  1. shhh. Keep this a secret. Let everyone think you must get an afternoon flight for this port!! 😉
  2. I don't know as it's our first time in Blu. I will ask. Maybe I will get lucky.
  3. I actually did find the answer to the regular free menu. It is in the app under dining, then Alcoves, then there is a section that has Menu. I looked on there and it had everything. I just was fiddling around with my phone and found it. It unfortunately did not give me the answer for Blu but I will ask when onboard in February.
  4. I thought the same thing. Our kids were either in the kids club and we picked them up or they were with us when they were under 12. After that they had cell phones but they usually were with us anyway. Last cruise we were on with them in August, I had 28, 22, 21 and 20 and we texted where we were going or doing. Turned out to be good in the end as they were out a little late in Bermuda and celebrating a little too much so husband got a text to go "help". Sometimes it's just nice to have a phone that's on. 😉 Thankfully we kept ours on. All was well in the end.
  5. If you can't book preboarding on your sailing, here's what we did on our recent Allure sailing. We looked at the shows and restaurants we wanted pre cruise. The shows appeared I believe a week prior. I had Google notes which I put in all the days and times of shows I wanted to see (aqua and comedian). Then I added the restaurants as we had UDP. After we checked in and were waiting to board we kept refreshing our phones to see if we could connect to ship wifi. Once we knew we could, we immediately went to work. He took the shows. I did the restaurants. We were done in 10 minutes and got everything we wanted. While I was on the Symphony in February, we were able to book once on. People did cancel during the week and we just kept checking during the day. However, this was also at 50% capacity so it was a little different than now.
  6. I have the same issue. If you do find someone, please share your experience.
  7. I have this booked for my upcoming Equinox cruise in February. I have a question or 2 about the food. I understand it comes with complimentary amenities - four bottles of water, a fresh fruit plate, hand-held fans, and chilled towels. Then the description reads "fresh, themed picnic baskets* from our specialty restaurants onboard - antipasti, Mediterranean seafood pasta, and salads from Tuscan Grille; jumbo shrimp cocktail, assorted berries, organic breads and healthy salads from Murano; fruit brochettes and country-inspired sandwiches from Bistro on Five. Plus, innovative specialty restaurant desserts and a special beverage menu*." So here's my question. Is there a menu that has food items you don't need to pay extra for? And, if you are in Aqua class which we are, can we get food from there? I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it anywhere. TIA.
  8. We are going to be at St. Thomas on 12/19 off of the Voyager of the Seas then we will be there from the 23rd to the 28th on a land vacation. One of the things we going to do is kayak/snorkel/hike Cas Cay on our own. There is a company that rents kayaks to do this for 6 hours. We are really comfortable on our own as we own a kayak at home and have our own snorkeling gear and it's something different from the usual tours. We have this booked on the port day as we are not renting a car there and are staying in the Red Hook area and the company is closer to the cruise port than our air bnb.
  9. Actually most of us Americans have other areas of the country that are far more majestic and beautiful than Bar Harbor. And we have the ability to take a land vacation there to enjoy it more than a 6 hour cruise port stop. The people that may be disappointed are non americans who may not have the ability and ease to travel to Bar Harbor or compromised individuals whose only means of travel is a cruise ship. I personally would rather travel by land to Maine and enjoy the scenery at my leisure rather than try to encompass it in a short time period. It is how I felt about Alaska as well. And if you want a good example of how us terrible Americans behaved in the past, consider the border being closed in the Skagway excursions back in May and June where the train which was the most popular excursion was unable to go to the farther spots. Did the Americans carry on? No. On my cruise and others, we chose different excursions. Yes we were disappointed but it was out of our control.
  10. nice to read this as we have a magic carpet suite booked on the Celebrity Beyond 12/22/2023 and I'm a little concerned at a few of the reviews. Of course most are good thankfully.
  11. Yes it's as I said, whatever is easier. Since we usually fly to the ports, I prefer to keep that stuff small. I remember one time January 2020 we were in Puerto Rico a few days prior to a cruise and flew into Ceiba from Culebra and were driving to San Juan. We stopped to get protein bars at a supermarket as we use them for lunches on port intensive cruises. The customer service desk in the supermarket gave us 1s, 5s, and a couple of 10s for a $100 bill. Couldn't have been nicer.
  12. We just asked our taxi driver to stop at a sloth place near infinity bay. Since it was early, no tours were there yet and we paid the admission fee and then tipped the guide inside as she only took us 2 and did a great job. Our cab driver waited then took us to infinity. It was about 30 minute stop total. We were probably incredibly lucky that day but it was much nicer than being herded around like sheep. And overall probably cheaper.
  13. try tours by locals. We have had a lot of success all over with them. The itineraries are usually pretty good.
  14. Ive done it from home and cruise ship. It was easier for me to do on board as I'm usually flying to the port and having 100 ones is a tad bit snug. I do the excursions in separate envelopes including tips/shopping and then one envelope with $100 bill or 2 $50s or 5 $20s I like to use $20s as they are easier for excursions. I have done this on 3 land vacations, plus 7 cruises since restart. It just works for us.
  15. Ziplocks? With sea food? In the cabin refrigerators? 🤢
  16. also look at your ship excursion as well for anything with Kittiwake if u can't find local. We are actually renting kayaks to go out there from an outfit that does kayak/snorkel tours there as well.
  17. lol, true!! We had to do this as well!
  18. Charge your phones and tablets and batteries and download some shows. There is a pay lounge there but usually crowded. See if you can move your flight to earlier if possible. Look for a private tour to El Yungue, the forts, the rum factory that will drop you off at airport. San Juan is actually a good place to be waiting at. Truthfully though 230pm is not bad. Try 945pm once and 1230am due to incoming flight issues both in San Juan.
  19. These work on the ceiling. Have used now for 4 cruises.
  20. We got the guacamole, salsa, chips, and a shrimp tostado with ceviche. Really good!
