD: The hotel service charge is part and parcel of the of the price of the cruise. It can be paid on board or prepaid when booking your cruise. More information can be found in the "Useful Information" section of our official website."
  20. We did a similar cruise to this it was 20 nights from Venice to Male on Costa - it was one of our best and we have had 17 cruises - three of them on Costa. We had different entertainment each night. The menu items did repeat although I cant say that I noticed complete menu repetitions. We thoroughly enjoyed going through the Suez Canal - make sure you take binoculars with you. Costa ran trivia and other social events every day and did well at keeping people busy on the sea days. It helped that out of 2500 passengers there were 1400 english speaking people on our cruise (over 1000 of them from Australia). Usually we are in the minority.
  21. I have always managed and "early bird" cuppa on Costa I usually wake at around 5am and look for a bar where I can get a hot drink. Never had a problem and I have cruised 3 times on costa.
  22. Have the rules changed to enter america ? I'm Australian travelling to America in September
