  1. Does it really matter most items onboard in shops are overpriced anyway and no great bargains. The only real saving can be made on booze and cigs.
  2. Recently cruised on Emerald around British Isles and movies that were shown were West Side Story, The Father, Belfast and No Time to Die all fairly recent releases in the UK. I think purely on cost and nothing to do with pandemic but dont expect to see brand new movies that have only just been released on a cruise ship.
  3. Not all shop workers get 20% discount on purchases or guaranteed overtime and many don't work full time so I am afraid your £30k estimation is pure fantasy.
  4. I dont believe in current climate that anyone can classify £10-£11 per hour as pretty good whether unskilled or not. I have been retired for 14yrs and was earning more than that then although my job was skilled. One of the poorest paid industries which are currently struggling to get staff is the hospitality and certainly wouldnt consider a chef as unskilled and the pay in majority of hospitality is very poor that is why they are struggling because nobody will do it for the wages offered. I am sure there are many on here that couldnt survive the lifestyle and think £10-£11 is a liveable wage.
  5. Last week they handed out coloured tickets with animals on and you waited anywhere on the ship and then they made ship wide announcements and when your colour and animal was called out you made your way to the tender.
  6. Sorry but dont think any shop staff wages can be classified as pretty good.
  7. On Emerald last week there some films I recognised as recent films in the UK but obviously majority of films were US films which I dont know how recent these were.
  8. We did 4 tender ports on our cruise last week and there complaints at tender waits at every port to get off the ship and their were long queues to get back onto the ship in Guernsey, Kirkwall and South Queensferry.
  9. We did 2nd June to 14th June on Emerald and have the following observations- DMW - we booked Crown Grill on day of embarkation for 5 days later all confirmed, went to Crown Grill at our booked time and restaurant was closed. Went to reception and they said all those who had booked had been told it was closed. I said obviously not we werent told and she said after booking on DMW we should have gone to Crown Grill to confirm booking as there is a glitch and not all bookings go through. I asked what is point of DMW and got no answer. All our restaurant reservations we made on Medallion App prior to cruise were wiped off by Princess upgrade prior to cruise. Went to see Maitre'd at Da Vinci and he said dont worry all reservations in place. First 2 nights massive queues with 30 minute wait went to see Maitre'd if it was going to be like this every night and what was point of making reservations on All. She looked on computer and said we were VIPs as on this cruise done 500 days with Princess so she said I would have "special table" for every night and no need to wait just walk straight in. Dont know if anyone can book same table with same waiters as the "norm". Tenders- we were Elite so didnt have to wait as went to separate area and were virtually sent to tenders with very little wait. There was complaints by others who had to collect a ticket and wait for announcement of severe delays getting a tender. Tenders were also filed to their full capacity of 90 with no mask wearing.
  10. I might as a treat for Christmas and for a change form Aldi I might buy her ONE bar of Imperial Leather.
  11. We were on the same cruise and agree almost entirely with the exception of when we went to the theatre for the late night shows after the Captains announcement many did not wear masks and many also soon as the lights went down they took them off. Every day since we have been back we have done a test and amazed after being crammed into tenders at all 4 tender ports and wore masks inside the ship from the very beginning except for eating and genuinely drinking that we have not caught covid. Overall although we enjoyed the food in MDR and some staff being very polite it was our worst Princess cruise which was disappointing as this cruise we celebrated 500 cruise days aboard Princess.
  12. I have had 100 shares in Carnival since 2011 and think I paid around the £20 per share mark so at todays price probably about £1300 down but have had much more value in OBC and dividends in the last 11yrs in the number of cruises I have done which far outweighs the £1300 current loss. I am now in a position that even though I will not get any extra benefits from any extra shares only dividends when they return whether or not to purchase more as a hopeful investment. I know it is a gamble but isnt that the risk when purchasing any shares and with interest rates being so low wonder if I have the courage to purchase more.
  13. Also Penhaligon Quercus which is available in all staterooms is also very expensive. My wife loved it on our last cruise on QE and said she would like to buy some when we got home. On searching the internet and seeing the price I convinced her that Aldi was just as nice and better for the environment and my wallet 😁
  14. They had both open on differing nights never both on same night. They don't have enough staff to open both all the time. What was poor was that Crown Grill was advertised in Princess Patter as open every night but Sabatini's was never mentioned.
  15. Just be aware that booking speciality dining on Dine My Way App whether pre cruise or onboard does not guarantee a booking. We recently booked a meal in Crown Grill on day of embarkation on Emerald Princess. Booking was accepted and was shown on my dining reservations every day, we turned up for the meal on the day to find restaurant closed. When I complained they said everyone who had booked for that night had been informed. I said clearly not as I havent been informed and they tried to pass the blame on to me by saying I should have confirmed it in person at Crown Grill and I asked so what is the point of Dine My Way and was told there was a glitch on the App that meant not all bookings go through to right department.
  16. Yes they are with occasional local boats assisting.
  17. We were on Emerald last week and got off, thankfully, yesterday. Masks were made mandatory after left Orkney for everywhere inside the ship unless you were drinking eating. Lifts max6 recommended and mask wearing was not done from the very start of cruise. Cruise included 4 tender ports no masks were mandatory and very few wore masks and the tenders were crammed to capacity. Having seen the statement earlier on present cruise about not being able to provide an effective tender service at 3 ports makes it clear that the explosion in Covid cases on Emerald last week from the start of the cruise was due to tenders operating with no mandatory mask wearing and filling tenders to full capacity.
  18. I can assure you that there were many issues with this cruise but as the thread is titled "Emerald Princess British Isles COVID" and all my comments are about my cruise on Emerald Princess around British Isles and to do with COVID thought that was obviously what the thread was discussing. What do you suggest I should have talked about something nothing to do with Emerald Princess, the British Isles or COVID. Rather a nonsensical response by you as other issues should not be discussed on a thread about COVID. Other issues on this cruise, and there were many, a thread about COVID is not the right place to discuss as they were not about COVID.
  19. Well the theatre at 10pm show with theatre company there was at least 40% who were not wearing masks. The tenders everyone we went on we wore masks and we were in the minority. We wore masks around the ship and in theatre from start of cruise and in lift night before last we got in lift as only people and as it went up the floors piled in and wife says there is recommendation that there should be only 6 maximum in lift when there was 9 in and some not wearing masks. One woman laughed and another sproute don about in Spain if you over load the lift it wont work. Wife said recommendation of 6 in lift is nothing to do with overloading it is to do with Covid and she said "oh I didnt know that". We, for the very first time ever on a cruise was glad to be getting off this morning and was looking forward to it for last few days. It will be a long time before I go on a Princess cruise again.
  20. In the current situation everyone onboard Emerald is at the moment with reimposing of mask wearing due to increase in COVID it proves that proving negative by test prior to embarkation is a pointless exercise. The only worrying thing is if majority are prepared to take the risk of catching COVID as it is supposedly only like flu symptoms why does Princess insist on isolating everyone with COVID in cabins and ruining their holiday.
  21. That is why I am blaming Princess for the current situation because of their incompetence in handling it.
  22. We had the similar letter in our cabins on embarkation but said it was only recommended to wear masks in theatre and in tenders and on the whole was ignored. Masks were not available or handed out on tenders and I agree people should not have been allowed on without a mask. Princess have obviously dropped the ball and once again COVID has increased again and Princess have to take some responsibility for that. For the first time in over 50+ cruises cannot wait to get off this ship and have been looking forward to getting off for days.
  23. Nobody wore face masks until Captain announcement ands y have ignored it. Also on 4 tender ports only us and handful wore masks.
  24. Currently on Emerald and had no problems ordering 2drinks on one Medallion App.
  25. Currently on Emerald and without knowing full facts I should imagine that people will have to be isolated in their own cabins if the area on deck 12 is full.
